  • Description

    Hej hej,

like the majority of the people on this platform I'm a passionate traveler. However I don't care that much for the destination as I learned (and still am learning) to appreciate my surroundings for what they are. I want learn about people, see their perspectives and understand what moves them. That's why I want to support them achieve their goals and help them find happiness, just as I wish for people to support me along the way.

This is my motivation and also what brings me the most joy: creating a good environment for the people that surround me. However this also relates to the ecological environment. I'm a passionate hiker and wish to conserve my surroundings for many more generations to come.

That's why I try to spend a lot of my free time in nature. I'm a very active person and always try to include sports in my daily schedule: be it home-workouts, cycling or swimming, hiking or bouldering, I'm down! Whenever I get a chance to live out my creative side, I take it. I love drawing and making prints and I always try to try out new crafts when I get the chance.

More details about my language interests
I'm currently learning Norwegian A1 - however I'm not a pro in learning languages by textbook. I'd love to have the opportunity to be able to practice it on a daily basis. I'm obviously happy to teach you some German or help practice your English in return.

  • More details about your skills

I'll try to list my skills and then give a little more details + background for every **skill**.

**Hospitality work + Kitchen work, especially cooking**
In 2020 I finished my dual studies in International Hotelmanagement (Bachelor + apprenticeship), so I've worked in hospitality for +4yrs ( housekeeping, reception, bar, controlling, sales). I also learned controlling, HR, sales, marketing etc.
Cooking is one of my biggest passions and I'm glad I had the opportunity to work as a kitchen hand and junior chef for ~1 year (no apprenticeship though, I just had the opportunity to work with a very talented chef who taught me). I've also got some experience in cooking for bigger groups and instructing a team.

**teaching and learning about environmental & social sciences**
Right now I'm studying Geography. I'm deeply interested in physical geo, so climate & environmental science but my heart lies with human-geography, especially city & infrastructure planning. I love to share my knowledge, but I'm always happy to learn new things: what defines an eco-systems and what makes them special.
That's part of the reason why I'm mainly applying to rural destinations.

    **project & self-management**
For the last 2 years I have been working in project management for a small local NGO.
This job has taught me a lot of self-management, since my colleague and me have to organize every part of the project ourselves: controlling and administrative duties, reaching out and building networks, but also planning and carrying out events.

    **creativity and (unskilled) construction work**
Back in school I had the opportunity of renovating a house with a friend of the family. Neither of us were skilled in this field, so we had to learn most of it ourselves.
This stuck with me. I still try to carry out DIY projects in my own household. However I'm not claiming to be a skilled worker who exactly knows what he's doing ... but I think that I'm an avid learner and can adapt to new situations very quickly.

**rural work & dealing with isolation**
I'm mentioning this because I'm mainly interested in getting to know rural areas. I already worked in the Australian Outback for 6 months, where the closest town was 8hrs by car - and I loved every second of it. I don't mind being isolated like this, because I enjoy reading, drawing, working out or just exploring the area. However I also enjoy the close bonds you are able to form to those that are around you.

And last but not least: I don't claim being an expert on any of these topics, but I'm always willing to learn and to adapt. Sharing knowledge and making way as a community is key.

  • What else ...

When I was younger I used to draw all night long, unfortunately I stopped doing that because I didn't think I was good enough. It still makes me sad that I lead myself to believe that and ended such a healthy way to express myself.
Which is why I'm reclaiming it again: 3 years ago I started doing linol printing and I also took up drawing again. I'm doing it for myself and to find balance in hectic everyday life and I'm happy with it.

Apart from that I like to think that I'm a very creative person: I do lots of crafty things, I love to cook and I always try to find new outlets and ways to express myself.

I enjoy reading and love to learn about stuff like astronomy, philosophy and psychology.
It's very important for myself to keep learning and experiencing new things, which is why I always try to keep an open mind.
