Description
We are a non-profit organization located in one of the most needed sectors of the region, called Aguablanca, in the city of Santiago de Cali, Colombia. We own a theatre in which we develop processes of social intervention through the arts. We also design, create and present big and small format shows.
We have a space in which we develop new ways of learning, such as cultural multiplication, hence the youth need to replicate in their own neighborhood, street, house or community what they have learned with us. It is a space to dream, and share those dreams to see life ...and for life. Our house is full of Vitamin C, Christ, Confidence, Culture, Carnaval, Coexistence, Comunity, Care and lots of C-love! We seek to improve our children and youth's quality of life by working with the community through the arts. We thrive to educate responsible human beings, passionate about life with ethical values such as respect, tolerance and peace.
We, actually means my husband John Jairo and myself Soraya Valencia who actually run this crazy thing of creating art. My husband is an actor, who believes in social kindness and retribution and I ran the accounting, though I am an English teacher.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We own a theater in which we teach kids and young people arts every saturday: circus, theatre, dance, stilts, acrobatics, etc. So we need people that have a background in arts and some experience teaching kids in different social conditions. We need help with construction, with painting, with the children learning another art. We really need active people who can create their own projects AND STAY AT LEAST TWO WEEKS, better more, which means also people that speak some Spanish in order to follow instructions or give instructions.
We need volunteers that can really appreciate being in a rich yet challenging environment, not in a tourist comfy place since we work with really poor kids and families. We need volunteers that can adapt to the situation, find their spot in the theater and make the most out of it. This requires time as well as connecting with the kids, so please think about before applying for a spot here. Thanks for your understanding!Languages spoken

The theater is on the second floor and in the first floor we have two bedrooms with bunk beds. It is small and packed with theater stuff. There is no internet access in the house. There is one bathroom, a small kitchen, laundry, a living room that works as an office. We don't have animals, and we have a zero tolerance for tobacco and alcohol because we are modeling for our kids.
What else ...
Santiago de Cali is a fairly big city, it has some public transportation. There are a lot of things to do such as learning to dance salsa, which we are famous for, learn Spanish, visit tourist places, travel around the city, there is one of the best zoos in Latin america, meet other tourists in hostels, paragliding, go to the river, extreme sports, etc.
