Hello! My name is Amelia and I grew up in New Mexico and The Netherlands.
Since graduating from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine (USA), I've been working remotely in Portland and I'm excited to travel again. I've traveled in Spain and Costa Rica through Workaway and have had great experiences and met amazing people.
I enjoy hands-on experiences, practicing Spanish, meeting and sharing ideas with kind and thoughtful people, familiarizing myself with new cultures, and helping to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable community.
I spent my early childhood raising goats, chickens, ducks and a donkey in an agricultural village along the Rio Grande River in New Mexico. Some of my fondest memories from that time are of getting up early to milk the goats and making goat-milk ice-cream.
When I was ten my family moved to the Netherlands, where I was immersed in a Dutch Waldorf (Steiner) School. My home for the next eight years was a medieval city with cobblestoned streets, canals, and lots of bikes. I enjoyed the freedom to explore on my bicycle, the sense of community, becoming fluent in Dutch, and being able to visit many special and beautiful places in Europe.
After graduating from high school, I took a gap year and worked on several farms in northern Spain. I also worked at a goat dairy in New Mexico (making goat cheese on the farm and selling it at the Farmers Market) and at several hostels in Costa Rica.
I like to live intentionally and mindfully, I love building community and having thought-provoking conversations. I enjoy cooking, playing tennis and piano, reading, walking, biking, and gardening.Interests
