The 2 weeks I stayed there were amazing. They have lots of animals, taking care of every single one of them. Misha, his girlfriend, and his mother all treated me very nicely and it was super pleasant to spend time with them and exchange ourselves with our different backgrounds. Misha is down for any challenge that involves sport and you can get some amazing experiences and stories with him!

What an amazing experience. It was everything I hoped for and more. Tim is an amazing host, I immediately felt comfortable and at home, from the moment he picked me up from the station. He is very clear, but always with some funny jokes and remarks. He is a good amount of direct, but also very appreciative. He gives a great balance of freedom and guidance. One of the reasons I came to his place, was because I wanted to learn many skills, especially involving nature and self-sustainability. I was not disappointed! Tim has so much amazing knowledge and experience. And to top it off; he's a fantastic teacher. I learnt so much from him, especially when it comes to eco-building. Dave, who helps out a lot, was an amazing help too. He has amazing green fingers, and helped me very much to develop my love for plants and gardening further! The tasks were diverse and very rewarding. From building, to maintanance, to planting trees, to fencing and composting (and more). Besides the work, we had a good amount of free time on our hands. There were lots of things we could do, including a great collection of books to read. Living with a small group of beautiful people made everything even more amazing. The people I met here, will always have a very special place in my heart and helped me grow in so many ways. It is a great place if you're looking to learn, experience and experiment. Tim is always open for ideas and projects. If you love nature, admiring plants and animals, eating fresh oranges, hiking, etc. This is definitely for you. I had an amazing time taking care of the nature, but also just admiring it. There's beautiful gecko's, insects, birds and of course plants everywhere around you. All in all, I will always be grateful to Tim and the amazing place and opportunities he creates. I strongly value all that he does and will continue doing. Muchas gracias, hasta la vista!

I spent a week at Ingrid and Hutz house and I felt at home right away. They are kind, generous and communicative. Their house is big and their land is beautiful and peaceful. It was the perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature. I could not have hope for a better host. Thank you so much!!!

Adam and Anita were a delight to have. They were self-motivated, fun, and hard working. They learned the animal care routine quickly and genuinely loved the animals. Their planting skills were wonderful, both in starting new vegetables for future volunteers, and keeping the weeds back from the existing plants. They had a really good spirit about them, and we enjoyed seeing the sanctuary through their eyes. We would love to have them stay with us again on their next trip to Hawai'i.

I spent a beautiful month with Marie and Antonio in their wonderful place in Ariège. It was my first time on Workaway and I could not have asked for a better experience. Marie and Antonio are warm, welcoming, interesting and considerate people, who showed me so much kindness! They’re so generous and brought me with on several excursions, both to the wonderful Sunday market and to Toulouse. There are always interesting conversations to be held with them about life, movies, traveling and food - and never short of a laugh! And even though she might not think so herself, Marie is very pedagogical. She was so patient with me teaching me some French and how to help the land. During my month there I got to help them finish building the greenhouse, plant seeds, do some weeding, prepare the soil, plant trees and mowing the lawn. I got to stay in the caravan that they have renovated so nicely, and with stunning views over the fields and hills. I could borrow a bike (since I don’t have a car), and could bike around the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery with wonderful views over little farms, green hilltops and the snowy Pyrénées in the distance. I could always use the yoga-room as well, which was beautifully made with a serene vibe. Apart from all of this, I’ve gotten to enjoy so much nice food while staying with them. Amazing flavours from the Indian and Brazilian kitchen, and the best homemade pizza I’ve ever had! I could go on and on about how lovely my stay was, and I would love to come back one day and see how all the exciting projects they have planned are coming along. And of course to have some more pizza, listen to Marie playing the harmonium and hear some more of Antonio’s travel stories. All the best to you guys, thanks for a lovely stay!

I stayed with Sven and Teresa for almost one month, they even let me stay some days before our agreement when I had nowhere else to go. At their home I helped with sheep and some house tasks, but it never felt like real work, it was more like a family life for one month. :) There is one awesome forest nearby where you can take walks and meet some deer/wolves/rabbits and other cool animals (if you are lucky). It was a cool experience. Good hosts, beautiful two dogs, I would recommend them to everyone.

