    Description

Hello! We are Felipe and Annie and we are the owners of our little BnB and coffee/cacao farm, El Colibri. Felipe is 36 years old, from Bogota and I'm 28 years old from Sweden. We are both very active and love exercise, at the moment we are doing crossfit at our nearest gym in Quimbaya. Animal overs, outdoor people, love travelling and experiencing different cultures, fun, easygoing, relaxed. Yeah we are not very complicated haha!

Felipe and I have lived in Australia, Sweden and now we are here in Colombia since October 2018. Our vision and dream is to create a beautiful place to live, to meet new people from all around the world and a space for our guests to learn about the local culture, produce and explore what this region has to offer.

So far we have tried to do as much as we can ourselves, only hiring locals when absolutely necessary. But things have changed, we need more hands and we need people with the necessary skills to make our dream place come true. This is when we were introduced to workaway by a guest.

Workaway is a perfect fit for us! We love meeting new people for all around the world, making friends and sharing our home. So why not combine it all through workaway? We would be so grateful for some help. Right now we have plans to make a small A-frame house for the two of us so we can rent out the other two houses full time

Today we have two properties on the land, the main traditional house and a cabin made out of bambu with a roof made out of palm leaves. During the biggest part of the year we live in the main house and rent out the bambu cabin, but because it's been hard to make ends meet economically with only one small propery to rent. Every highseason (december and january) we pack all our personal belongings, cats, dogs and all and move to the bambu cabin to be able to rent out the main house for two month. This process of moving everything is timeconsuming, exhausting and just not sustainable for us. This is why we have decided to build an A-frame house thats going to be our home, no more moving and we will be able to rent out the other two properties fulltime.

Our place is in the middle of the Andees, in the heart of the coffee region of Quindió. It's located between the two towns of Filandia and Quimbaya, only 3,5km from Quimbaya. We are in a rural area surrounded by rolling green hills, coffee and plantain fields. It's an absolutely beautiful landscape.

At the moment we are in great need of people that can build an A-frame house which is going to be our home. The structure is going to be made out of wood but mainly bambu (guadua). The building will be in a slope, its very important that the foundations are well secured and strong since the building will be lifted off the ground to create a flat area for the house to be built.

We offer breakfasts that consist of fruit, eggs to taste, arepa and a choice of coffee or tea. There may be the option of oatmeal (podridge) or cereal.

For this build we are looking for carpenters, construction workers, and plumbers. People with experience working with wood, bambu as well as experience with building foundations out of contrete and steel. This will be the project we need workawayers for, to build the house. Their job will be "only" that. We have the idea, the picture of exactly how we want the house. Now we need the help to make our dream home come true!

We are very close to Quimbaya (the nearest town) where you can find all kinds of restaurants, supermarkets, and more. We are located just 1 km from the main road where you can take transportation to nearby towns. We are 300 meters from the river, and for those who enjoy walking, we are surrounded by coffee plantations and rural roads for hiking right at our doorstep.

We're also very close to the popular town of Filandia, horse riding tours, hikes to waterfalls, rafting down the river on a bambu raft, cacao and coffee tours only 1km away, amazing local food and beverages in the nearby towns of Filandia and Quimbaya and sooo much more!

With Quimbaya only being 3,5km away if also possible to get food deliveries from the local restaurants and supermarkets. Our closest restaurant is aprox 1km away, where our road connects with the main road. The place is called Tinto y Guaro. They offer cacao and coffee tours as well as food and drinks at their restaurant.
