  • Description

I am back on my home ground in Spain after returning from the Philippines. Baguio the city in the clouds 1 mile above sea level, and summer capitol was interesting and i loved it there and made lots of new friends a got a good deal on a condo otherwise known as a brand new studio flat with all the fittings in it hand made by a professional carpenter. I was given 1,000 watt e-bike to use for free and had a great time. Baguio City and Burnham Park in particular a interesting tourist spot and I helped some people there with the welfare of cats, buying and making some accomodation so that a mother cat could have her kittens in a safe place. I also paid for vets fees for another cat with an infected tail in another part of Baguio who is the wife of the owner of the studio flat was helping the stray cats. The poverty throughout the Philippines is extreme. Many people are struggling to keep their heads above the water. What some people do to scrape some money together is in sheer desperation. There is no social security and no help by the state for the disabled.

At Manilas airport from hell the immigration department refused to let me board my plane back to Spain over a series administrative blunders at the airport and a misundestanding over a visa. i was forced to sleep on the airport floors for 5 days and nights, became very ill and eventually the British embassy came to my rescue an found me a very cheap dorm to stay in with 7 beds in every room. It took over 2 weeks to recover from the illness caused to me by forcing me into the situation in the first place. The air pollution in Manila is toxic an gave me bronchitis on top of the flue. There is no requirement to have silencers on vehicles so many do not. The noise is horrenous and no pollution control at all so a lot of vehicles belch out clouds of black smoke. At the airport I was pushed to the ground by a guard and immigration staff when I tried to get to the medical centre, and abused repeatedly that made me ill. The air conditioning at the airport is inadequte and the air smells of sweaty bodies as hundreds of people sleep on uncomfortable chairs and on the floors. The airline Turkish Airlines refused to pay for a return flight despite the fact it was partly their fault that I could not board the plane. I am appying for a 1,000 euros refund to their head office in turkey.

I also got food poisening 5 times! Hygene is not the strongest point in the Phillipines, the product range at the supermarkets is utterly appalling and the cusine far from good.

I had planned to go back in January to the Philippines and back to Baguio as well but after my awful experiences at the Airport from Hell (Manila) I shall not be going back! My advise is don´t go to the Philippines. The people are so friendly and helpful but the system of government and the way the people is treated by the authorities there is disgraceful.

Not sure what comes next but intend to drive north to France in my motor home and see what happens there.

I am retired and have developed my own land from scratch where I lived, in Spain near a town called Pego that is on the Costa Blanca. I installed security cameras connected directly to the Internet so that I can view my land while am away.

    WORK RELATED INFORMATION.

I love caring for cats and have rescued many over the years. I helped the local cat charities. I am a DIY enthusiast and do a lot of work in connection with that including construction, ground maintenance, house keeping, mechanics, administration and account keeping. I am able to work on my own initiative from the instructions given on what tasks to perform. I am reliable and honest.

I am very good at organizing things such as tidying up and putting things into good order. For me to work properly I do need to get things properly organized that is the number 1 priority.

I typed a lot more but I have deleted it as it was out of date and too long.