I had an absolutely wonderful time at Angela’s and Marcus‘ place. It was my first solo workaway experience and I highly recommend getting to know them and their beautiful slice of Tuscany. The help was always manageable and diverse and I had a lot of freedom in when to do what. Mostly I did tasks around the garden such as weeding and watering, and I helped sort branches in the olive grove. Angela and Marcus where always open to any questions and I felt very welcome and well supported in their presence. We got along very well and shared lots of conversations and meals. The area is absolutely beautiful, to view across the valley will take your breath away. In your free time I recommend strolling around Castiglion Fiorentino or hanging out at the pool. Thank you so much for everything, Angela and Marcus. I wish you all the best!

What an angel Hannah turned out to be. A warm hearted, lovely young woman who was so willing and always there like a shot when I needed help. She was a delight to host with her quiet and gentle way. Hannah used her initiative and took photos of different tasks as we walked around the property whilst I explained what I needed help with. And then, pretty much I left her to it. She was thoughtful and considerate in how she chose to follow through with the various tasks. She ensured everything was completed and all the difficult tasks (for me) were done first. She painted my dining chairs and left a colourful and bright impression. So nice to have her creative touch as well as her finishing touches inside the caravan. Nga mihi aroha.

Rob and Nikki are two of the most genuine passionate couples that wholeheartedly throw themselves into the sanctuary where my wife and I had the opportunity to spend a month. Once you quickly learn the order and procedure for feeding all the animals, the actual task load is surprisingly pleasant and gives you more than enough time to cook, read, relax, and tend to other improvement projects around the farm, like gardening, tackling some invasive plant species, or just socializing with some of the animals. Rob takes the time to share his incredible knowledge of Hawaiian culture, sustainable gardening practices like Korean natural farming fertilizer, fermented Noni fruit juice, animal care and so much more Hearing the stories of how each animal on the farm made its way there you can understand how this non profit sanctuary and its animals means the world to Rob and seeing how much energy he pours into it we felt privileged to be a temporary part of the family and happy we could contribute what we could. There are a lot of special animals to help with and between Rob and Nikki, the sanctuary and the positive energy of the island, we’re thankful for this opportunity and recommend the experience to other workaways that want to commit themselves where their help so directly benefits the lives of these deserving animals. Can’t wait to return some day

Captain Cindy is a hip chick with a very cool vintage yacht she owns and maintains in a very big marina. Her and all her friends are warm and welcoming. Captain Cindy Runs a fun ship. Had my own quarters and always plenty to eat. If you want to experience being a first mate with no pressure this is a great workaway. Austin was full of music everywhere and Captain Cindy made her car available anytime i wanted see the sites. The lake She's docked on is big and beautiful and great for swimming and boating. Everybody has a boat. It was a great trip.

What a wonderful first Workaway experience! Sebastian was the most welcoming host, I felt completely at home in the space and with the friends and community around the finca. Sebastian was flexible about volunteer tasks, we discussed the options and found some priority projects to prepare the property for photos and guests. It was easy to want to make the space clean and enjoyable, and to want to enhance the gardens and trails, with the good energy that Sebastian, Daniel, and the community around them put into their projects. It is remarkable to be surrounded by nature in the cane forest or on the orchard slope at the finca, yet so close to a huge city. This experience was an excellent entry point to Workaway-- to contribute to the operations of the finca and still have the comforts of a well appointed space. Thank you for a wonderful week, gracias a todos!

Scott is very polite and easy to have around. Not afraid to help hard and get dirty. He takes own initiatives and comes up with good solutions. A great cook also! Overall we had a very nice time with Scott beeing around.

Had an awesome time here and would definitely recommend others to do a workaway here too! Sarah and Lindsey were super friendly hosts who are a lot of fun to be around with a great place for a workaway! The help was good fun and flexible and Sarah and Lindsey taught us loads. The food was also delicious, can’t fault anything about this place, and already wanting to come back!

