    Description

Hello!! Welcome to Finca de Amore. We are currently taking applications for workaway volunteers who want to disconnect and step back into a simpler time. We are looking for folks who love to be in the outdoors and work with their hands. Finca de Amore is a 103 acre farm overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the cloud forest of Costa Rica. We are working towards producing most of what we need here on the farm organically. We do not plant or raise animals for profit. Any of the food or supplies in excess of what we need is shared lovingly with the small community we are a part of as we all share and take care of one another. We have a start on the growing and have pineapples, mangoes, water apples, guavas, avocados, oranges, mandarines, limes, cherries, Bananas, Plantains, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, radishes, black beans, pinto beans, corn, yucca, potatoes, black berries, and some spices. We do not use chemicals and are on the summit so our water and ground are pure and clean. The water on the farm is spring fed and incredible! We are 3,000 feet above sea level, yet only 25 mins from the sleepy coastal town of Uvita de OSA. We are 30 mins from the closest city (San Isidro Del General capital of Perez Zeledon), but you would never know it. You are just as likely to pass people walking or on a horse as you are in a car. At night all you see is the stars and all you hear is the sounds of the farm and rainforest. You will be sure to laugh the first time you hear Elvis our rooster along side the Congo howler monkeys in the trees near by. It is a wild experience! Some of the wild animals we have spotted here are, Capuchin monkeys, howler or Congo monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, parrots, Coatis, Tapirs, pumas, ocelots, and small jaguars. Of course there are so many more to name and yet to be found as the farm connects to thousands of acres of national park. During the months of Aug-Dec you can even spot whales in the harbor from the balcony! The peninsula the house over looks is called the Whale’s Tail. Each year the whales migrate here to have their young. What is amazing is the peninsula is in the shape of an actual whale’s tail! There is truly an amazing amount of magic here. We are currently looking for 2 happy positive souls that want to help keep this place beautiful by planting their love and intention in a place it is sure to flourish!

Coming to stay here will give you a true experience as to what it is like to live in rural Central America. Although here at the house we do have all the modern conveniences, such as High speed Internet, and modern appliances and “American“ construction, the moment you step outside nearly nothing has changed in a hundred years. The closest neighbor is 1 kilometer away and nature has full control of the surroundings. There are only 2-3 English speakers in the community. Most of the people who live in the community grew up here and have 2-3 Generations of stories to share. You will learn how things have been done before all of the modern conveniences most in the industrial world have come accustom to. . You will have the opportunity to connect to the world, but also have the opportunity to do the opposite of you choose. You are sure to make any number of new friends with an afternoon walk to town. The community is incredibly warm and curious. We are just far enough away from the tourist destinations that a foreign visitor is an exciting event for our friends and neighbors.
