Thank you so much Pauline for being such an amazing volunteer!!!! Your observation about “having an eye for a more intimate social context “ really shows how much you understand about my life and work, which I truly very appreciate!!!! Yeah, love letter, i feel the same way 😅🫶🏽🐴 you deserve the prize for being my Workawayer of the year ! Such an empathetic human being, and so super attentive and talented…. Thank you for having been here!

Iv'e stayed 3 weeks at sylvie and cédric house. it was a very beautiful and meaningful experience for me. I learnt a lot about their philosophy and way of life, permaculture, and also had a realy good time in mons, experiencing the culture of the town and learning about belgium. they are warm welcoming family, and I'd be happy to come and visit again if I'll be around... Salute, Eliav

Valentina is very autonomous, and very quickly understands the instructions. She painted one of the rooms and also a little garden. If you have the chance to welcome her, you will discover a person who loves human contact and exchanges. This stay in our house allowed us to meet a beautiful person, enthusiastic, and joyful. She is like a gull, flies over the world, poses to observe humans kindly before flying again.

Julia came in after we had a last-minute cancellation due to illness, and she made quick work of both getting to know the property, and the other volunteers. Her sunny spirit and positive disposition really shine through and make every interaction so warm and pleasant! I was also very impressed with her knowledge of plant life, gardening, and permaculture principles, as well as her love and care for animals. I wish we could have hosted Julia for even longer, but alas--we already had other volunteers scheduled in for arrival--but nevertheless, Julia still managed to leave her mark in the brief two weeks she spent with us. Thanks so much for all your efforts, Julia! You've made the property that much more beautiful with your green thumb and your golden touch. ✨ Looking forward to hosting you again soon! xx

It was a real pleasure to host Leoni for a month and a half at the beginning of fall. She is a kind, respectful, and cheerful young woman, full of positive energy and curiosity. From the very first days, she proved to be organized and proactive, easily engaging in daily activities. She makes friends effortlessly and brings a warm, welcoming atmosphere to the group. Her previous experience with gardening and food preservation was truly valuable — she was confident working outdoors and taking part in DIY projects. Always eager to learn and contribute, Leoni combines enthusiasm with responsibility in a rare and inspiring way. We truly enjoyed having her around and would happily recommend her to any other host. Hope our paths cross again soon!

I've really enjoyed my time with Karin and Bruno. I wanted to experience Austria away from big cities, and with them I had the chance to stay in beautiful Carinthia, a region full of history, places to discover, and amazing nature. Karin and Bruno welcomed me into their home in a very kind way. They are wonderful people, and you can learn a lot from them. They are also curious about the country you come from and are always ready to help if you need directions or anything else. During my stay, I had my own bedroom with a private bathroom. Karin cooks delicious homemade bread and healthy, tasty meals, thank you so much for everything, Karin! Bruno is a very interesting person to meet, with a great sense of humor. It’s fascinating to listen to his thoughts on different topics and his perspective on Austria. The tasks were mainly in the garden, and Karin is very specific about what needs to be done. Some days I was collecting apples, other days making compost, or harvesting potatoes, so there was always something new to do! I also had the chance to learn some German words and phrases, including a few in the Carinthian dialect. The area is beautiful, and with the e-bike available, you can explore it very well. Julien, Karin’s son, was also around in the village. He’s a great guy, very easygoing, and you can have nice conversations with him too! I will always be very grateful to them for everything, and I hope to see them again. A big hug to all of you! Your Argentinian friend, Felipe

This hostel is breeze, ocean, cats, dogs, nice people, relaxed tasks...What else do you need?! I had and amazing time in this small village, could meet and talk to lovely people from this so special expats community, went for long walks and swam! My tasks were to feed the cats, clean and do the washing up, paint and I could even help a little at the local school English club.I had a great time and thank you all, dear friends. I will miss you💖🥲

Unfortunately, my stay with this host was not as described on her profile, resulting in my decision to leave early. From the beginning, the atmosphere was uncomfortable, the host was often unapproachable, dismissive, and seemed unwilling to engage in conversation, while spending a lot of time in her room. This created a tense environment, [redacted] and made things more awkward. Despite being aware that we were uncomfortable with aspects of the living situation, no efforts were made to improve things. The room provided was cluttered with the hosts belongings and had very little storage space for my belongings, not to mention there was a noticeable amount of cat hair throughout the space. Additionally, the dogs were very disruptive during the night. There was also a lack of clear structure around the work expected, several of Christine's instructions were contradictory to those of Lawrence's. Most days were spent washing up the baking equipment, despite having no role in baking the items. With little instructions given, tasks were rarely completed to Christine’s expectations resulting in further criticism. A lot of the time it felt like I was being spoken to/treated as if I were a child. Instructions on how to use appliances like the washer/dryer were not given and when they were used, complaints were recieved due to misuse. As for the horses, they were not in a suitable condition to ride, with one displaying aggressive behaviour. Lawrence was very inclusive, showing us around the land and giving historical details. He often had jobs for the Workaways such as gardening. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my shortened stay.

