Chelli was such an incredible Workawayer. An exceptionally hard worker, detailed and good at just about everything. She helped in the garden, cleaned the house, made delicious food and even detailed the Bronco. She got along great with my boys and was easy to talk to. We didn’t want her to leave. Anyone that has the opportunity to host Michelle is extremely lucky. Have a great time in Whistler!!

I stayed for one week at Naceur and Fati’s home. It was my first Workaway experience in Morocco and it couldn’t have been any better! Since I arrived to their home I felt like home there and as a member of their family. They always made sure that I had everything I needed. Fati cooked delicious meals and sometimes we went out to eat. They took me with them everywhere they went: beaches, amusement park, swimming pool.. I was there as a babysitter and speaking English with the kids. They were really nice kids (sometimes misbehaving as any normal kid though 🤪) and all of them understood and spoke some English. So, comminicating was pretty easy. My working hours were flexible and I had a good amount of free time too. Their house was big and comfortable. I had my own room, which I shared with another volunteer in the end of my stay. My favourite place was the roof terrace, where I used to go and do some yoga every morning 🧘🏻‍♀️. It was a great experience to be part of this fun & lovely family with full of positive energy! Thank you so much for your kindness, Naceur and Fati! 🙏😌

I loved it here! Rosie and Christiane are very kind people who make you feel welkom from the first moment. I stayed with them for almost 3 weeks and enjoyed working in their lovely garden. Especially when their hens would help me ;) Rosie is a bright and kind person who tries a lot of things and loves to share this. I learned a lot of new things because of her. I enjoyed our breaks with a cup of tea and her sense of humor. Christiane is a person who loves to share his passions as well. He let me try lots of good food and gave me a sheet music that I could learn on the piano. They have some lovely dogs aswel, they are very sweet and fun to have around. I'm really thankful for Rosie's and Christiane's amazing company and the experience they gave me that I needed. If you are looking for some rest but also good company and work that makes you feel good. Then don't look further, they are your perfect match!

I volunteered at the Hostel and it felt like joining a little desert family. Roi and the team are kind, grounded people who care about both the guests and the volunteers. Training was clear, communication easy, and the shifts were fair and well organized. My tasks were mainly reception/check-ins, answering guest questions, coordinating bookings, and keeping common areas tidy. It’s the kind of work where you learn fast and actually enjoy helping travelers. The hostel has a great vibe: a cozy kitchen for cooking together, a chilled rooftop to unwind (perfect for sunsets and stretching), and quiet nights to sleep well. What I loved most was the cultural exchange. Roi shared thoughtful tips about Nazca and the surrounding sites, and I got a real sense of local life beyond the standard tours. Conversations often turned to music, culture, and travel stories—exactly the community atmosphere I look for.

HOSCARS 1st hostel is located in a historic area of Tirana, in a traditional old building which has been renovated in a way as to maintain its historic and cultural significance. Here we are passionate about bringing the local customs and traditions to our guests through traditional events, food, dance and drinks. Every day the hostel’s Nana will cook a traditional Albanian breakfast in the morning, and classic traditional dishes from all over the varied historical areas of Albania for dinner in the evening. Nothing in Albania is more traditional than eating the foods of our ancestors together as a family. Twice a week we open our kitchen and our hearts for travellers to learn these traditions with Albanian cookery classes, allowing people to not just taste Albanian history but to learn to replicate it themselves. At the weekends we host events that include teaching Albanian dancing and the basics of our language, we also take great joy in introducing the guests to the many styles of music, dance and dress of the country. Our goal at the Hostel is to bring the history and traditions of Albania to our guests and keep a close connection between the local community and the rest of the world. 2nd hostell is a new hostel located in a predominantly local area of Tirana. Due to this, we always try to work directly with local businesses and with local residents. In the less than 2 years since we opened, we have established a working relationship with local bars, restaurants, tour companies but also directly with our neighbours. We have hired cooks, seamstresses, tour guides, bartenders and anyone we feel can bring together our local residents with our international guests. When we reopened 18 months ago, we took an empty property that was only occupying space in an already overpopulated city. Now we provide not only employment to local residents and new income streams for local businesses, but also a direct bridge between those of us who call Tirana home permanently and those who only call it home for a short while. Every day, we encourage guests to explore local bars and restaurants to enjoy traditional Albanian food, music, and dance. We’ve also partnered with locals who produce traditional food and beverages, helping them reach the growing number of visitors to Tirana. Recognizing Albania’s limited recycling infrastructure, we’ve developed a small-scale initiative to repurpose recyclable materials while supporting low-income residents. Each day, some locals, struggling for money, will collect plastic bottles and metal cans from dirty communal bins, and bring it miles outside of Tirana for a small monetary incentive. So, we established a working relationship with some of these people to provide them with clean plastics and aluminium cans for them to take without having to search trough trash bins to find them. Overall, we are aware that as a tourist hostel, in a local neighbourhood; we can either help the community or ignore it. We want to work together and will always look for ways to do so. Marlena was an absolute joy to host. She arrived in the first few months of us hosting volunteers for the first time, and helped to transform the place into what it has since become. She has an incredible energy, that transfers to both the staff and the guests. She has given help, advice, and spiritual guidance to so many of us... as well as starting the first ever yoga classes at our hostel! Somehow through all of these extra activities that she did OUTSIDE OF HER WORKING HOURS, she was also a tremendous worker and communicator, helping others (both staff and guests) feel comfortable in this shared space. She also is a terrific cook, making veggie/vegan food but also helping us all to learn about cooking for people with allergies whilst still maintaining delicious and wholesome food appropriate for everyone. Marlena has already come back to visit us multiple times but i already cant wait until the next time!

