Hi :) My name is Sophie and I am working as a teacher at a secondary school. I have a passion for travel and spent the last decade of my life studying, living, backpacking and travelling to many countries around the world. Last year while travelling in Canada, I met my partner Joe and we are both currently living in the UK.

*** A little bit about us ***
The past 5 years I have worked various childcare jobs as a nanny, au pair, tutor and now as a qualified science teacher in the UK; before that I was a waitress for 7 years in various cafes, restaurants and clubs around the world. I have a passion for food and the outdoors and currently have interests in sustainable fashion and learning how to sew my own clothes, organic gardening and foraging for food. Joe works outdoors maintaining the parks and green spaces in our city. He is great at DIY, landscaping and general maintenance. Joe's current interests are learning about woodwork, making furniture, cooking and gardening.

*** Our workaway experience ***
While we were travelling in Canada in our campervan, we did a workaway in 2 different farms. One was an animal rescue farm so we helped with feeding, grooming and caring for the many animals that lived there (cats, dogs, horses, goats, rabbits, cows and sheep). The other farm was a homestead where we learned about sustainable farming and helped plant all the fruits and vegetables for the season. Joe also helped collect fallen trees from the nearby forrest and chop wood to get ready for the next winter.

*** What are we looking for ***
We are currently planning to leave our jobs in August and therefore looking to spend September 2024 onwards on some workaway adventures. We want to explore more of the UK while we are here and create amazing experiences together meeting new people, learning new things and exploring new places. If you have an interesting workaway experience for us, please do not hesitate to contact me! We love learning new things and developing our skills, so we are always open to new ideas. We prefer paid positions but are open to unpaid positions too. Joe is British and I am on a pre-settled status with the EU settlement scheme and therefore can live and work in the UK.
