Description
My family, me (Hanna), my husband (Elishalom) and our 1.5 year old son (Shams) live on a beautiful open, south facing piece of hill in Vermont. We are building a natural post and beam/Timber Frame HempLime house, gardening and are about 5 years deep in setting up living off-grid on land as sustainably and naturally as possible.
Elli is A Timber framer by trade, with a passion for natural building and a deep love for the land and the forest.
Our set up is several small structures in a spacious open space. We live in a small cabin, there is a screened outdoor kitchen, an out house with a tub and shower, greenhouse, gardens, old barn and the new house that is being constructed.
There are a few good spots for a Tent or Camper/bus.
we live on 24 acres with open field, big view and sky, forest and a sweet brook.
3 miles away is the town of Hardwick with a coop with local organic food, as well as several farmers markets on the weekends in the near vicinity. There are great trails and many swimming holes and rivers to dip in near by as well.Types of help and learning opportunities

The unique things that might be interesting about staying with us is natural building, getting a feel for trying to get established on land in this way, especially with a baby, hanna has studied plants for health and old ways of being alive on the earth for 13 years so her knowledge will be happily shared. The way we are building our house is trying to substitute all the many many synthetic, plastic, chemical rich etc things that are normally used even in natural building. That is the way we try to do everything here! * we always ask visitors to only bring organic food on the land and thats what we will provide, and not use any synthetic or fragranced products:)

Help
We would love to have help building, we will be trying to close in a garden/greenhouse in a good way, making a better compost system this summer. those are the main extra tasks that will be happening. The everyday tasks are equally or more important, living life with toddler as apart of the team, cleaning (we really strive to keep our land and spaces clean amidst projects and daily living) and maintenance of off grid systems.

At the moment we can only provide camping in a tent and welcome people with their own sleep-able vehicles like a van.
We also provide access to a screened in kitchen with a fridge. Hot outdoor baths and shower. What else ...
Me and Elli have both backpacked all around the world for chunks of our lives and I was blessed with opportunities to jump into many beautiful peoples lives and be raised by all the wisdom. In my experience when you are traveling it is hard to grow roots,, and it took me a long time to do so but now we are in that time of life, of building and creating and it is so hard to find all the pieces needed at once to get to go breath the air of adventure. So the wheels have turned and i am grateful and in order to keep them going I know it is right to welcome as I was welcomed. My prayer in inviting guests is to share some of the rootedness here when you need it and receive the movement of your fresh energy, not from here, coming to say hi. of course, we also need alot of help:))
