Jack and I are moving to Canada in January. We would love to live in the mountains for a few months - we are active, enthusiastic and love being outdoors.

Hello!

Jack and I are a couple from the UK. We are moving to Canada in January for a couple of years, and would love to start our adventure in the mountains.

Jack works as a structural engineer specialising in sustainable buildings, and I have worked as a lawyer and for refugee charities. We are 29/30 and are moving to Canada to spend more time outdoors and explore the country! We are looking for a workaway from January to around April (although are flexible). We fly to Vancouver on 12 January.

I have participated in a few workaways before - and had some really great experiences. I worked in an ecolodge in Morocco for a month, a yoga retreat in Greece and for a family in Sri Lanka. I loved getting to know new places and people through working.

Jack enjoys DIY/carpentry/fixing things. I have worked in hospitality/cleaning/tourism before. We have both spent winters working in the European Alps. We are open to new and different work!

Jack: I have been an engineer for 5 years and specialise in timber buildings. I grew up in the countryside in Wales, with horses and a small flock of sheep. Over the years I have done a lot of DIY/general maintenance and cared for animals. I spent a summer a few years ago renovating a holiday home in Devon where I painted/fitted carpets/installed curtains/fixed cabinets/power washed etc.

Rosie: I have worked in a number of hospitality roles, as a waitress, cleaner, cook, host and hotel worker. I am confident cooking, cleaning, preparing rooms, and dealing with people. At home, my parents used to run a campsite so I am used to helping visitors, cleaning toilets, emptying bins, unblocking drains and general maintenance. I have trained as a yoga teacher. I have worked with young people from vulnerable communities.

What else ...

We are active people so happy being outside and undertaking physical tasks. We are both keen cooks. We have both worked a winter season in the European Alps - Rosie as a cook and Jack being a company representative for a number of hotels. Our hobbies include trail running, cycling, skiing, kayaking and swimming. We are very excited about our impending trip to Canada!
