Hello hosts!
We are Kay and Jim and we are from Wales UK.We are a flexible and hard working couple who love the opportunity of a new challenge.
We originally joined Workaway in December 2017 after our daughters mentioned that people would benefit from our love of gardening landscaping and passion for plants!
We've had a thoroughly enjoyable adventure which has led to working in France and Spain and the UK.
We have also been involved in a long term commitment of two years at a manor house in North Oxfordshire in which we assisted the head gardener in all aspects of gardening work including pruning,weeding,planting and propagation.
The owners have a cut flower business known as the "Landgardeners" and provide fresh cut flowers for events and florists.We were involved in all aspects of this from cutting and preparing flowers to delivery and installation.
Some things we love...
Travelling and cooking delicious food for our friends and family!
Enjoying good wine in good company.
Gardening, hiking and skiing.
Learning new things, music, conversation, languages,food and drink.
We are down to earth and have a young and vibrant approach to life.
We love to laugh and look forward to meeting like minded people :)
Kay was a nurse for many years and since retiring has volunteered for the National Trust as a gardener.
Jim worked for the civil service and since retiring has dabbled in a few creative projects.
We had a seasonal business for many years where we sold plants and shrubs in our local area.
We have a strong knowledge of horticulture, planting, seed propagation, the care and upkeep of plants, as well as some knowledge of landscaping.Over the years we've tackled most jobs in the home from laying floors,patios,fencing painting and some building work.
-We love animals and are happy to walk dogs, take care of cats,horses and chickens etc.
-Jim has a TEFL qualification and has taught English in Spain and the UK.
-Kay has also taught English to adults in Spain.
We can provide references from all Hosts as necessary.
