We had an amazing experience staying with Barb and Wayne. We came here to work hard, and that’s exactly what we got – which we truly appreciated. We know that the end of the season comes with lots of tough jobs, and we’re glad we could help so Barb and Wayne didn’t have to do it all on their own. Barb is a fantastic cook, and we were always well taken care of with great meals, comfortable accommodation, and access to lots of fun outdoor equipment during our free time. Wayne is an excellent leader who gives clear instructions, answers questions patiently, and shares valuable advice for life. We felt very comfortable on the island and are grateful for all the experiences we gained there. Wishing you both all the best! Jakob and Tom

The homestead dream is alive and well! My partner and I stayed with Ally and Mick for just over two weeks, they couldn't have been more hospitable and generous with their wealth of knowledge shared. We were lucky enough to be there for two birthdays, an anniversary and Thanksgiving, and we were welcomed like family for the celebrations! The workload was fair and we had the opportunity to learn about their sustainable way of life and in doing so got to be immersed in the local community. Strongly recommend these hosts for a wholesome and educational cultural experience- thanks guys!!

I stayed with Matt and another coworker for 7 days, taking care of the lava garden. We worked 3 hours a day, tidying up the space, watering plants and other related tasks. Matt is a good host, kind, provided us with all the tools we needed, with clear directions and a flexible schedule based on everyone’s needs. He is also very knowledgable about the islands plants environment and history. The description of the profile is accurate for the place and for the living/working arragements. We also had the occasion to go in the night to a local festival and enjoy a concert. Overall it was a really good and unique experience :)

One of the best Workaway stays ever! 🤩 Astrid and Chris welcomed us with such generosity and warmth! We spent 10 wonderful days working on two fencing projects for the horses, and it was an experience as enriching as it was friendly. We were impressed by your infectious passion and enthusiasm ❤️ The delicious food, including vegetarian options, was a real pleasure. We are grateful for your hospitality and generosity. We hope to return soon and share unforgettable moments together again.🦋

Wow! Aprendimos a recolectar cacao y a preparar café. **100% recomendado. ¡Mil gracias por todo!🩵🩵🩵

What Lauren, Devon and the boys are creating here is truly beautiful. Their philosophies and strong mindsets were super inspiring to be around and their 2 boys River and Tao were such awesome cuties with a wealth of knowledge from growing up more connected to the land like this, theyre gonna grow up to be Legendary. Me and Leah my partner were stoked to have been able to join in on the creative building projects they had going and get stuck into their wonderfully diverse gardens. They've been super supportive for us in our travels helping us out where we needed with no weird pressures just genuine help, leading by example. Thankyouuuu! Look forward to see you bruzzies again!

Francesco was a great help in and around the house. He stayed for three weeks and during that time our place was cleaner and more organized than ever before. He also really helped us to declutter. Francesco was always open for helping us with whatever we needed any time that we needed help. We didn’t even have to tell him what chores he could do, he always worked very enthusiastically and independently making sure the place was clean. Thank you so much. In the three weeks we also really became friends. We had a lot of good late night talks with tea or a beer, watched some movies and played games. Francesco was always open to hang out after the kids were in bed. He was always super polite and sweet and wanted to make sure he doesn’t disturb us (he never did, we were happy to hang out) Though he had never been on a vegan diet he accommodated and was vegan for our kids allergy for the time of his stay. He always made sure our kid was safe. We really appreciated that. We are so grateful to have got to know Francesco and he’s always welcome to come back. We'll miss you and we literally see by the level of how organized how house is without you that you’re gone. Thank you for everything and we wish you all the best for your further travel 🩷