I am staying 2 months at the ranch from 1 october - 1 december and I am having an amazing time! It is truly so beautiful and tranquil here and the people here are lovely. Before I arrived I was told that I should expect to work a lot and they did not lie. Some days when we have guests we work from 7 AM to 4 PM cooking four-course meals from scratch and then cleaning up. Though other days it is calmer. My work mostly consists of helping the cook by assisting in the kitchen or coming with to the market in Urubamba to shop. But, I also help around the house, feed and brush the 11 horses and sometimes join on rides through the mountains. Most days of the week I spend on the farm, and then, during my one day off, I go visit nearby sites or do day tours. Because the farm is very well located in the Sacred Valley there are many beautiful places to visit, like Macchu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, the Seven Lagoons or just cute nearby towns like Ollantaytambo. I highly recommend this experience if you want to work a lot to learn about authentic rural peruvian life and spend most of your time on the farm with all the lovely people here. And then of course reap the benefits of living on this beautiful and familial farm in the heart of the Sacred Valley.

Staying here was an unforgettable experience! The village is peaceful, surrounded by fields, and kind-hearted people. Life here moves at a slower, more meaningful pace. Niranjan was incredibly welcoming and made sure I was comfortable and well-fed (the homemade food was delicious — simple and healthy). If you’re looking for an authentic experience, far from the tourist trail, this is the place to come. Be ready for basic amenities, lots of nature, and genuine human connection 💚

When Marion first contacted me, her profile immediately caught my attention. We had an online call right away, and I could already feel that it would be a wonderful experience. It was such a joy to host Marion and her lovely daughter Maëlya from the beginning of September to mid-October 2025. They were not only our first volunteers from Africa, but also our first mother-daughter duo — and from the moment they arrived, they brought warm energy, kindness, and a beautiful spirit into our home. Since we were their very first hosts, we also felt very lucky and honored to be part of the beginning of their Workaway journey. They surprised us with wonderful traditional gifts and food from Togo — and even coins for my collection! As our first volunteers from Africa, everything they shared about their culture and life was fascinating and eye-opening for us. They even visited my school and Zehra’s school, where they gave an amazing presentation about Togo and showed traditional clothes they had brought with them. The students were truly captivated and inspired by their stories and the beautiful outfits. Marion is an exceptional psychologist and a truly caring person. She quickly became part of our family, treating our home as if it were her own. She helped in so many ways — with housework, hosting guests, preparing food for the freezer, and countless other things I can’t even list. I can never thank her enough for all her support. She did everything with such sincerity and dedication, just like a sister would. She has such a rich life story, and every conversation with her was inspiring. During stressful times, she always knew how to calm me down — proof once again that she is truly talented in her profession. Maëlya is a kind, polite, and easygoing teenager who got along wonderfully with my daughters and their friends. Together they laughed, played, and shared beautiful moments. She is also very talented at drawing and left us a lovely sketch as a memory — something we will always treasure. Marion even made a birthday cake for Aykut and picked a perfect gift for him! Throughout their 45-day stay, they were incredibly respectful of our home, helped with everything, and brought so much positivity to our daily life. Marion cooked delicious meals (we’ll never forget her cake!) and braided the girls’ hair beautifully. We are so grateful for the love, patience, and joy they brought to our family. They arrived as volunteers, but they left as dear family friends. We’ll be following their world tour with admiration and can only say that the hosts who welcome this amazing mother and daughter are very lucky — they are hard-working, thoughtful, and full of light. Thank you again, Marion and Maëlya, for everything you shared with us. May your journey be filled with kind people and unforgettable experiences. As you say in Togo, “See you tomorrow.” 💛 With love, The Atalay Family

