We are a bilingual Catalan-Spanish family (Imma-1959; Josep-Miquel-1957; Lídia-1994 and Guim-1996) living in a rural area of Catalonia and although our children don't live with us, they come from time to time to visit us.
Originally from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, in 1994 we moved to a very tiny village away from the “urban” way of life, 120 Km North of Barcelona city and close to the Pyrenees and the French border.
For many years we’ve been involved in Peace movement as well as NGOD both as a volunteers and as a professionals. Intercultural issues, Peace, Social Economy and globalization are some of our main concerns.
Although she has a degree on Geology, Imma works mostly from home in the field of Education, coordinating a group of educators giving workshops and lectures to all range of ages students related with the culures of the Asian continent, Citizenship, Peace, Development Education, In te 80's she lived in India for a while, a country she loves Together with Josep-Miquel and some colleagues/friends she’s also member of a group of teachers that give workshops on those topics mentioned before. She also lived in Britain. Apart from English, she also speaks French.
Josep-Miquel studied Physics at the University, but for many years worked in an NGOD, dealing mainly with development projects in Latin American countries, as a Secondary School teacher on Sciences and Maths and in a local consortia running VET (vocational education training) and local development projects. He likes languages and can manage fluently in English, French and Italian. Nowadays he's leaning Basque and speaks some German and Portuguese too. He’s self-employee, working from home coordinating a group of teachers and educators and will retire soon.
We became WA hosts Jbecause osep-Miquel had a serious surgery some years ago and can't do some physical efforts.
We are looking for people to help us with our small organic vegetable garden and general maintenance of the house (mostly some painting and plumbing if you have these skills).
We prefer to host helpers in pairs (gai or straight partners , friends, doesn't mind...).
Sorry to tell you that we don't accept helpers travelling with any kind of pets.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We speak fluent English, French and Italian. Our mother tongues are Catalan and Spanish. We also are members of other hosting and travelers organisations (Servas, Trustroots, WarmShowers) because we also love travelling, but visiting any country without meeting its people is, for us, simply unthinkable. We can offer you a good introduction to the Mediterranean cuisine (we like cooking!), nice walks in our area (Pre-Pyrenees), and can have chats about the issues you'd be interested regarding the situation in our country, minoritarian languages, social economy, India, etc.

Sorry to tell you that we don't accept workawayers travelling with any kind of pets.
SPRING 2024: Help needed to dismantle the vegetable garden (watering system, nremoving nets, weeding, ...) and prepare it for the next season. We are available to host travellers the two firsts weeks of March and during April

If you like nature and quite places this is your place. We live in a very tiny village close to the Pyrenees, altitude 900 meters high in the province of Barcelona, about 120km to BCN-city. Nearest town reachable by public transport (bus from BCN city) is Berga, 18 Km to our place, therefore if you are a urban person this is NOT your place. To get here and move around it would be convenient to have your own way of transport but we can fetch you in Barcelona city (we usually go there once a week) or in Berga.
Due to our comings and goings, which force us to travel often and leave the house, we can normally only host workwayers for short periods of time (between 5 days and 2 weeks). If you are looking for longer stays it is better to contact other hosts who could have you for longer periods.
