Summer volunteering

Beschreibung

Hi, we are twin sisters from Ostrava - the third largest town in the Czech Republic. Currently, we study architecture in Prague. Traveling is one of our biggest hobbies, we are keen on learning about different cultures and improving our language skills. We have already tried Workaway - it was one of the best experiences in our lives and we would like to go on.

Our great love is French, which we've been learning for many years already. We have participated in many competitions and projects in our beloved language, but our English is still better than French. Beside final high school exams from these two languages, we have a certificate B1 from French.

As far as our working experience is concerned, we’ve had several summer jobs including one abroad, but we are open to learn new things and ideas.

As far as our personalities are concerned, we are creative, responsible and patient, hard-working, friendly and tolerant. We are introverts and calm too.

We have many hobbies: cooking, gardening, watching films, reading, making beaded jewels, ceramics, sewing clothes, DIY and crafting. We’ve tried many different craft techniques. We love art - we usually visit galleries, museums or just architecture while traveling.

Last but not least there's music - we can play the piano, keyboard, recorders, whistles.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Last summer we spent six weeks in France as waitresses in the restaurant Le Végétarium - La Maison Yves Rocher. We’re happy to say that our employer was very content with us. We have worked in a restaurant before.

We also had a great experience with our first workaway. Our duty was to take care of the garden of our hosts - from mowing the lawn to weeding the flower beds and trimming the hedges. We also cooked a lot - we love cooking ( it‘s literally part of our lifestyle) so we really enjoyed it.
We love to use our cooking skills more. We are practiced in different cuisines (Indian, East Asian, Arab, Mediterranean...) and diets (vegetarian, vegan), preparing homemade plant-based milk, nut butter, bread, cheese, yogurt…

Currently we work for a professional stocktaking agency. This job involves counting the goods in shops during the night, so we don't mind working late.

We also collaborate with an architectural studio. We wrote some texts about their projects for their websites. Thanks to our university, we have experiences with BIM programmes (ArchiCAD) and graphic design.

We’ve had other summer jobs too.

As far as our skills/hobbies are concerned, we also grew tomatoes, peppers, herbs and so on in our balcony. We used to help our grandparents with their garden. We love animals and nature, although our only experience with them is looking after our aquarium. We are skilled in handwork - making beaded jewels, ceramics, sewing, DIY and other creative activities.

We had been doing camp instructors for a few years and also school club instructors, both specialized in making films and animations and overall we manage work with children.