Luca and Romi were excellent workers and very nice couple. We shared meals and conversations every day with lots of joy. They were easy to introduce new jobs to and they did it very well. I miss them around at the finca! Wishing you all luck, and always welcome back in case you want a Workaway Holliday in Andalucia. Love from Ane Marie

Jasmin and Thomas were amazing hosts, and we’re so glad we got to spend a week at their home in Germany. The workload was around 3 hours a day and mostly involved gardening, organizing the basement, or vacuuming the car. We also joined them on a trip to the Allgäu to help with a renovation project. It was super fun! Whenever we worked more than 3 hours, they made sure we had a day off to explore the beautiful surroundings, like Ulm and Lake Constance. Jasmin is a wonderful cook, and we really enjoyed the dinners and great conversations we shared together. It was a fantastic experience, and we truly hope to come back someday. We wholeheartedly recommend staying with Jasmin and Thomas to anyone. Thank you again for the amazing week!

This was my first Workaway experience and my stay at the farm was absolutely amazing! Even with little experience working at a farm, it was very easy to adapt and learn how to help in the best way I can. Francis and Marie are very polite, patient and thoughtful, and have a great sense of humour, their daughter Nynka is adorable, and I was happy to be part of their wonderful family. The homemade food with fresh local ingredients was delicious, the conversations we had were always so interesting and I improved my french a lot! The day to day tasks vary and the work was very fulfilling and fun, from building an outdoor firewood storage rack to processing peppers, kimchi, and setting up the chili stand at local festivals or markets. The schedule is flexible which allows you to have some more free time on some days and compensate on others, and it was never boring. If you come here with an open, accepting mind and give your best, your experience will be unforgettable!

The hostel is beautiful and so comfy!! If you want a place to explore bogota, this is it. Work is reception and some easy sheet changing. As you work 3 days a week each 8 hours you not only have tons of time to explore Bogota, you also can explore towns and sights in the area as la Catedral de Sal, villa de leyva, warerfalls, mongui and maybe even tatacoa desert or san gil. The breakfast was really nice and as it’s a super modern kitchen and a lot off shops are close by, so cooking is a lot of fun. The hostel even has a beamer to watch movies. As the hostel is new activities are still growing but Martina is always open for Ideas!

Anna is super hospitable. She drove me to many places. What is interesting is that I found she is crazy about everything regarding to Chinese. As a result, I tried to cook some Chinese and Taiwanese food to her and her son. Luckily they enjoy it!

Angela and Alvaro (and their lovely dog Yeska) were wonderful guests and house sitters. I’ll admit I was a bit nervous at first about how my older dog would do with a younger, energetic one, but Yeska was so well-mannered, and Angela and Alvaro were incredibly attentive and respectful in managing introductions and monitoring things so that everyone could have a comfortable stay. They took excellent care of my home, and it’s true — Alvaro is a very good cook! There were times I needed quiet while working, and they were beyond accommodating. They also kept in touch with me while I was away, which I really appreciated and which gave me great peace of mind. Overall, they were a huge help, and I’d happily recommend them to anyone looking for responsible, kind, and thoughtful sitters or guests. I’d gladly host them again.

What a loving family! I truly enjoyed these ten days, they flew by so quickly. I helped out around the house with some cleaning tasks and spent lots of fun time with the kids. It was such a joy! The animals are wonderful, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. I had such a lovely and peaceful time here. The food here is delicious, the working hours are flexible and always discussed together, it’s truly a place I can highly recommend! Thank you, James, Nina, Lenny, Emy, Josie, Nala, and Nikki, for your warm energy and kindness. I’m deeply grateful that this experience could be part of my big journey.

