Hi! My name is Marcial and I’m very excited to travel around Europe (in France right now) for 1 year! I’m 24 years old from Santiago, capital of Chile. I arrived in France November 2023 and I would like to get to know the culture and cool people during this year-long adventure.

I’m a curious person, always reading and learning new things. I’m kind of introspected in some ways but through the years I have learned to take action instead of thinking too much. That’s how I decided to embark on this trip to Europe and although I’m a bit scared, I’m highly motivated to embrace all of it. As Patrick Rothfuss said in The Name of The Wind:

“If you want to know the truth of who you are, walk until not a person knows your name. A long stretch of road will teach you more about yourself than a hundred years of quiet introspection.”

Being a good listener is something that changed my life, allowing me to be more empathetic and kind. These among humbleness are some the core values that have shaped the way I am. One of my biggest passions is music, so if you are a music lover we’ll surely get along (I play many instruments but mainly guitar). Besides music, I love movies and literature. I also like very much the outdoors and being active; as of now I’m just hitting the gym but when I have the chance I enjoy windsurfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding and other stuff too. I grew up among 4 other siblings, me being the second one so I’m used to being around kids. For the last few years I have taken on the “fixer” role in my house. It isn’t like I know everything - quite the opposite: I know nothing about a lot of things but as I said earlier I like to learn new things, so my approach is that there is (almost) always a solution (on YouTube or Google).

I take pleasure in having good conversation and getting to know new people. I have a calm demeanor, I’m organized and clean. I’m a social drinker and don’t take any drugs apart from alcohol (don’t smoke either).

PD: I’m fluent in Spanish and English. I’m learning French.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have a bachelor's degree in Advertising and Communications and I've been working as a paid media specialist for more than a year now.

I volunteered at my school for 3 years (winter and summer), building houses for communities around the country (La Unión, Constitución, Curacaví, San Fernando), so I have basic construction notions.

At home, I learned to do pool maintenance and now can manage to have a crystal clear pool. I always try to do things on my own and that has made learn some things such as the latter. Also, I'm very organized, always making sure to keep my spaces clean and tidy.
