Description
Hi!
My name is Stig H. I'am a farmer, from Särna, in north of Dalarna, in Sweden. I have mountain cows, who are a small, trettned rase, and i also have some goats, hens, pigs, a dog and cats. I have 2 kids on halftime. And one of my brothers live in Särna at the same farm as us. From the beginning of june, too the end of september/october, i live at the summer farm, up in the mountains, so from the beginning of june, til the end of september/october, we make our own butter, and "tjuckmjölk" (a special kind of milkproduct).
I need some help, with most of the work we have, at the summer farm, and also home at the farm outside the Village Särna, with the harvest. Taking care of the animals, showeling poop, milking cows, some cleaning, and all the stuff that, is around to running a farm.
When its autumn and we will move the cows from the summerfarm to the ordinary place, and I will introduce you to our common work at the farm with the animals.
I Can be a host, for 2-3 persons, at the same time. And the shortest time to come and work at my farm is 3 weeks. But if u can stay longer, its preferable.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will learn how to take care of the animals, and see how they took care of the animals in the last century without electricity. This is an old cultrual farm up in the mountains, were you will learn alot - but u also must know that its physical hard and heavy work.
Down at the ordinary Farm it is fully modern with electricity and so on. I will tell u more by mail.
its a very beautiful area up at the mountains, with lakes, rivers and wilderness. If u like to hike, skiing, go by snowboard, and fishing, this is a really nice place.Help

In Särna, you will have a own bed, if u are 2 or more at the same time, it will be for you to share the room. Up at the farmstay in mountains, you can have your own cabbin, or you live in the same as us, you keep warm with making fire in the stove.
At the ordinary farm, its a common room with a bed and so on.
We help eachother with making food and clean the house were we live. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, and fika for your work. And you eat the food, that we make and serve. A lots of meat, milk, eggs, chicken and fish. Meat from our own cattle, moose that we hunt, and potatos that we had grown in out own soil. What else ...
Hiking the mountains, fishing, swimming. Up at the mountainfarm it is no transportation, but nice area for hiking and fishing. You can try out to take a dip in the creek - icecold but so nice! The water is so clean that you can drink it directly.
at the ordinary farm, there go some buses to the bigger places like Idre or Mora (bigger city). Here we also have some pub and pizzarestaurant and some small stores. Also a really nice sand-beach to take bath in the summertime. And we have 3 nice ski resorts in this area.A little more information

Well, I spent about two weeks at Stig's farm in early autumn 21 and took some valuable experience from this workaway. I am happy that I was able to learn how to take care of cows, milk them, make butter and try to experiment with making cheese. In addition, I really liked the simple way of… read more
My experience is intersting because I went both to the mountain farm and to the village.
Mountain farm is definitly the best place to go if you want to discover the old way to make butter, to take care of cows, to have your shower, and even to go to the toilets. I lived in a little… read more
And I think he is coming back, after that the covid are under control.
