  • Description

My name is Carlotta, I'm 27 y.o. and I'm a wildlife veterinarian and avid traveller from Italy. Most of my travels I've done alone, with my small backpack and few books, following the flow, trying to absorb the cultural and natural richness that each place on this planet has to offer. I would say that travelling has deeply shaped my mind and soul, making me a braver, more independent and emphatic person, and also making me realize how much I can still grow and learn. I'm by nature a curious, smiling and sociable person, always willing to learn something new and embrace new adventures.
Dedicating my life to protecting wild animal populations and their natural environment has always been my childhood dream. My profound fascination and passion for the natural world, led me to where I'm now, working daily with free-ranging animals. The beauty of the respectful observation of wild animals in their natural environment, as part of a bigger cycle of life, is, to me, one of the most profound feelings and gifts we can receive from life.
My wildlife-related travels brought me to South America and Africa. Still, as a vet student I was spending my summer vacation times volunteering in remote locations in the Amazon Ecuadorian rainforest, Costa Rican cloud-forest mountains, or in rescue centres in South Africa. Another summer I've spent backpacking, cycling and camping across South East Asia. In 2020, I landed in Argentina, where I lived for 8 months completing my curricular veterinary internships and making a lifetime exchange experience.
Finally, I had the immense luck to realize a 4-months externship period in Malawi. There I was working intensively on my degree thesis project carrying out a study on infectious diseases affecting wildlife and impacting their conservation. I would say that Malawi was the turning point that made me unconditionally fall in love with Africa and its incredible nature.
Back in Europe and after graduation, I enrolled on a 3-year specialization program on wildlife health. After that, I hope I'll be able to use my knowledge and skills to protect the beauty of the Planet, opening my mind and heart to new exciting adventures.
