Description

Hello! I'm Susie, I'm 24 years old and I am travelling around India and Nepal with my partner, Innes. We have explored Central America together and lived in Canada for 18 months and we're ready for a new adventure!

I am motivated by others and feel uplifted when I am able to both help and learn from the people around me. I am at my happiest with good people, animals and beautiful nature.

I have worked with young people, elderly people, those with special needs and culturally diverse groups in the past, and am able to adapt and respect people from all walks of life.

On previous Workaways and travel adventures, I have built up knowledge in permaculture farming, gardening, animal care (farm and shelter work) and teaching English. What I don't know I'm keen to learn!

I am TEFL qualified and during my time in Canada I ran an English conversation class for non-English speaking newcomers.

I have a strong interest in the importance of diversity and protecting culture and the environment. I studied history with a focus on minority and indigenous history at university and went on to work at an environmental conservation and indigenous rights NGO which I enjoyed very much.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have knowledge in self-sustaining farming, permaculture and gardening. In my previous workaway experiences, I was responsible for weeding, planting, building fences, chopping wood, driving farm machinery, harvesting, and general garden maintenance.

I am experienced in animal care also. I have worked on an organic farm with cows, chickens and goats, helping with feeding and habitat maintenance. I have also worked at an animal shelter for stray cats and dogs, where I gained experience in vulnerable animal care and vetinarian support.

I have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy boosting up those around me. I have worked in childcare, with people with special needs and with elderly people.

I have a TEFL qualification and ran an English Conversation class for newcomers for six months while I lived in Canada. I love to teach!!

I worked for an environmental conservation and indigenous rights NGO. We worked with indigenous groups across the globe in promoting their cultural practices that protected the environment. This project was very close to my heart and I am passionate about continuing to develop my skills and uplift others in protecting the environment through their own cultural practices.

I also love to cook. I worked as a cook in Canada so have developed a range of skills in the kitchen. In addition, as a vegetarian for many years, I have learnt how to create great tasting and filling food that veggies and meat eaters alike can enjoy! I feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen and love cooking for family and friends.

I am also a big music lover. I love to sing, play the piano and the ukulele, and also the intro to piano man by Billy Joel on the harmonica…

I’m a quick learner and ready to take on new challenges.
