I am originally from Virginia, but spent most of my twenties in various spots in the US traveling, living, and volunteering. In my early twenties I served in 2 consecutive AmeriCorps terms before deciding to travel the country on my own. During my time volunteering at a homestead in Oregon, I fell in love and decided to stay for a couple of years.
Post-pandemic, I decided I wanted to live closer to my family, so I packed up the Kia and completed another adventure of traveling and volunteering through Workaway. Workaway has been one of the best tools in my life for travel and connection. I wouldn't be who I am today without it!!
At this time in my life, I find myself at yet another cross roads. I have spent the last 3 years living in my home town and working as a manager at the local food co-op. While I have learned a lot about myself in the time I've been back home, I also knew I would be leaving, and that time has finally come. Before I decide where to settle down this time, I want to travel in hopes of reconnecting with myself through connecting with others and nature.
A little about my work experiences:
For the last 15 years, I have worked a variety of jobs & have experience ranging from child care to wildland firefighting. I also have volunteer experience in gardening, farming, animal care, yard work, general labor, disaster response & homeless aid.
During my first AmeriCorps term, I assisted communities in need with neighborhood development, community gardens, park trail maintenance, and disaster response. My second AmeriCorps program was strictly conservation work in Southeastern Minnesota. Jobs ranged from managing prescribed burns, felling invasive trees, invasive species management & wild land firefighting.
I have lived & volunteered with many hosts through Workaway, unfortunately none of us left official reviews for one another. However I do have an ongoing list of character references as well as professional & volunteer references (through workaway & other organizations) that I would be happy to share with you upon request.Interests
