Description
We are a small two-family homestead, growing fruit, veggies, and unique trees in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. Our property is 40 acres of mostly forest, with walking trails and a natural swimming pond for cooling off in the summer!
We have a fruit tree orchard (apple, pear, cherries, quince, persimmon, kiwi, figs, grapes), two large greenhouses, one 'warm' greenhouse filled with citrus trees (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, yuzu, etc.) and a 'cool' greenhouse with peach, nectarine, apricot, and more. We have veggie gardens, a small hydroponics system, a berry field (blueberries, raspberries, haskaps) and a constantly rotating collection of propagated trees and plants.
We are hoping for a helper or two to stay in our walk-out basement (private room and bathroom), 5 days on with 2 days off, and around 4-5 hours of help per day. We are approximately a 12 minute drive from town, and not near any bus routes, so having a vehicle would be helpful for exploring.Types of help and learning opportunities

The Cowichan Valley is a beautiful area. Filled with hiking/biking trails, lakes, farmstands, wineries, ocean beaches, and more. We are always happy to share our knowledge on gardening, greenhouses, fruit trees, natural swimming ponds, and harvesting & preserving food.

We are mostly looking for outdoor maintenance/greenhouse/garden work. This could include anything from pruning, seed starting, weeding, propagating plants, watering, cutting grass/clover, mulching, harvesting, painting, landscaping, fencing, etc.
