João and Ziortxa are amazing beings and beautiful people. They were very helpful, cooked amazing food and helped around the ashram, cleaning and also played lots of music too which was great. I see them like family, amazing brother and sister it was beautiful to spend time with them. I recommend other people host them, I'd love to host them again, they are always welcome here and will always be part of the ashram. Enrico and Soundous (and the two kids ;) ) are truely wonderful hosts with a broad knowledge about permaculture and agroecology. I expected my first work-away to help with farm work, but also came home with a nice basis of permaculture knowdlege and experience. The farm is located between beatifull hills which gives a wonderful sunrise from the room you're staying in. Both work around the farm is very doable, and both Soundous and Enrico are excellent communicators which results in a worriless work schedule. We were mainly helping clearing and maintaining the vineyards, planting new trees and plants, cutting wood, a quick course about bees and honey. Soundous was always preparing a delicious lunch every day with simple Italian products, Enrico gave me a nice tour across some of the local suppliers in the region to taste the fresh and local products. The moment I left the farm I already missed it! Highly recommended place for a work away experience!

Jack was a great help here. He's bilingual and helped translate for some of the other volunteers here. And he's a great musician! If you have him stay with you, you'll have a great sound track for your life. We're happy to recommend him for all your projects.

We spent almost one month with Amanda, Giles and the rest of their lovely family. Immediately when we arrived they welcomed us into their lives and treated us as one of their own. They are in the hospitality business so they really have this part down to a science. As our first workaway stop, we couldn't have asked for a better experience and quality people to show us how it ought to work travelling like this. We arrived in early April so we were asked to help prepare the gardens for the summer season, setting up the lawn furniture and other outdoor tasks. We almost everyday enjoyed our choice of job as there was always plenty to do. The gentleman who helps them full time with the work was very kind, has a great attitude in guiding us, and was more than respectful of our time and varying abilities. We did about 5 hours a day and on the weekends were offered opportunities to tour and take trips to explore the Dordogne region. We ate super well the whole time and they were very accommodating of any food requests we had. We had the opportunity to try local cuisine and to experience French and English culture in the south of France which was a pretty unique experience. They always asked us to come along if they had plans and their kids, around our age, treated us like family for the whole stay. If you want to explore the French countryside of Dordogne, swim or canoe in the river whenever you want, and feel at home, this is the place!! We hope to come back soon :)

Had an incredible time here! wish I could have stayed longer. Work was straightforward, I was working mostly at the bar which was really fun (even with my limited Spanish) Loved the vibe, other volunteers and staff. lots of fun, not overly hectic for a party hostel, but still plenty of opportunity to party if you want! thanks Hugo! until next time

Tamara and Simon are a lovely couple. Both are very respectful, helpful, reliable and very easy to have around. They are always willing to take on any task and Simon especially, has been a constant surprise with his wide range of building skills. Now looking back, we really didn't take full advantage of them! These two have bundles of energy, always enthusiastic and pleasantly cheerful. Fully recommended. Thanks Tamara & Simon for your help over the last three weeks and good luck with your future workaway experiences.

It was a pleasure to have had Neva helping us in the middle of strongest nasty mistral wind! She is a fine observing and methodically acting person, gifted in finding her way in the mountains around. She has an excellent level of French to which we hope having been able to contribute. Thank you for your very helpful participation in outdoor tasks and common house tasks!

