Área: North Tipperary- close to NenaghWe are a family who live in the quiet area of the countryside approximately ten minutes drive from a large town. We live in a spacious detached house with pretty gardens and surrounds. We could do with some help to care for the children, help around the farm and help with tasks in the house. We have a small pony stud farm of Welsh and riding ponies.We(Martin and Claire)have three children (8 years, 3 years and 1 year old) and a dog. We also have a cat, chickens, sheep and cattle on the farm. While it is great if you are experienced at horse riding its not necessary. The volunteers help is mostly needed in the home helping with the children, the children's mother will also be present. You will be treated as part of our family. Smokers would not be acceptable.
Área: British ColumbiaWe are Quennell Lake Livestock Conservancy, a conservation breeding facility for endangered breeds of livestock and poultry. We currently work with 5 breeds of chicken, ducks, goats, and horses. This is a social enterprise with the following goals: • To maintain viable breeding populations of selected endangered breeds and promote these breeds to the farming community and the general public • To develop and promote environmentally, socially and economically sustainable farming practices that are well adapted to our local landscapes and climate • To provide learning and training opportunities for children, young people and those with challenges QLLC is a 20 acre farm, located just south of Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island, off the West Coast of Canada. The farm has an orchard, pastures, a creek and a little bit of forest. We are close to the ocean, as well as a lake, forests and many hiking trails. Caring for the animals, upgrading the existing infrastructure, as well as establishing a year-round market garden and farm shop and farm teaching programs are the main priorities. Please be aware that this is a farm in a rural area. The nearest bus stop is 3 km away. Once you are here, you are pretty much stuck here unless you like to walk or are bringing your own transportation. We can offer occasional rides into town etc. The farm is not suitable for people with any allergies to animals, hay, pollen etc. We have a no smoking policy.
Área: WaikatoWe are a family of four, living on a small farm of about 8.5 acres, with horses, cows, ducks, chickens, 2 cats, a dog and soon to have baby goats for the children's agriculture day, which are loads of fun. We are about 20 minutes from Thames, and 10 minutes from Paeroa. There's no public transport but you are welcome to catch a ride with us into town and join in on family activities. We like bush walking and going to the beach with the Coromandel on our doorstep! Teresa is a journalist in Morrinsville, working 9-5 weekdays and some weekends, and Glenn works from home as a software engineer, traveling to Auckland a few times per month. Our two children are Charlotte, 9 and Liam, 7, who both attend Hikutaia Primary School. We follow a plant-based diet, and eat meat and animal products only occasionally, but I have meat in the freezer if you want it. My daughter and I have a special diet due to food intolerances, but I have a recipe book that can be easily followed and I will help with that. Our cellphone coverage is limited, but we have wifi. Área: UmbriaThe farm is situated on the boundary line between Umbria and Tuscany on the beautiful Umbrian hills, near Trasimeno lake, one hour from Rome and Florence. My work takes place in the little restaurant and 15 hectares of grain, sunflowers and olive trees.
Área: Fremantle, Western AustraliaI am a quadriplegic C4/5 confined to my electric wheel-chair for my mobility and independence. I am an easy going guy. I share my home with Nicole my German carer and have five other carers assist me in my drive for independence. Have a simple home in Fremantle with chickens/chooks in back yard with permaculture garden as an ongoing project. I love going to music festivals. Have a mobile-home that we travel away in. I enjoy life and the challenges that come with it.