Charlie came to help us at a critical moment after wildfires had damaged our land and infrastructure. With his help we were able to set up a new water system, which was vital at that time. Charlie helped install new tanks, pipe work and taps as well as creating irrigation ditches in a burnt orchard. His friendly face, company and conversation and his willingness to get stuck in and be of help whenever he was able were all a great support at that time. The whole family enjoyed having him stay.

My stay in the farm of Luz and Dana was amazing! They are so nice and accepted me like a part of their family. I had almost every meal together with them. Only if I wanted something special for myself I needed to pay it, the other dishes were included. In their house there are several rooms for guests so I always had my own private space for me if I wanted to have some time for me. The work is easy and there are many different tasks around the farm like taking of the bad weeds from the herb garden, plant new herbs, feed the animals or help Jorge the caretaker and gardener with maintenance tasks around the farm. The farm is a little bit far from the next cities Barcelona and Códoba which is great to have a calm time in the nature but also challenging to arrive. Make sure that you arrive early because if you miss the last bus from Armenia (at 9pm) you have to pay a Uber which costs almost 10 times the price of the bus (8000 COP). But don't worry during the day there is a regular bus every 40 mins which takes 45 mins to arrive in Armenia. In your free time you can explore the region around or relax at the farm and enjoy having lots of friendly animals around. There are 7 dogs, 2 cats, 2 cows, 2 pigs, 2 goats, a hen (which lets you pet her!), a parrot and a hamster. I love animals so I was super happy to spend time with all of them. In the evening sometimes we made a campfire if the weather was good. There is a big river and and a small stream (quebrada) nearby where you can take a bath and hike to the waterfall that is located upstream of the quebrada. All in all I had a beautiful time in the farm and I highly recommend staying with Luz and Dana. Muchas gracias por todo! El voluntariado fue un de mis favoritos!!! Algún dia quiero volver con certeza! 🤗

We have hosted several Workawayers, but Kaitlyn was our first Workawayer of her kind, and she has set a new, incredibly high standard. She is the kind of person you hope to find on this platform. Kaitlyn was an immense help in the garden, tackling weeding and other tasks with dedication. Our garden looks fantastic now, thanks to her hard work. But her help didn't stop there! With fantastic initiative, she and my son began the creative make-over of our camper van, starting the repainting with great energy and skill. Beyond that, she seamlessly became part of our daily life: she took our dog, Lili, for walks every day (and Lili adored her), and helped effortlessly with household chores. A true highlight was when she cooked us an incredible, from-scratch Mexican meal that absolutely blew us away! She is not just a helper, but a true cultural exchange partner. Our dinner table was filled with deep, meaningful conversations, and she integrated into our family with ease and openness. Her description of herself as a "curiosity driven individual" is perfectly accurate. She is polite, open-minded, and a joy to be around. We have no doubt that with her attitude, she will pick up any language she sets her mind to. We wholeheartedly recommend Kaitlyn to any host. She is reliable, thoughtful, and leaves a positive mark wherever she goes. We miss her already and wish her all the best on her adventures! She will always have a home with us.

Staying with Christine and Lawrence was my first Workaway-experience, and from the earlier reviews I was excited to spend almost three months there. But upon arrival, me and another workawayer were greeted with a tiny, messy room, filled with random things and hardly any space for us to store our things. The rest of the house was chaotic, which is not shown in any pictures, and cathair covers almost all surfaces. The atmosphere in the house was tense and there was a lot of yelling back and forth between the hosts, which was at times uncomfortable to witness. We voiced our feelings about the situation, but no efforts were made to improve anything, until we announced our early departure. Spending time outside in the gardens with Lawrence was nice, we helped him with cutting grass or getting some feed for the horses. He showed us around and tried to include us in whatever he did. The horses on the big field were almost all overweight and their hooves were either split or cracked, making them unwilling to move or be ridden. The old horse, Lefty, was severely underweight but wasn't provided a blanket for winter and is mostly left to fend for himself. Neither Christine nor Lawrence do much with the horses, so it seems like they're only kept around to attract workawayers. We didn't feel comfortable trying to ride the horses because of both their physical condition, as well as their obvious lack of manners, and mostly spent time grooming them, which was quite enjoyable. Many things weren't as advertised on their profile and I left after only two weeks, due to many factors. Please message me if you have any further questions.
