Description
We are an adventurous family of 4 from Brooksville, Maine. We have a small homestead where we spend most of our time gardening, building, messing with wood, raising animals and having fun. We are both anbout 40 and our two boys are 10 and 14. Jared is a carpenter, woodsman, sailor and mechanic and Ruthie is a sailor, gardener and small business owner. We’ve spent the a lot of time over the past years working on our land and also living on a sailboat sailing the East coast and the Caribbean.
Currently we raise some animals for meat, have a small garden, and enjoy being home, working the land but still loving being on and near the ocean whenever possible. Our chief projects for 2024 are, building a post and beam barn, engaging our boys, building campsites and forest trails, gardening and designing and implementing our vision for the future of our lives and land
This opportunity would be well suited for a couple or small family who are interested in non-conventional lifestyles or are looking for practical skills to help live a more self sufficient and simple life. Life can be full, But best of all we Have Fun!! We work hard intermittently but prioritize friends and fun. Hikes, boats, swimming and good food are staple in our lives. Maine is wonderful. Summer is enchanting. Our work is fulfilling, Swimming, sailing, Islands, fishing, and paddling.
Life is different here. Older, vivid.
This is a unique and intimate living environment. It is essential that someone be a good fit with our family.Help
The help that is most present in our lives is related to DIY projects, taking care of animals, some woods clearing, trail making, gardening and building more gardens. We would like to find folks who, are interested in plugging into some of these tasks and who are easy going, motivated, and enjoy working with others.
