Region: Tamil NaduWe have a home for children here in Hosur Tamilnadu. We have 33 children from very poor backgrounds whom we have taken under our care to give them a safe place to live and the love and education they need to stand on their own feet. Our Organization is family run, and we need volunteers who are willing to come and teach the children, spend time with them reading, doing arts and crafts, playing with them. We will need references and only people with a good heart and love for children need come.
Region: Valencian CommunityMy home is an old water mill situated in a remote and small Hamlet in the province of Valencia. The coast is about an hour drive and the closest bigger village 20 minutes. Valencia and Alicante are around an hour drive. The finca is about 40.000m2 of Mediterranean Woods, very beautiful all year round with the kick of a mountain feel since we are almost at 800 m altitude and there´s a small stream right on the front door. Here lives one man, 5 horses, a couple of dogs and several cats…along with many other wild creatures. I am slowly developing a small project involving activities with horses. From therapeutic sessions for children and adults with some sort of disability, also personal growth (coaching) and horse trails in the Woods. The idea is for it to become a place where all kind of people can enjoy the Company of a horse from a different perspective. Horses here don't use bits or shoes and they roam in a 10.000m2 field. All this is set in a sustainable frame, step by step growing in terms of achieving self efficiency according to the resources available. There is no fixed time to complete tasks as they are very varied and some of them continuous such as clearing old Wood and high grass. Most of the tasks daily involve horses. Feeding, cleaning, exercicing… there's always something to do around here. Improving the horses facilities, building new fences… chopping wood, cleaning the small river… An important aspect here is to be sustainable and self efficient. Growing own fresh seasonal products would be great, some help with that would be highly appreciated too. There are around 150 olive trees too. The house is near 250 y.o. in good shape but with need of care and attention. Some renovations are needed inside and I'm thinking on bio-construction for an extension in the near future. I am looking mainly for help with general maintenance but also for sharing this wonderful space and the unique experience of living with horses in a very rural and truthful environment. The house is not very big so I'm thinking 1 person or 2 if they are together and don´t mind sharing a room. We could start with a short stay up to 10 days and open to extend if we both feel is ok. I think it would be good if you feel free to eat and cook when you are hungry in case in some occasions we can not eat together. I work at home as a language teacher using internet and telephone applications. I'll try to be with you as much as I can but some degree of independence should be needed. We can practice Spanish while you are here and I'll be happy to show you around, there´s a lot to be seen. By the way, I am gay, not that it matters or need to explain myself but I mention it in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Region: Maui, HawaiiAloha and thanks for visiting my page. I'm born and raised in Switzerland. About 20 years ago I moved to the beautiful Island of Maui. For the last 12 years we run a legal vacation home and Guest House in Kihei near Wailea. This beautiful quiet vacation property is located in a upscale neighborhood - just steps away from the ocean, close to lots of dining and shopping places. I'm looking for help around the property. Somebody with lots of trades would be ideal. You need to be willing to work, a good team player and you should not have issues to be told what to do. As a host, I'm very easy going and will make sure to find you work you like and you good in it. On my property there is always lots of things to do. I'm goooood in finding it. I will be mostly on the property and we would do a lot of work together....so no worries...if you don't know how to do it - I can show you. For most parts it is fairly easy work.
Region: Penamacor Central PortugalWe are now booked up with helpers for this year. We will post again when we need help for next Spring :-) We bought a Quinta in Central Portugal in August 2012. We have 270 olive trees and lots of vines, pears figs, apples, oranges and more. We have inherited the farm dog and have hens, geese and ducks plus several ferral cats! In June last year we opened our tipi campsite - we have 2 x 6m tipis on raised wooden platforms and this year we are renovating our 300 year old stone house ready in May. We have been busy planting a large vegetable patch and herb garden using companion planting techniques wherever possible and currently have lettuce, tomatoes peppers, winter spinach, radishes, parsnips, peas, broad beans, garlic, strawberries, raspberries and more being planted as the weather permits. - our garden is an ongoing project so anyone with organic gardening/permaculture experience would be especially welcome. We are looking for helpers who don't mind mucking in and helping in the garden and with the various building projects building skills also welcome! We have had quite a few people come and help who have loved the area and have bought land in this area we have lots of contacts and can help if this is something you might be interested in exploring. We can provide a caravan or comfortable roof tent with mattress and bedding plus compost toilet. We have a large communal kitchen area and a beautiful wooden deck with stunning views. We ask for a minimum stay of a week and currently we are not looking for long term helpers so as we are not really ready accommodation-wise for that. We are walking distance from the village and 5 minutes drive from Penamacor where there is a grocery store. 30 minutes away is Castelo Branco a large town and Fundao another lovely town is around 20 minutes away. We do have a good mountain bike that can be used but if you have your own vehicle it would be much better and give you more freedom to explore the area as the local transport system in our rural area is not that good. We have a good telephone and internet signal and unlimited wireless. If you think you might be interested get in touch and I can give more info.