Dear Sisters of Mary Morning Star, Thank you so much for the wonderful past two weeks. Staying in this convent has truly been a wonderful experience. The sisters are all very kind, inviting, and open. I felt very welcome and appreciated during my stay. The sisters are open and invite you into their way of life. I’m a spiritual person but I’m not a practicing Catholic believer. For the sisters, this was not a problem, and we had a lot of beautiful conversations about spirituality and belief. I was invited to take part in some philosophy classes the sisters were having and also took part in mass. I found it interesting and inspiring to see the sisters practice their faith in their way of life, and it encouraged me and the other volunteers I was staying with to have a lot of interesting conversations about life and how to live. You are free to choose if you want to take part in the religious events or if you don’t want that, there are no 'strict rules'. Every volunteer is respected, and no religious beliefs are forced upon you. There is room for everyone's own personal beliefs; it's a peaceful, kind, and respectful environment. Accommodation: I had the luxury of having my own room which was super nice. I had a private bathroom, and they were both super clean when I arrived. Food: You get served two delicious warm meals per day: a warm lunch and a warm dinner. Breakfast is self-service. The sisters provide you with bread, delicious jam, and other things to put on your bread, and you make your own breakfast every morning in the guest wing of the convent. On the weekend, they also provide you with food to cook for yourself. Work: I did a multitude of different tasks. I worked in the garden, in the kitchen, and helped them with the products the sisters sell. It was good, fair, and nice to do. You work for 5 days a week for 4 - 5 hours (sometimes even less) a day with a nice lunch break, and on weekends you are completely free, so you can also do an overnight trip to another city in Italy. Location: The location of the convent is great; there is a 30-minute bus that leaves for Parma every hour from the bus stop in front of the convent. From Parma, you can travel to different big cities in Italy. Overall, this workaway is very well-organized and wonderful. You stay in a beautiful place in Italy, and you get the chance to live in a special way for the short time you are staying there. For me, it was an enriching life experience that I will never forget. Thank you so much. Love, Eden This is the review of Amanda & kieley (there workaway account expired so they can not post a review anymore) Amanda: To add to what Eden has already said, this has been the most wonderful experience for me. As a Christian, I was able to participate in mass, prayer times, Bible studies and Q&As with the sisters which helped me grow in my own faith. They were extremely generous with their time and resources and I felt very cared for the entire time I was here ❤️ the workaway felt like it was a retreat I didn’t know I needed until I arrived and a very needed time of relaxation after 8 months of continuous travel. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this convent and all the sisters in it. Thank you so so much! ❤️ Amanda

Manon is a super nice, warm, kind and respectful person and an incredible volunteer. She volunteered for us for two weeks with her close friend. They were both really amazing volunteers, assisting on anything that was needed, whether it was on the land, making paths, planting, bringing stones for the canal, cleaning the guesthouse … they were always ready to get involved and poured their energy into the work they were doing. They also created a beautiful warm vibe with our other volunteer, sharing meals, singing and playing guitar together in the evenings. I highly recommend her to other hosts. We will miss you! Much love

Connie, Fabian and Anastasia are the most genuine and sweetest souls. As soon as I arrived, they made me feel welcome in their home and as we took plenty of time to exchange, we really got to know each other. I felt part of their family during my stay and we shared so many precious moments together. They introduced me to their friends, families and to Bogota, which I got to discover with them. I helped with the cooking, with was so fun, as we could all enjoy the food together. I also learnt a great lot and got to sharpen my artistic abilities, through the projects we worked on during my time with them. Meeting people like Connie, Fabian and Anastasia is so inspiring, and what gives meaning to traveling. I am so grateful for our time together and miss them a great lot already!

Paloma tiene mucho a enseñar. Honestly she puts most people in her age group to shame - she’s already putting all her efforts into creating a sustainable forest garden and refuge for the doggos, and it’s working. After only a few days she had explained to me the inner workings and benefits of a polyculture garden vs. a monoculture. To see agroforestry in action was incredibly reassuring and inspiring. I had a hand injury just before I was supposed to come and Paloma was very understanding, welcoming and accommodating, just gave me appropriate tasks as opposed to heavy lifting. Además es en lugar hermosa, justo al lado del rió (Nahua and the dogs will show you the way), far from everything, so this is the spot if you need an escape, some peace, and some mindfulness. Y si quiere aprender su español, Paloma está más que dispuesta a ayudarle Gracias Paloma, por haciendo el trabajo que necesita el mundo. Nos vemos.

In march I stayed three weeks with this wonderful family, but it felt so much more and less at the same time. It was my first workaway-experience alone, but they welcomed me with such open arms. Most of my time "working" I spent playing with the four children. Playing board games, reading, going to the library, making up fun games, listening to audiobooks, puzzling, making bracelets, learning how to solve a rubrics cube and how to ride an unicycle and so much more in the house or outside. Everyday was different, but we always had a lot of fun! Appart from that, I helped with washing the dishes, setting the table and sometimes a little cooking and vacuuming. In my freetime I also spent most of my time with the kids, sometimes joined them during their hobby's or visited a city with the oldest one. During the whole time, I got to enjoy the delicious food Christina cooked. Even now, three weeks later I still have contact with the two older children and I really hope it stays that way. Hopefully I can visit you sometime soon! Thank you for this wonderful time!!
