We had the absolute pleasure of spending a few weeks with Titus, Jess and their little one, Gabriel. It felt more like having friends over than Workawayers. They are such kind, caring and down-to-earth people, and we really enjoyed every moment with them. They helped with all sorts of projects around the house and on the land: cutting and chipping trees (great compost for the future greenhouse!), general maintenance and creative problem solving. Titus and I (Robert) designed and built a temporary outdoor shower together, a “temporary” one that we hope will stay for many years to come. Jess was amazing with our son Ender, giving Carmen a bit of time to breathe and take care of other things. Ender absolutely loved spending time with Jess and Gabriel, and seeing the two little ones play together was such a joy. We also went on lovely walks and little trips together, shared meals, laughter and great conversations. All in all, wonderful people who we were truly happy to have in our home, and who we now proudly call our friends. You’ll be lucky if you get the chance to host them! 💛

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't have found a better one - Iacopo was an amazing host! He is generous, honest and happy to share his winemaking knowledge. His wines are top quality, so it was great to see the process of making them. We had a great time together and I will cherish the memories we've made along the way. I definitely recommend Iacopo as a host if you really want to learn about wine. If you're ready to work hard, your efforts will be rewarded.

I had such a fantastic time volunteering here. Becky is an amazing host, she is so welcoming and kind, a brilliant person to work with on the farm, share the space and time here with, share laughs, interesting insightful conversations and learn a lot from! I did a variety of tasks including pruning olive and cork trees, clearing veggie beds ready for planting, building steps to the sheep pen, collecting and juicing cactus fruit, apples and grapes! I adore all of the animals on the farm, such friendly and snuggly company to have, the cats and dogs never failed to put a smile on my face. Becky brought me to different events going on in the area which were such cool experiences. She also took me to see the gorgeous reservoir nearby which was so so lovely to swim in. I also took the dogs on stunning walks from the farm with such incredible views of portugal and spain so close by! This is such a serene place and incredible spot to spend time and meet lovely people. Thank you so much for everything Becky, I am truly grateful for this experience I had!! (and hopefully will back soon) 😁😸

My volunteer experience was incredible! Thank you so much to Michael, Mr. Murari, and the entire staff for their support. I had a very loving and spontaneous time with the children; they are very well-behaved. I left with tears in my eyes. I hope the project continues to evolve. Thank you for the opportunity to share a little in this space. I truly felt at home. God bless you.

Dear Bea Words are again lacking when it comes to describing Bea. Kind, thoughtful, insightful, responsible, she took care of us all. Bea's main task was to cook, and she did it with flying colors, we have had a fantastic Italian month in the kitchen with delicious food and training in Italian cuisine. Bea knows team building, a skilled decorator/painter, she mastered everything she was assigned and saw the needs around her without asking. She functioned more as a fellow worker. You are Fantastic. Positive attitude to your surroundings and life. Good conversations and lots of laughter. Highly recommended! Thank you so much to you and Val for choosing us. We are humble.... I miss my daughters.

Jess and James were a joy to host. Adaptable friendly helpful, considerate and Happy to get on with any random job I gave them. I would have loved to have them here for longer. We weren't working on any big projects while they were here but they got busy with loads of little jobs and made me a lovely meal on their last night. The dogs loved them too and we all miss them now they're gone.

This was an amazing experience. Felix is an incredible host who will welcome you with open arms. He says the place is not luxurious, but the animals, people, scenery and culture makes it luxury. If you are lucky enough to visit, you will enjoy hidden waterfalls, horses, dogs, sun rises and sunsets, amazing food, and even better people. The best part of the experience was learning from Felix. He is extremely intelligent and a great human.

Manon and Gittan stayed 2 weeks at our lodge in the Ovikenmountains. Our overall experience was very good. They travelled as a couple and were on workaway to get in touch with life in Sweden. During their stay they could help us with working on the restoration of our hiking trail in our private forest. We had some hard working days together and are very satisfied about the outcome. Our communication was very open right from the beginning. We enjoyed a dinner together every working day and had nice inspiring communication at the fireplace. Both are reliable persons with a clear view and power to achieve some goals in their life. We wish you both good luck for the upcoming projects in Sweden!

Ytsen is a very skilled and organized individual, self-motivated and detail oriented in everything from cleaning-up to social interactions. He was a joy to work with and could be trusted with any task. Housework: Ytsen always cleaned-up after himself, keeping the kitchen areas, common areas, sleeping area, and outdoor areas tidy and clean. During his time with us, he regularly pushed himself to learn new skills and new ways of doing things: his cooking skills in particular have a bright and shining future. Gardening: Ytsen kept the garden watered and flourishing, keeping back weeds and overgrowth while tending carefully to the vegetables and fruit trees. Organization: Ytsen's greatest skill is his ability to see clear and ordered structures through disorder and chaos. He has a penchant for making lists, sorting and testing tools, determining efficient solutions, and methodically adding order. This added a measure of stability and clarity for those sharing the space with him. It also inspires those around him to improve their own processes and ways of doing things, making him a natural leader. General skills: Ytsen has many highly developed skills and, with his engineering background, he was methodical and measured whenever he approached new or complicated tasks. He was very good at spotting possible obstacles and was able to make most critical decisions on his own, yet he was always able to understand when it was necessary to defer decisions to someone else. Every task that he accepted that was precisely, methodically, and carefully brought to completion. Social: Ytsen was very courteous, respectful and measured in all of his social interactions. Whether he was sitting at a dinner table with an Albanian family or drinking coffee with a Scottish lumberjack, he was a good listener and polite conversationalist with a steady mind and careful diction. There was an unfortunate issue where the Host profile edits were not accepted for a month, which made Ytsen feel throughly deceived by the difference between the profile description and his personal experience on location. Although we explained this situation, it still discolored his experience, which is very regrettable because he always went above and beyond as a guest, being motivated and friendly.

