Descripción
I'am the owner, 54 year old, semi retired, Nicaraguan-american. I live year round in the eco lodge, in Rio San Juan, Nicaragua.
My ambition is to protect and preserve the rainforest, we do this by promoting a self sustaining attitude to increase green living and thinking within the community. The lodge has a full running water and electricity supply powered by solar energy. Much of the food we eat is grown in our plantations for example: pineapple, oranges, lemons, herbs, spices, chillies, platanos, coffee beans and more. We have chickens, pigs, milk cows and also horses which we use to access the rain forest reserve for work and pleasure.
Our main income is the tourists who come to visit and enjoy our wildlife, they visit for our tarpon fishing, kayaking, horse riding and trekking through the rainforest or simple relaxation.

I had a great expierence working at Monte Cristo. I spent about one month volunteering. The place was incredibly beautiful and there are so many things to see. Be sure to bring a good book and clothes for rain. The people that work there are so beautiful and friendly. I will never forget it.
We spent nearly three weeks at here with Alfonso and his staff and had an incredible volunteering experience. We were able to stay in one of the lodges most every night and only when he was booked a few nights did we camp in the cocoa tree field. Hello Dustin And Theresa,
It was a pleasure to have you volunteering at my lodge and you are
welcome to stop over again on your way back up to the U.S. I finished
putting the signs you made around the trees close to our lodge. As you
can imagine, I do need to make lots of them due to the variety of
plant life here in the rain forest. So you did more
