Region: Essaouira ProvinceI am a 46 year old Scot and my wife, 37, is from Argentina. I am a jack of all trades and have been many things in life, from soldier to TV presenter and met my love in Ibiza where she had settled temporarily. We were both big travellers before meeting one another and still are, although there's less time for such things now. We just got back from walking with a camel through Xinjiang and then with donkeys through Kyrgyzstan. For some years now we've been building the Serai in Morocco with our fisherman and farmer neighbours. We have used cement only in the frame and on the roof. Otherwise we use only rocks, old bricks, earth and lime. We teach ourselves how to do things from books and the internet then we teach the guys and another bit is built. It's a fantastic building, sitting against a forested hillside 800m from the beach, and has a bright future as a permaculture research centre. We have now teamed up with the two communities we live between and are about to begin a fantastic project to regenerate their farmlands and the forest behind, to build a sustainable future for them and to learn, by trial and error, what works in such a semi arid landscape, before taking these lessons all over North Africa. We will be using permaculture, holistically managed grazing, agro-ecology and aqua-ponics. The permaculture project with will be starting next year (2014). For the moment, from mid-November, we are looking for people to help with building the house/centre, internet promotion of the permaculture project. We hope you can join us.
Region: VictoriaWe are a family of 4 living a full life in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. We have travelled and lived overseas in India for 2 years. We enjoy the company of travelers and had people stay before. Tim works in a trade trading school part time and from home part time. Becca is an Occupational Therapist and works part time. Our teenage children study at the local high school and are learning Japanese and French. We try to live a sustainable life connected to our community. We are involved in our community through the school, a local scout group and the local church. We usually eat together around the table and enjoy playing board games. We have a number of projects on the go in our garden and house. Working on these projects and general help in running the household is what we are looking for. We are interested in hearing what skill you might have to share.
