We are family of four: Andrzej, who is an artist, photographer; Anna who is a poet and a web-designer; Ika and Antek, two kids age 14. We also have a dog and two cats. We live in very old (160 years) house in small village Yarker, Ontario. We have opened a cultural centre here, with Film Discussion Club, lectures, slide -shows, Reading Club and jam-sessions. We also plan to open an art gallery in June 2010 and to hold a big art festival every September. We have small organic garden (mix of veggies, fruits and flowers).

We need help with the renovation of our house and the art gallery. This includes construction, wall-painting, plumbing and other stuff of this sort. We also have a small organic garden and we need help with weeding, planting, picking and so on. Besides we will need someone to help us with picture-framing and with computer work. You would work as much time as you feel is all right for you and if you don't like some task we propose you can choose to do something else instead.

Our volunteer will have separate bedroom in the not-renovated part of the house. There is a bed there and some cupboards. There is a bathroom with shower in the house, the fridge, the washing machine and generally quite good conditions, even with this renovation going on.
Was noch ...
It's really fun to be here. We have all these events going on, we often have guests from all over the world, we have very interesting and nice neighbours, including local artists. There is lots of interesting things to do around here - there is beautiful hiking and biking trail, going all the way to Ottawa (and we have a bike that you can borrow), there is a river just in front of the house, great for canoeing (and we have a canoe too), there are other villages around to visit and all sorts of events going on there as well.

Help at a cultural center in Eastern OntarioI loved staying with Andrzej, Anna and their family!!! It is a beautiful place, and they are really warm people!! I stayed there 2 weeks, helping Anna with the garden and Andrzej with the renovation, and it was a very good experience, i felt like i was part of the family! We ate great food, talked about everything, changing the world, it was so much fun!
if you want to experience a bit of canadian life,go see Andrzej and Anna, and give Gapa a hug for me!! ;)

Help at a cultural center in Eastern OntarioI stayed with Anna and Andrzej for about 2 weeks and it was wonderful because of their warmth and kindness, they really made me feel like home. They're very open minded and easy going, and it was a real pleasure working with them on their house and in the garden!
If you want to visit Ontario and are looking for a very nice place to stay, don't hesitate and join them, you won't regret it!!!!

richardTiphaine stayed with us for two weeks. She is a wonderful person and great helper. She helped us in the garden and in the renovation (furniture renovation, plastering the walls, other tasks). She is very nice and kind, always smiling, with big, warm heart and open mind. Her presence here was like a bit of sunshine for us. I highly recommend her.
