**Zack and I are planning to travel through the South Island of New Zealand starting in April 2024 and will be looking for South Island hosts for April/May and potentially longer :))
Hello!
I (Isabel) have had this workaway account since 2015 and have utilized it extensively during many solo travels in Europe and South America. I have had great success and many a magical experience through the worktrade platform.
I am now traveling with my partner Zack so have upgraded to a couples accounts.
Zack and I just moved to New Zealand from Hawaii where we first met and lived for many years. We are staying here on a working holiday visa for one year.
I have much experience living and working on homesteads/permaculture farms, I have worked as a nanny, cook, barista, farmer and most recently as a licensed Massage therapist.
I am passionate about food, nature and bodywork.
Zack is a trained carpenter and has most recently been working in construction during his time on Kauai. Previously he spent years as a swim/water polo coach for adolescents.
We are both kind, respectful, mature people exploring a new chapter of life in New Zealand.
We are hard-working and handy for many different needs and both have experience working with children.Interests

(Isabel)
I am passionate about many things but the majority of my skills revolve around food, gardening, child care and bodywork.
As a Massage Therapist I am wellness-oriented and love yoga/movement and meditation practices. I have worked in multiple restaurants as a cook as well as in the front of house, serving and interacting with customers. I absolutely love being outdoors and getting my hands dirty--I don't shy from hard labor and I have a lot of experience working with children.
I also love to write, creatively or otherwise.
My greatest skill is my flexibility and good attitude! I will try anything once and love to learn new things:)
(Zack)
Most of my professional experience is as a swimming and water polo coach for kids of all ages, but most recently I have been working as a carpenter for nearly 3 years. I am a team player and capable of filling whatever role is needed, but am also comfortable doing solitary work. I take pride in the quality and effort of my work and enjoy the feeling of completing tasks.Age

This is a magical place that I believe gives to you whatever you seek from it, an absolutely beautiful space with a very special atmosphere.
I was here a short amount of time and was still greatly impacted from my experience.
This is a place to be, to be yourself, to be simple, to work in the earth and see the product of your… read more
I have to give huge thanks to Emilijan, Boris, Rada, Tresa and the whole team here at this lovely hostel!
When I reached out to Emilijan I had been left in the lurch with two hosts cancelling on me last minute and it turned out to be such perfect timing to be swept up north with hostel manager Boris as an extremely last minute and very… read more
This workaway has a lot to offer volunteers that value natural beauty, simple living and thought provoking discussions.
The croft and land are truly beautiful and the inter-personal dynamics of the small island community are highly entertaining, if not a little wacky.
The work was simple and hands-on… read more

I spent just over a week at this farm, although I made the decision to leave sooner than anticipated due to personal reasons I would still highly recommend this host to the right volunteer.
This is a truly loving and accepting community that seems to eagerly open its arms to any and all persons looking for a temporary home.

What a wonderful stay I had with these wonderful people !
Work was very relaxed, watering the lawn, feeding the animals the food was plentiful, the surroundings beautiful.
More than anything spending time with the family, each one so kind and generous I felt immediately at home. Nuni was such a good friend to have,… read more
I stayed with this community for about a month and had some of the most incredible experiences of my life!
First it should be noted that this may not be the best workaway if your intent is to learn a lot about permaculture or farming, this is first and foremost a community rather than a productive… read more
Im very glad for the experience. Thanks again guys!
Arriving at Steve and Janes was like falling headfirst into a fairytale. Their property was one of the most beautiful sites I've laid my eyes on. Gorgeous ponds filled with adorable ducklings, overflowing veg patch, countless fruit trees, bees, rabbits, homebrewed beer and aperitifs, amazing star-gazing, it's a little… read more
