Description
We are looking for an experienced and adaptable horse rider to stay for at least 3 month, please don't apply if you are not an experienced rider or cannot stay that long.
We are a family of 3 and live on a farm with ponies, dogs, ducks, cattle, chicken and goats.
I am a socially engaged artist and also teach environmental and socially engaged art and landscape architecture at different universities in Dublin. Kieran farms full time and Cecily is 12 and goes to school. We both speak German and would love to find a German workaway who will speak German with us.
Who wants to come and hack through the beautiful Irish Landscape with me?
We have a lot of fields to hack across, we have gallops and also a riding arena. The dogs accompany us when we go riding.
And ride up to 3 horses a day . You will also lunge them and be responsible for keeping the horses and tack clean. You will have to skip out on 3 evenings of the week (or turn the horses out over night) and skip them out in the mornings and evenings at the weekend.
You'll have 2 consecutive days a week off.
You need to be a good rider and at intermediate level as our horses are all competition horses and are not all safe for beginners and it is important that their level of ride- ability stays at the standard it is at. So you need to be good rider and I will ask you to send me videos of you riding.
I can teach you when we ride together and our International dressage and showing instructor comes one weekend a month to teach us all.
You also need to walk the dogs when I am away working in Dublin and my daughter is in school.
You need to be mature, preferably 22 years old, someone who can work independently, understands that I also need time for my own work and need some private time with my daughter and that I cannot mind you as if you were a child. I need a grown up who enjoys helping and is not personally hurt when I ask them to do things in a certain way.
Please only apply if you are a good rider, who has a lot of riding experience. We have stallions and young horses here, so please don't apply if you cannot ride to intermediate level. Look at our profile pictures to get an idea of the level of riding we require.
You can eat with us on 4 evenings a week. Some evenings we require family time. And you can cook for yourself in your own kitchen, where you can make your own breakfast and lunch there as well.
You have your own spacious double bedroom, bathroom and living room with a kitchen area as well. The whole house is heated with wood-burning stoves, so you will have to keep the stove in your living room going by refilling logs twice a day.
You don't have to have perfect English, but it needs to be good enough to understand us, as it can become dangerous if you don't understand what people say when you are working around farm animals.
Minimum stay is 3 month, shorter stays just are not long enough to be a part of our family and farm.
Driving licence is not a requirement.
But if you have one and are aged 26 or older, we will let you borrow our car twice a week for going to town for shopping etcetera... Otherwise the car insurance does not allow for that.

Irish Countryside, Irish horse skills and speaking English
We offer plenty opportunity to ride: Dressage, jumping and cross country jumping.
And you can improve your English while you are here.
It is a fantastic chance to live on an Irish organic horse stud. You can learn a lot about how horses behave as the animal they truly should be. They are brought up in herds on large fields. In the spring we ride out to see if a new foal has been born every day. Later on in the year, the stallions get turned out with the mares: A unique chance to understand how horses can live a horse life, as opposed to being brought up in a confined area.Projects involving children

We miss you- our daughter says she does not want to wear her flower shirt anymore- as it reminds her of Ida, who always told our daughter how much she liked that shirt.