Fabian was a very sweet and friendly volunteer! What he loved most was repairing the machines with Al. He really enjoyed working with the weed wacker and the wood splitter! He was our last volunteer this year and our only one, so he was able to organize his time most of the time, which he was happy to do. Our daily campfires were always wonderful, and good conversations over a beer or wine are part of our everyday life. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the two and a half weeks as much as we did because our beloved 14-year-old dog Moonlight died just as Fabian arrived. Fabian was immediately ready to dig a grave so that we could bury Moonlight in the garden. It was a difficult time for us, but Fabian understood it well. Despite everything, we had a wonderful time with Fabian and he supported us a lot, for which we are very grateful. Thank you so much, Fabian.

It was a real pleasure having Eva with us! She is a kind, respectful, and positive person who adapted very quickly to our family rhythm. She played and interacted wonderfully with our children — they really loved spending time with her. Eva was also very responsible and helpful around the house, always with a smile and a great attitude. We truly appreciated her presence and we hope to see her again one day. Thank you, Eva, for everything you shared with us. You’ll always have a family here in Morocco 🌞

Only good words for Kerry ! Joyful, interesting to talk with, organized and diligent as a workawayer. We are absolutely satisfied with whatever she was assigned to do and on top of that she helped us organize certain things as hosts with her working experience and the point of view of the workawayer. She was communicative and always willing to help. We would be happy to have her again with us whenever she likes to. Wish her the best !!

Pelin was a wonderful volunteer here. Our farm is pure chaos at times, and Pelin thrived! From the first day we had unexpected storms, car getting stuck, dog fights, power outages, no water, pigs escaping, etc etc.. She loved it. She also loved our animals and cared for them as if they were her own. She is flexible, communicative, kind, and a hard worker. You will be lucky to have her stay with you! Thank you Pelin!!

I had a wonderful time staying with them. The house and the surrounding nature are absolutely beautiful, and I was so happy to experience life in the Belgian countryside. They were flexible with the schedule and always made sure I was comfortable with the work and the days off. The children are adorable and sweet — it was a real joy to spend time with them. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing your home and lifestyle with me. I hope to see you again someday!

I am so incredibly lucky to have done my Workaway with Béatrice and Gérard. They are kind, funny, incredibly giving and generous, and I really, really hope to visit them again in the future. They also love the area where they live and enjoy sharing all of its amazing sites, history, food, stories, jokes and culture with those who come to stay. Their friends are an absolute delight as well, especially Elisa (who comes almost every day to ride) and Mathilde. This was my first time in France. I could not have stayed with or worked with more beautiful, wonderful, caring people. They also really helped me with my French (which is a lot better than when I started, though I'm still a beginner). I stayed 3.5 weeks, and I house-sat for one of those weeks. I rode several of the horses, which are excellent, and Béa and Gérard generously also included me on a wonderful two-day carriage trek that they were making through some of the most gorgeous countryside in the south of France. Everyone here works together to make this beautiful home the lovely haven that it is. Along with the work there is so much kindness, a ton of laughter every single day, wonderful horses, a fabulous, cute dog (Oups, je t'adore!), incredible beauty, amazing and fascinating people, and rich history and culture everywhere. If you have horse skills and you want to use them, and you want to visit/work with an amazing family in a beautiful setting, you could not choose better than staying with Béa and Gérard. Béa and Gérard took me completely into their lives, and I am humbled and grateful. When I started this adventure I never expected to meet with such kindness and generosity nor to experience so many amazing new things. To Béa and Gérard and all the lovely people I met in France: You are absolutely wonderful. I miss you. I hope to see you all again as soon as I have a chance to return.

Great place to work. There were so many sweet and good-looking dogs! I will miss them. There was a well organized Aula with shower and there were other volunteers that were super sweet, helpful and caring. We played games and even watched DVD's in our free time. And walking, cuddling and playing with the dogs was one of the best experiences of my life.

Cal volunteered with us for a week and was a great help with farm maintenance tasks like weeding and planting. He’s an avid cyclist who has traveled to many countries — in fact, our place was his 26th stop! We’re really glad we got to host him. Cal is hardworking, proactive, and full of positive energy. On top of contributing to the farm work, he even repaired an old mountain bike that had been rusting in the shed during his free time — thanks to him, volunteers now have a bike to explore the area! Cal was amazing to work with and a joy to have around. His teamwork with other volunteers was excellent, and he made every moment fun — whether it was playing card games or going on kayaking trips together. We’d love to host him again anytime!

Mathilde was an incredible host! From the moment we arrived, she and her son Noah made us feel completely welcome and at home. The room we stayed in was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The gardening work was engaging and enjoyable, and Mathilde gave us plenty of freedom to choose the tasks that interested us most. It itself is a beautiful place — her home is perfectly located just a short walk from both the beach and the town. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we’d highly recommend to any Workawayer!