I had an amazing time at Tim's Workaway! My favorite parts were the animals, and the cooking. Tim's dog is so loyal and devoted to him, that it's just beautiful to see. There is a cat here who will come to you, and loves being pet. The provided meals ranged from hearty spaghetti to all-you-could-eat burritos. In the kitchenette (which was a space designated for Workawayers) I cooked everything from delicious cheesy garlic fries, to steak, to fried pb&j sandwiches and fluffy pancakes. We weren't limited portion-wise, but premium ingredients (e.g. steak) are on you. My contributions here mostly consisted of manual labor: excavating, clearing brush, and making improvements to an existing off-grid plumbing system! I learned a tremendous amount, and would recommend this host to anybody. If the type of work I did doesn't appeal to you, ask if he may need help with something else. Tim is extremely accommodating, resourceful, and solutions-oriented. I would've loved to chat more, but often found myself listening to what he had to say instead. (This is a good thing, some of the things he says change the ways you think, like reading a new book) Cautions, tips, nice-to-haves, etc: -A car, or even a motorcycle, will help you A LOT here. This place is very remote. There are no stores to pick up provisions for 1hr (and even THAT store is in a small town) -Weather is a consideration. You might be burning firewood to stay warm. Your clothes will not dry quickly and laundry will require careful planning. You may feel cold after you exit the shower, but it makes you feel alive. -You may find this Workaway to be spiritually significant. This experience is about discovery, liberty, and independence. -One needs to be a bit practical in order to succeed here. Problem-solving skills are a must. You won't always be able to Google the answers out here. Some problems require teamwork to overcome. -Stay longer than two weeks! Trust me!

Lea and Felix were a pleasure to host! During their stay, they helped with a wide range of tasks including housework, food preparation, entertaining our toddler, lawn mowing, painting, and even assisting with a building project. They got stuck in and got things done - no need for direction. Both are practical, capable, hands-on, make very good coleslaw and they made the most of their time in our little town. They are fun, proactive, and easy to be around — we’d gladly welcome them back any time. Highly recommended to any future hosts!

Howard and Alex were a great pleasure to host. They drove up with beautiful smiles and intelligent conversation, and it was all a great experience to have them here! They are respectful, kind, generous, educated, independent, self-starters, experienced, and knowledgeable volunteers with years of DIY experience and organizational skills. Howard is a cheerful gentleman who worked on tasks ranging from setting up the flame throwing weeder to sorting out an installation issues with our French-speaking staff (he speaks excellent French!). He helped install an extremely heavy antique fountain basin for our rose garden, stacked yards and yards of wood, polished our pots and pans until they had mirror finishes, laundered bedding weekly, carried out errands to the hardware store and supermarket, helped move furniture around, took out trash and compost, and regularly helped set up and clear up after meals, among many other tasks. He's brilliant at new table games (Qwirkle and Spoons) and an excellent competitor. He took on clearing pasture manure responsibly, with a team and with Alex, and everyone enjoyed his company. He's a team player who showed, and received, respect and appreciation. Alex, Howard's wife, is a bright and cheerful personality whose "good morning" greeting blows the cobwebs away. She is inspiring and possesses an infectious warm personality. It feels good to be around her. Her strengths lie with organization. She understands where things need to go, what makes sense where, and employed this skill especially well on her last 3 days with us to help us organize a newly decorated and very large living room into a comfortable and intimate living space. She demonstrated this skill daily when clearing the dishwasher to put things away, with pressing laundry, and preparing rooms for new volunteers. She was a very big help with our large rose garden, watering and weeding, and deadheading. Her hidden talent is with cooking. She makes a delicious spaghetti meat sauce and beautiful salads. Like her husband, she is kind, intelligent, and generous, and an excellent conversationalist. She mentored new volunteers, and passed on her knowledge to incoming volunteers. Again, Howard and Alex were a great pleasure to host. They were respectful of all our house rules, every single one, especially on the weekends. We truly hope to see them again, and we wish them well with all their future adventures!

It was a pleasure to have him in our house. He is reliable in the services and left a perfectly clean room for the next workawayer. Thanks for this small but precious gesture!

I visited the school just for 2 days on my way through. Levi is an incredible host, making you feel right at home. The projects and systems they have in place to keep the school running are inspiring. The students are eager to learn and friendly as well, not to mention the delicious food you will eat at the school! I hope to visit again very soon.

