Description
The project is the vision and creation of Kyveli and Yorgos , two dance artists and movement educators from Greece who envisioned a wooded piece of land as a meeting place for moving and sensing experiences. The concept of the place arose from a deep need to reconnect with nature and to meet a community of similar interests and quests. The idea was conceived in October 2021 when there was nothing but trees on the land and by the summer of 2022, a camp was ready, and the first season became a reality! None of what followed would have been possible without the help of friends and family who supported us every step of the way.
This summer is going to be our third summer for the place which is growing more year after year.
For this season, you can join us during May in one of the following periods.

Our project
It is a hosting space for retreats, educational programs, and artistic residencies.
Our vision is to create a meeting point for people and practices that value nature, honor sensorial experiences, welcome diverse corporealities, and dare to reflect through others. Our deepest desire is to grow slowly yet firmly, like a cypress tree, rooting deeply in a sustainable approach that respects and nourishes otherness. We aspire to be part of a ‘forest-like’, broader ecosystem, alongside like-minded individuals and their trajectories
About the village of Neochori:
Neochori is a mountain village (300m) of Lefkada, about 5km from Nidri. Serenity and impressive view as well as absence of shops are distinguishing features of the village. Instead, there is plenty of green, four springs and a number of paths which are taken care of by the village community every year.
This village was once abandoned by the locals, when they gradually began to approach the coastal areas. Years later, around the late 70's and early 80's, it was rediscovered by people looking for a quiet place close to nature. Somehow it started to attract hippies, artists, people from different parts of the world and finally a community was created.
Today only a few of the families that first settled there remain in the village, but new ones have come, creating a mixture of people and cultures. In recent years, cultural association has been activated and the old school of the village has been renovated, where various activities take place, such as exhibitions, presentations, film screenings, festivals, seminars, etc. Especially in the summer months the village hosts a lot of people from different parts of the world.
We hope that our center will bring life to our village and become a meeting point for artists, educators and practitioners from all over the world!

We shall offer in exchange
• Meals and accommodation - traditional Greek cuisine and a lovely staying in nature!
• Movement and dance practices on our open-air platform.
• Activities such as herbal walks and cultural events in the village of Neochori.
• Small trips on the island during evenings and free days – hiking to the waterfall, hiking to nearby villages, to the beach, etc.
• Learning more about our project and why we believe in and promote dance as a practice of embodiment.
• Meeting a community from all over the world with dance artists, and somatic movement practitioners.
Kyveli's father lives more than 35 years in the village and he is familiar with local herbs, so we can arrange walks for herbal collection. You will also have the opportunity to meet a community of people, those who live in the village, as well as the other volunteers. We can ensure a friendly and respectful environment, in a really beautiful village in Greece, and lots of creative energy vibes!

🌿 For the periods 29 June - 30 July | 04 August - 1 September | 31 August - 30 September 2024
From the 1st to the 29th of July, an artistic residency will take place at our center. Both of us are dance artists, so we organize and offer our place to other artists to stay together for a month as a community, conduct research, and exchange ideas. For this period, we need assistance with preparing our meals in our house! There will be a specific menu, and guidance will be provided by Kyveli, but we need someone with cooking experience for many people who can take responsibility. Additionally, we would appreciate it if this person to have a driver's license.
We are offering three spots for the same period, so you will never have to work more than 5 hours or more than 5 days per week. Typically, the hours we need assistance are from 08:30 to 13:30 or 14:30 to 19:30. On your days off, you will have the opportunity to visit nearby beaches, relax in the village, meet interesting people, participate in cultural events such as music and dance events, and explore this magnificent island!
🌿 For the period from August 4th to September 1st, 2024:
During August, we are seeking a person who can assist us with videography and photography for our dance project!
A dance and somatic movement educational program will be taking place during that period, so this volunteer will be able to attend all classes for free from Monday to Wednesday and then offer their services from Thursday to Saturday for a few hours each day, filming and photographing.

Simple private camping tent in shaded and safe spot in the campsite with access to campsite's facilities (showers, toilets, dining area, hammocks, resting areas, etc)
Mattress, pillow, pillow case, two bed sheets and light cover are provided.
What else ...
The area offers a number of paths to explore surrounded by lush green nature.
A great sightseeing nearby you can go on foot is the famous waterfalls of Nidri. There you can have a cold bath, or just enjoy the sound of falling water.
Furthermore, in case someone comes on their own vehicle, and wants to have an experience of the rest of the island and its worldwide known beaches, we will be more than happy to provide them with useful information for the island and its beautiful spots. If you also want to rent a car or a motorcycle we can easily help you out. There is no public transport from and to the village, usually someone from the village might be able to drop you off to Nidri, but if that is not possible we can definetely call a taxi on request for you (taxi fare is about 15 euros to Nidri, the nearest seaside village).
