Shai came allone and brought joy, positivity, initiative and helped with dedication and beautiful results conc. DIY cores ( kitting some shingles, sanding and painting a door and window ) We had meaningful talks during our meals outside and near the fireplace. On friday she baked a beautiful and tastefull Challah and I learned how to make it myself, which I surely will do😀👍 She really enjoyed learning how to spin with a spinningtoll and on a spinningwheel and obviously has a talent for it🎶 Shai is a wonderfull talented and intelligent respectfull woman, that I recommend as a WW'er to other hosts. She very well knows to find her own way in the area and transformed a bike that was to big for her into one she could use for exploring by cutting blocs to attach on the pedals😀 Feel welcome ever again Shai when you return to A'dam / the NL's!!

Jana and Lukas stayed with me for four weeks this autumn, and I’m so grateful for the time we shared. They are a cheerful, polite, and incredibly helpful and nice couple — always positive, hardworking, and creative. Lukas is a real handyman, skilled in a wide range of practical tasks like carpentry, masonry, repairs, and gardening. He works efficiently and safely, and he handles tools and machines — including chainsaws — with confidence and care. Jana is wonderfully organized and has a real talent for creating order. She tidied and arranged everything from drawers and cupboards to sheds and the garden. She also pruned trees, harvested, stored produce, and cooked delicious meals. I truly appreciated their company and all their help, and I wish them all the best on their journey in the awesome camper van they built themselves!!

We were helping most of the time in the School in Chiti. There were many tasks to do like painting, helping in the kitchen, gardering, cleaning, giving yoga lessons to the children... We really enjoyed spending time with the children, we had the chance to prepare some lessons for the children with special needs, it was very meaningful for us. The days were very well structured and everyone was assigned with a task the evening before (there was a meeting every evening together with a stand up comedy show by Côme). We got to meet a lot of nice people, at the time we were there, there were around 15 more volunteers, we spent most of the time together. The rooms were shared with around 4 more people but we spent most of the time in the common areas eating Dal bhat, playing games and again, eating Dal bhat. :D It was a really inmmersive experience where you can get contact with the local people and learn their business strategies. The school is located in the mountains with spectacular views of the Himalayas. Besides working and eating Dal bhat, we did yoga together, meditated, observed Côme, had some improvised group therapy sessions.. We had such a nice time that we couldn´t say goodbye so we decided to come to Pokhara together to postpone the goodbyes. Thank you Shamser, Didi and all the amazing people we met. Hope to see you all soon.

Jack is exceptionally helpful with Website improvements , and physical building work when required. He also utilised his worldwide contacts to contribute books for our School kids , from his Rotarian sister in Australia ... which was very thoughtful. He joined the volunteers helping our elderly villagers with their rice planting . Jack would be a strong asset to any of the projects he visits . We shall miss him , and wish that he finds great happiness in his volunteering travel . warmest regards Dr. Alex Evan-Wong. Director (Scotland)

From the very first moment we chatted about me joining the Operation, it just felt right — I knew it was something special, and I was so excited to be invited to be part of the team. Looking back on that month, I can honestly say it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve ever had. You welcomed me with such warmth, generosity, and trust, and I’ll always be deeply grateful for the way you helped me, taught me, and made me feel at home. The work, the laughter, the shared meals, and all the little moments in between — they’ll stay with me for a long time. The month I was there passed by so quickly, I was sad to leave, but luckily I am only a few boats away and still get to visit. It isn’t just a boat; it’s a reflection of your spirit, dedication, and kindness. I wish you both — and the sailboat — endless success and safe travels. I truly hope we’ll never lose touch. You’ve become such an important part of my new journey, and I’m so thankful to have you in my life.

Hi, if you are reading this and are interested in the castle, I'm sure you will be quite happy with what you find. I had quite an extended stay as I signed on from here to be a cook in the kitchen, and so I saw many workawayers come and go. it's a great place for kids if you are traveling with, as they will blend right in to castle activities and make friends. if you have a car, you will be under an hour away from dozens of hiking opportunities, some even just behind the castle. buses also come regularly, and there is a spar superkmarkey in town. that is t neccesary though as food is provided, and I hope to say humbly that the food is pretty good.

Thank you so much, Kate! It was a real pleasure having you here — your positive attitude and willingness to learn made a big difference. I really appreciate the time and care you put into everything you did during your stay. You brought great energy to the workshop and to the community. Wishing you all the best on your next adventures — and you’ll always have a home here by the sea if you ever come back to Malaysia

Hosting Sebastiano was an absolute pleasure. From the start, he fit right in — kind, curious, and always ready to help. He brought great energy to the workshop and quickly became part of our small team and community. Sebastiano worked on a mix of projects — from sorting and repurposing fishing nets to helping design an ultrasonic cleaner and learning to weld. He was hands-on, thoughtful, and never afraid to try something new. His creativity and problem-solving spirit added real value to what we do here. Outside the workshop, Sebastiano embraced local life fully. He joined family meals, chatted with locals, and explored everything with a great sense of humour and openness. It felt more like having a friend stay with us than a volunteer. We’re really grateful for his time here and hope he’ll come back one day. The door’s always open for you, Sebastiano.