Mara is an absolutely awesome human being. She stayed here for a month and in that time she helped me out in so many ways - I would have loved for her to stay longer. Independent, sensible, flexible, hardworking, she sees something needs doing and just gets on and does it, no complaint, be it housework, cooking, cleaning, gardening, animal care etc. She is also a really calming person to be around and we spent many an hour chatting and putting the world to rights - she may be young but is emotionally really mature and great fun to be around. If she contacts you, don't hesitate to host her! The animals and I miss her greatly and I wish her all the best. Thanks for everything, Mara, and hope you come back and visit one day - you will always be welcome. Mi casa es tu casa, amiga🤗

Sarah and Steve were so warm and welcoming. I enjoyed staying with them. It was my first Workaway experience, and I'm glad it was there. When it started snowing, we had to save the trees, shake off the branches, protect the wires, and clear the road. We did some crafting and read some fairy tales from books with Alice and Athena. We also did some calculating with Alice. We cooked a lot. I tried lots of different meals from various cuisines. We also did some little things with Ella. I helped with household chores. We've been taught to make vinegar from wild apples. Also, I lent a hand with pruning and staking the woods in the yard. I am grateful for the time we spent together!

Chris bedankt!

Yudika San, Rie San, and Harun were some of the kindest people I have met in my life. After my experience of staying with them for about 6-7 days in August, I truly learned to appreciate my own parents on another level. May Allah increase and guide every single one of you for showing so much patience with me, treating me as part of your family (which is not easy to do and I know this from my own experiences of hosting), teaching me the ways of farming and living sustainably and humbly, Rie (mainly) and Yudika teaching me Japanese with such great stories and enthusiasm and dealing my broken Japanese at the same time :), and being examples and role models that I will always remember and follow from for the rest of my life. The environment here is otherworldly. You can see the oceans, the fog, and the mountains in your field of vision all at once. This family works hard to maintain their multiple fields of rice, other crops, and even chickens! You can just tell that there is so much Barakah (blessing) in all of it. I will never look at a grain of rice the same way after sweating in the field like that. It really wasn’t hard work depending on what you’re used to, but you learn to appreciate the things we take for granted in the city. I thoroughly enjoyed our daily schedule. Yudika and I would wake up in the morning to pray Fajr on time in Jama’ah together, suit up and head to work on the farm while the sun was rising and the fog cleared, go have breakfast after a couple of hours of rewarding work, and do various other simple tasks. Regardless of what we would do together there was always barakah in it which brought me nothing but peace. On other days, we would go do something special like going to “Heaven on Earth” as Harun liked to call it 😂. It was a net cafe with billiards, darts, and unlimited drinks. Or we would go to a restaurant, swim on the beach, and much, much more that I will not say so I don’t burden Yudika-San and Rie-San lol. I had the best time with Harun as well, who reminded me so much of my younger brother in his curiosity, cuteness, honesty, respect, and genki-ness! If you are considering a stay with this lovely family, make sure to bring a gift or two because they deserve it :). May Allah increase you Yudika-San, Rie-San, and Harun. Jazakumullahu Khairan P.S. If you have any questions about the experience, feel free to message the family. I can also be a resource for you, so feel free to message me while I still have my membership.

Jo and Baru stayed with us for a week which went all too quickly. They are excellent workers and communicators with a genuine sense of curiosity and well grounded. They are good conversationalists and super tidy around the house which really helped. They did a number of jobs including track maintenance, stripping out invasive weeds and firewood. Highly recommended, we hope to see them again!

What a wonderful adventure. I will carry this experience in my heart for my entire life. Being hosted by Irina in her amazing house in the middle of the jungle on Ko Phayam was magical. Irina is a wonderful and special person with a strong character, an incredible life experience, and so many things to teach. I became very attached to her and all her amazing animals (Mia, Bebè, Mao, Asietta, Coco, Onyx, Pepe, Cocó 1 and 2—I miss you all!!! 🥲 Picasso, not so much 😂😂). Sometimes I even called Irina “Aunt Irina” because we connected so well! Together we painted the bungalow in the garden, fixed fences, cooked a lot, made salami and crêpes, I learned to ride a scooter, made necklaces, did gardening, took care of the animals, repainted the kitchen, and ran errands around the island, getting to experience the local life and culture. The island is beautiful and peaceful, the beaches at sunset are stunning, the food is amazing, and you’ll never get bored! I highly recommend this experience you’ll definitely learn a lot!

Rhona and Bob are an incredibly kind, generous, fun and just all round amazing pair of humans. We were both deeply touched by their genuine desire to help and they truly went above and beyond - even during a late night wildlife rescue involving heavy lifting, lots of mud and terrible visibility through the rain. They are super quick learners, incredibly considerete of our needs, always took initiative and communicated seamlessly. Despite a relatively short stay, they were already capable and trustworthy to the point that we felt comfortable leaving them in charge overnight. I cannot reccomend these wonderful humans highly enough and feel lucky to now call them our friends.

We had such a lovely time staying with Akke. She cooked delicious meals and introduced us to new flavors and favorite ingredients we’ll definitely keep using. We also had many wonderful conversations about life and learned much from her. Staying in the beautiful, modern tiny house made the whole experience even more special. Overall, it was a truly wonderful stay, and we can definitely recommend visiting her.

Shashu was a very hardworking and dedicated person. A very fast learner. She was open to learn things she has never done and did a good job. She was excellent with our brother, who has cerebral palsy. She is a wonderful person to have around. We love her and we hope she comes back to visit.
