Hallo, ich bin Kate und ich komme aus England. Ich wohne in Deutschland seit Juli 2020. I have done some workaways in that time. I have a German residency visa and I am able to live and work freely in Germany. I have just got back from travelling in India and I am plotting my next move.

I am interested in living and working in the countryside, ecological, alternative and self-sufficiency lifestyles, the gift economy, plant-based cooking, community living, climate / social activism/projects and improving my German. I'd love to learn more about working in a garden, growing food and permaculture. A workaway doesn't need to include all these things, but at least one needs to be there.

I'm really open to all kinds of work and have lots of different experiences and skills that could be useful. I have done all kinds of things on workaways: cooking for up to 35 people, cleaning, varnishing floors, gardening, walking donkeys, moving bricks and more. If I am being particular, I love to be working in the kitchen, being involved in organising meaningful projects, I enjoy training and teaching and I like a little time outside working in a garden. I'm happy to help out with childcare if it's useful.

I am responsible, reliable, and can work without much supervision. I speak and understand basic German (B1) and I am willing to improve. I'm a friendly and warm-hearted person who enjoys a good conversation. I am spiritually inclined, but not particularly disciplined about practice at the moment. I love to cook: mostly vegan/plant-based: my favourite food to cook and eat is Indian. I don't drink much alcohol. I have travelled quite a lot and lived in other countries: France, Ireland, The Czech Republic, India. I am happy with a basic lifestyle.

Quais são suas habilidades?

I've had more of an adventure than a typical career. Recently I have been organising and coordinating teams and projects in an NGO (climate activism), teaching English to German teenagers on summer camps and spent 7 months working as a cook for a touring theatre company here in Germany.

I have also worked as an English Teacher. I have a CELTA teaching certificate and have experience teaching individual and group classes to children, adults and in businesses.

I worked in Human Resources in the business world for many years gained lots of project management skills as well as skills in recruitment/facilitation/training design and delivery.

I've worked in two small mental health charities. I managed a kitchen (and the volunteers in it) in one cafe project. In the other, I recruited and managed volunteers and promoted and organised training programmes.

I taught swing dancing for three years in London.

Many years ago, whilst I was studying, I worked in the hospitality industry in a variety of roles: waitress, commis chef, assistant manager. I'm friendly and personable so I am very good at looking after guests.

I'm able to manage social media accounts and have managed the basics of a wordpress website if that's useful to you!

I've been an au pair twice and got involved in gardening work and animal care in previous volunteering roles.

In summary, I can do lots of different things and I'm always happy to learn new things - it keeps me young.