I stayed with Tove for about 3 weeks and it was a wonderful time. There was always something to do and Tove was welcoming and made me feel at home from the start. I could speak to her about everything which made me feel safe and heard. She trusted me with every task I was willing to try, which made me grow in a very fulfilling way over time. I even connected a solar panel to a battery even though I have never done that before. Thank you for your trust Tove! The food was always high quality and she also told me to have a look on the time so I don't work to much. We grew together as a team over time and it was fun working together. In my free time she was willing to show me something, if it was the city, the swimming lake or the walk at the coast. I really got to know life on a farm and also the horses and her lovely cats who were always up for a snuggle. Tove has such a good heart, cares for people and animals and told me so many stories of her rich life that were great to listen to. We had good talks and when I needed anything she was helping me with it. I encourage you to help her because you will learn many new things and support a great person. Thank you for everything Tove and all the best!

A rare chance to immerse yourself in the oldest rainforest in the world. Full with conversation, good food, and endless wildlife (if you know how to look). I came to stay with David as my first ever Workaway, and just a few days after I landed in Australia. David was beyond welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local Daintree environment, culture, and greater Australia in general. Enlightening and fulfilling conversation was never in short supply at David's, and his ability to talk about any and every subject to it’s end was admirable. With generousity in excess, it would be impossible to fault the food, accomodation or company. During my (almost) three week stay, I helped out with a bunch of home, carpentry-style projects, and some ground-work building a pathway through the bush. There is a good range of things to do, just don't be shy in getting started. This rare and fulfilling experience is exactly what you make of it. I would recommend it to anyone who can approach situations with an open and elastic mind, as living in the rainforest does come with it’s unique challenges and daily life, but with endless rewards to those who seek them. I'm very grateful to David for the experience, and look forward to keeping in touch, which I think says a lot within itself.

I spent two amazing weeks with Brenda and Roger in Manakau for my first Wwoofing experience. They are very friendly, generous and wonderful people. Thanks to them, I got to discover real kiwi life. I loved our evening Banagrams games! During those two weeks, I did gardening and weeding in their beautiful orchard. Thank you again for your kindness. All the best to both of you. I hope to see you again :)

It was such a privilege to spend a week in Oloví delivering English lessons. From the minute I stepped off the train, I felt welcomed by Kate, who greeted me with a friendly smile and walked me to the accommodation. The teachers, students, and community members were all so kind and curious to meet me, and in just a short time, I felt adopted by the town! The accommodation was cozy, comfortable, and just a short walk from the school. It was fully furnished, and Kate made sure I had everything I needed, from snacks and breakfast to great tips for local shops, hiking trails and day trips.Oloví is a peaceful little town surrounded by natural beauty. I enjoyed hiking in the beautiful hills, taking a day trip to Karlovy Vary, and even joined Kate for a couple of evening fitness classes 😊 It was a true pleasure to spend my mornings working at the school. Kate knows her students well and had plenty of ideas for how I could best reach them in my lessons. She provided thoughtful feedback and mentorship, and it was exciting to try new ideas in the classroom with motivated students! I was also given freedom to bring my own lessons and teaching styles, so you can be creative while still benefiting from Kate’s experience and clear lesson structure. Classes ranged from young children to teenagers, and it was rewarding to see how curious and enthusiastic the students were to interact with a native speaker. The school staff were friendly, and everyone spoke enough English to make communication easy. I would highly recommend this Workaway experience to anyone eager to jump into teaching in a new environment. It’s a great fit for those looking to gain hands-on English classroom experience in a supportive school surrounded by kind people and beautiful scenery. Thank you, Kate. This experience was priceless, and I truly hope to return one day. This project is making a real difference for the students and the community, and I’m leaving a piece of my heart in Oloví. ❤️

Ashlee fit in seamlessly. As a person, she is curious, open-minded, friendly, and no-fuss. She was happy to take on anything needed—hands-on work in the field (e.g., cutting tall grasses, everyday farm tasks) as well as permaculture research and documentation on the computer. She treated tools, spaces, and shared resources with care, and she mixed easily with both staff and other volunteers. Her energy is calm and composed, which helped the team stay steady on busy days. We’d gladly welcome her back and recommend her to future hosts for roles that need a balance of physical work and thoughtful research.

I spend around two months in Kedeli and it was an amazing experience that I will never forget. The project is located in a quiet and pretty rural area with great nature and a truly special and beautiful community. I was doing mainly garden work which was very interesting and fun. I got to harvest many different fruits and vegetables and learned a lot. But more than anything else it is the community that makes this place special. Everyone is friendly and there is a real sense community in which I was welcomed warmly. A truly special experience if you are open and willing to really engage with this place fully.