It was great to host Tom – he stayed with us for a week and he was a big help and we enjoyed the time spent with him. He did a lot of work in the forest: loading logs onto the trailer and stacking them in the barn, stacking more wood in the barn, making log piles in the woods, and collecting and burning branches on the fire. (And he cut lots of apples too!) He worked fast and well. We especially appreciated his enthusiasm for seeing and experiencing the place – he was curious, interested in many things, appreciative, and overall a very pleasant person to have around. The only negative is that he didn't stay longer:)). But we totally understand - the whole world is waiting for him! :)

We have just returned from an amazing and enriching workaway here. We spent a month at the chateau and would happily have stayed another month with Micaela and John, our superb hosts. From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a fun and stimulating workaway. John and Micaela are incredibly kind, generous and welcoming individuals. They work long and hard hours to ensure the workaway team is happy, fulfilled and productive. Our work consisted of gardening, shopping for groceries at the local markets, collecting fellow workaways, helping to erect a greenhouse, laundry, plumbing, furniture placement and the list goes on! The ethos at the Chateaux is to find a project that suits your skills and interests. Fellow volunteers and the full time staff really made our month fun and interesting. It was great to learn about other cultures from around the world. Our afternoons were spent cycling and hiking in the stunning countryside and getting to know the locals. We are hoping to volunteer at this magical place again next year.

I went a few times to the library and all of my experiences were super nice. I did some english practice and teaching Ukulele to her nice. Then we did a teaching video for a mindmapping exercice for a summer challenge. And the last time I came to read books to a group of local children. I was so amazed by the level of english of the kids & efforts they put it to learn so young. Hoang is super lovely and her dedication to this project is incredible. Thank you so much for such a gorgeous experience.

Staying with Jacquie and Alan was probably the best decision I made this year. Not only did I get two know two very kind, friendly and welcoming people, but I was also able to see all the love, time and effort they put into their work on the farm. Although it can be a lot to take in at first, the two made it very easy to not only get used to the life on a farm, but they gave me the opportunity to fully immerse myself into their world. In the beginning I was very uncertain on how to handle specific animals, but I was never pushed to do anything. Jacquie and Alan know all of their animals and their characters by heart and explained everything I should know about them. Helping out on the sanctuary did not feel like work to me, as I always enjoyed it very much. I was never told at what time what task needed to be done, so I was able to create a routine that worked for me. Each day ended with one of Alans delicious meals, which I was always looking forward to. I really enjoyed being in their company. Both of them have many stories to share, and we sometimes sat for hours just talking, about lots of different things. I am grateful for the time I got to spend with them. I was able to learn a lot about the different animals: how funny goats can be, how stubborn pigs are (until you get the Barley), how patient donkeys can be, the different ways a cat shows affection (especially Willow) and how much dogs underestimate their own weight. Jacquie and Alan have created an amazing place, and I have so much respect for the two of them. Each day they put their animals above anything else and give them the best life they could have. Wherever you go there is one of their wonderful animals waiting to get some love. (Except for the geese, they enjoy being left alone. But don’t worry, they’ll loudly remind you :) ).

Brooo, The experience was incredible! Vicky and Jackie were the best hosts I could have asked for. My first experience in Africa was unforgettable thanks to them. They took care of us volunteers in every possible way. At school, the children were incredibly energetic — they taught me so much, even just through their looks. It’s definitely a reality I want to keep supporting! See you soon for sure!

Saludos y muchas gracias

To Jonathan and Tanya, First of all, thank you for hosting me for two weeks! Jonathan provided clear work instructions throughout my stay and was incredibly patient with my limited English. Tanya, meanwhile, cooked absolutely wonderful meals – I believe she’s a chef worthy of a five-star restaurant. They also took me to Moulins and Vichy, always ensuring I felt safe, secure, and thoroughly enjoyed my time. Thank you so very much!
