After moving to the South of France in 2008 Chris and I finally found our dream property! But it needs a lot of work! Chris is a cabinet maker/joiner. He is very good humoured and patient. He is a keen cyclist and in the summer of 2010 took part in the Etape de Tour, which involved over 180km of hard cycling up some of the toughest mountains in the Pyrenees. I (Emma) am a wine lecturer! I teach both professionals and enthusiast amateurs to all different levels of wine knowledge. I am also a keen cook and specialise in wine and food pairing, particularly of the wines and foods of the Languedoc Roussillon. I do my best to keep up with Chris on the bike, but so far have found the only way to do that is by being on the back of a tandem!! We have a great mix of friends of all ages, nationalities and creativities. Life in le sud is both social and peaceful.

We need someone to keep our small house clean and small garden tidy, help to prepare meals (vegan only) and take Paddy, the friendly greyhound/labrador cross, for extra walks. There is an opportunity to help with horses too if you're interested but only when everything else has been done. This is a very rural area in lower Swaledale several miles from a station and more than a mile from a bus stop and only 3 buses a day so opportunities for socializing are limited but it's wonderful walking country and you may take part in all our social activities (history talks, theatre, classical music concerts etc.) and borrow one of our bikes or play the piano. Lucas and I and our daughter live in the beautiful Okanogan Valley in north central Washington state. We are currently trying to finish the remodeling, organizing and cleaning up of our home and property so we can move on to other projects in Arizona. Our planned timeline at this point is to between now and January: finish our home in Washington state. In January we will move to Arizona and be there until April/May. We will probably then move back to Washington state and have projects here to work on still.

We are a non-profit organization in Peru providing free and fun English education to disadvantaged children and adults in our local community. We are located in the thriving city of Trujillo, Peru in the city's low income district of La Esperanza. The public school system here does not receive adequate funding from the government and therefore does not provide necessary materials or a safe environment to promote a strong education. Students do not have the opportunity to learn English in their schools, and institutes available in the city are too expensive. Recognizing that many members of our community are born into poverty and have very few opportunities to advance in society, our organization offers free education in order to expand their horizons. Currently, we are collaborating with volunteers to achieve our goal-and we need your help to continue bringing hope to our community. Thank you for your interest in our organization!