I spent 10 days at Hacienda. I had a great time with the other people who were there at the time. There are some great things to see and do around Ttio. The place is great, there's room for lots of people, lots of things to do in it (walk around the Hacienda, play music, watch films, bake cookies in the wood-fired oven, play chess or other games, relax etc.). ) We had a lot of free time, which was great for visiting the surrounding area. I loved living with all the dogs who are adorable and who give the place a nice atmosphere (full of life, games, barking etc.). However, there were a few things that bothered me a bit during my stay and that I think are worth mentioning so that the place can improve and because I would have liked to know about them before coming. First of all, there are cameras on the premises (kitchen, corridors) and I found out about this from the other volunteers and not from Luis. I can understand the reasons for this, I just wish Luis had warned me of their presence... I also think that the management of cleaning and the sharing of tasks on site could be improved because very often the kitchen or toilets were dirty and not everyone took part in the tasks equally (task board not filled in or always the same people cooking).  I think it's linked to communication and the transmission of information about the site, but that could easily be improved and then of course being between 20 and 30 people in one place isn't easy, so I know that it's also normal if everything wasn't always perfect and fluid. But I think that adding collective moments for sharing information and simply talking could help with that and also so that people get to know each other a bit more or suggest things to the whole group. What's more, I would have liked to see more of Luis to talk things over, to understand his story and above all the history of the Hacienda and his future plans, but it wasn't easy as he was often busy or away from the site. However, I have very good memories of my time here and I met some very nice people. I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes living with a large group, who loves dogs (who are all adorable with their own characters but it's really great to live with them), and who wants to have a lot of free time to do things in the region. Go luck for the rest of the project Luis. I'm sure that this place will get better and better and I hope that it will be able to welcome even more dogs who need a home.

Discover your own animal kingdom at this beautiful forest property! From chickens to horses, mini horses, and goats, you'll find an array of fascinating creatures to connect with. The house is charming, and the property offers ample space to explore and enjoy nature. If you're passionate about animals and want to spend time with like-minded people, this is the ultimate retreat for you!

Ive had 2 amazing weeks with Silna and Willy and even after I left, I wished I couldve stayed longer. I helped with two other volunteers and the group atmosphere was just amazing. You really felt at home there. On top of that, you get the most amazing view over the lake and mountans. I miss the morning breakfast on the balcony and the walks around the area. You could eat as much chocolate as you wanted and the food was always amazing. All in all, it was paradise and I recommend the place to everyone, who is considering visiting them :)

I abbbbsolutely loved my 3 weeks here in Montembœuf. Janet made me feel welcome straight away, and wasted no time in introducing me to other workaways, her son Felix, and her friends like Yvonne (who you will certainly meet, and go for 7am swims at the lake with). You will have your own quiet, peaceful bedroom with a window overlooking the gorgeous green backyard. You will also be swarmed with love from the 2 dogs, Scuby and Brooke, who you will fall in love with straight away. I can also safely say that you will be very well fed while here! Eating breakfast/lunch/dinner by the fireplace every day was always a hearty experience with delicious home cooked food. You'll have an extremely satisfying balance of work and free time, with the work being very learned property maintenance tasks. Janet prepared me for being an amazing husband in the future and would help me in ensuring I do jobs to a good standard (husband training as we called it). While I was there, I did a few days of painting, a bit of hedge trimming, some rotorvating, and other miscellaneous tasks. Lastly, I was given permission to leave my big suitcase full of stuff while I went off and backpacked for a few weeks which was generous and has helped me massively in being more mobile on my travels. I hope to be back one day <3

I stayed at Shauns property for two months - I was originally supposed to stay for 3 weeks! I fell in love with the Sabina, the animals and the pace of life here. Work: walking the animals in the forest was an absolute dream. Bit of routine with feeding the dogs and cats. The ducks love if you turn rocks for them to get the worms. I loved cooking them peas as part of their meals and collecting their eggs - a real treat! Studio assisting - Shaun was preparing for a major solo show in the UK during my stay. I'm a recent graduate of Fine Art so it was awesome to see his preparations for this. I did lots of organising and clearing of spaces. I also picked up some new woodworking skills (which Shaun was very patient in teaching me). Social life: Shaun was kind enough to link me in with people in Rome, in Torri in Sabina and even some workawayers in the next village Montasala. The Sabina is an ideal place for solitude and decompress from life. There is plenty to see and Shaun has working bikes. I've hiked and biked to most places and I still didn't get to see everything! Lastly, Shaun was so kind to let me use the printing machine! Although I was there as a workawayer I still had plenty of time to research local mythology and make the beginning of new work. I've left feeling pretty excited about the future and can't wait to return to the Sabina Hills.
