Huskyfarm in Lapland, Schweden
Beschreibung
BECAUSE OF BUSY TIME, WE NEED ONE PERSON FROM BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY TILL APRIL
We are professional mushers (with diplom) the owner has more than 20 years of experience from sleddogs. He is also long distance racing musher. (Finnmarkslopet 2009 500km, finnmarkslopet 2011 1000km) We are living a simple life here in Swedish Lapland with our passion, the dogs. Most of the dogs are Siberian huskies, used for tourist safaries. Alaskan huskies are mostly used as a long distance racing dogs. All our 80 dogs are very friendly and social.
We are a 'dog friendly' kennel and unlike most of the kennels in Scandinavia we DO NOT kill our dogs when they stop to work on safaries or stop racing. They are having happy life as retired dogs as long as they live. We are also keeping all the puppies that born, even they are not always planned ones.. Put them away or sell them is not an option for us.

Mostly the work is feeding and watering the dogs, cleaning kennel from dog poo, harness the dogs for training or safaries, cleaning and fixing equipment, training dogs, puppies and retired dogs. You will be involved in daily kennel chores and kennel projects.
Because this is our life style, the work is a EVERY DAY WORK. And it is not a 9 to 5 kind of work either. Work is very physical and hard, and we are outside long hours no matter what the weather is. It can get very cold at winter and even the food buckets are heavy to carry.
We have a horse here too, so sometimes we might need some help with him.

Just returned from a month (Nov 2010) working at the husky farm and had a wonderful time! Also got to see the Northern Lights on several occasions, which was really special. There was a good mix of activities to be done around the farm and also ample time off to go exploring and play with the dogs and puppies. All the huskies are happy, friendly more
Thank you Sharon for your help with the dogs! You were a good worker who did the work well and seriously every time. Good contact with dogs. Quick to learn with positive attitude. Dogs are all doing very well and you would be shocked to see the 'puppies'. We finished the Finnmarkslopet 1000km! We wish you all the best for the future and you are more
Sarah was volunteering 5 months in the kennel and she was a great help! She really loves animals and Im sure all the dogs will miss her. She left us with good knowledge and experience of the daily dog and kennel care, training dogs with sledge, working with customers in safaries. She experienced long trainings of racing dogs and got a lot of more
This was the most amazing unforgetable experience i have ever had.
i never thought i could ever be in such a place working with passionate people and most of all such beautiful dogs.
walk out to go to the toilet only to have your path lit by the northern lights. Moments like these seriously take your breath away.
If your willing to work hard more

I just returned from working here for three months. Niina and Sébastien have an unmatched passion for dogs. This workaway is not for lazy people. They work very hard every day and will expect you to do the same. The dogs they have are the greatest dogs on the planet. I miss all of them so much already!
