I had a very inspiring time at Valerio's permaculture farm, really recommand this excentric place! Valerio knows a lot about nature, cultures, permaculture, history and organic food. Thank you so much!

Alina, stayed with us for yweeks and she really jumped into family life. She even helped the kids with their homework after their return to school. This in itself was a huge help. She learned our routines quickly and is a methodical, and observant worker. She loved the chats and learning more about Irish culture. We wish Alina the best with her studies, which she conscientiously looked after during her stay here She is going to make a wonderful teacher

It was a somewhat complicated experience. Harriet has problems in well-lit places at night and wanted to keep the lights off, which isn’t possible. She is bothered by noise, and here we have dogs, people working nearby, and that is part of the environment. During her entire stay, she had a headache and felt tired; #redacted#, and for the last two days, I had to go out and she tried to spend the night in the house we rented when the volunteers have their own room.

I stayed here for 2 amazing weeks and met some of the most amazing and kind people ever. Very welcoming atmosphere, chill quiet place with a local vibe. I was mostly at the bar but the work was easy and everything went smoothly, most people who come are locals but also some travelers. Hanna, Mario and Silvi were amazing and always there for anything and everything.

We had a great experience with hosting Riccardo. He is a very friendly, relaxed and nice guy to have around. We had a lot of nice time together having conversations over meals. Riccardo helped us with finishing our sheep shed, start with making a wooden wall and splitting the firewood for the winter. He has a great work energy and we were amazed how fast he could do things! Also, he worked his magic on our circular saw that Martijn had broke and he managed to fix it; which we're very grateful for! We wish Riccardo all the best and would welcome him back any time!

Such a pleasure having Hana here! She was more than a great help in the house and garden. she was very motivated to give structure to the chaos and to do all tasks in good mood. We had a lot of laughter and good talks with each other and invented the genre of" Ethiopian music kitchen party". Also Hana s cooking was fabulous. Thank you Hana ! <3

Lois is a pleasure to be with! We loved having her stay at our home & would invite her back any day. She helped with a variety of tasks such as gardening, cooking and childcare. She is a quick learner and is open to doing an array of different tasks. She is independent, friendly and genuinely a lovely human. We wish you the very best on our travels...and beyond. Hope to see you in the future :) Melanie, Jared & Flora

I spent a week here at the monastery and it was fantastic. I stayed with Jean-Jacques (a regular Workawayer there) in the studio, and he was so kind and helpful (thank you!). The rest of the team was so friendly and welcoming, and the work is engaging and fulfilling. The location is breathtaking - from the mountains, to the rivers, to the forests, it's so easy to fill your free time with hikes and sightseeing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested!

I had a great experience staying with David. He’s a really kind and easygoing person who makes you feel comfortable from the start. The atmosphere was always relaxed, and it was easy to have good conversations and share ideas. The work was fair and flexible, and David was always clear about what needed to be done. I also appreciated that he gave great tips about local places and things to do around San Pedro Sula. Overall, it was an awesome experience – a good mix of work, cultural exchange, and chill vibes. Thanks again, David, for hosting me and making my time in Honduras so enjoyable!

We had such a wonderful time in Haumoana with Anita, she was extremely hospitable along with the surrounding town and people. The work was enjoyable and light, the accommodations were cozy and comfortable with beautiful scenery. We got to explore around the area of Haumoana and loved every bit of it. Anita is a wonderful lady who is lovely to converse with and we just had such a great experience overall. We were sad to leave the little slice of paradise we got there and would go back in a heartbeat!

Our stay with Laurian was incredible! she was very chill, providing us with a great and spacious apartment with a big room. The kitchen was nice and spacious too. The tasks were light, gardening and tidying up around the house. Laurian is incredibly easy going and let us work at our own pace and at our own rate, not really micromanaging us which was nice.

We spent a few days on Stefano and Francesca’s farm near the beautiful town of Anghiari. They are kind hosts, and it was interesting to experience the daily life of their lively farm with goats, a horse, pigs, rabbits, and many friendly dogs. Communication was mostly in Italian (but Google Translate solves everything 😉), which made the experience even more authentic. We highly recommend a stay here to anyone who speaks or wants to practice the language. We’re grateful for their hospitality and for the chance to discover such a charming part of Tuscany.

I had a wonderful 3-week stay with Kassia. She's very friendly and easy to talk to, and she provides clear, detailed instructions for any tasks that need to be done. She traveled for two weeks and was around for a week, but we had some nice chats while she 9and her daughter) were home. She also offered me meals and even taught me how to make Schnitzel! While she was away, I looked after her adorable guinea pigs. They're super easy to care for; just feed them, give them a bit of attention now and then, and that's it. I also helped her list a few items for resale online, which was straightforward. Her apartment is conveniently located not far from the Hauptbahnhof, the city center, and the library. That was a big plus for me, as I used the Mannheim University library to make great progress on an academic essay I was working on. I also got to explore some beautiful spots in Mannheim and nearby cities like Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Worms. Heidelberg is just a short 25-minute train ride away! Kassia is a great host, and I definitely recommend her.

I stayed 2 and 1/2 weeks in their camper. From the beginning on I felt very welcome and comfortable. During my stay they did everything to make me feel good and they were very caring. Lizzie showed me a lot of places in their area and introduced me to new people, I made a lot of new and nice experiences! The work I did, doesn´t really felt like real work because I always had fun there. Lizzie and Jason are amazing, kind and open people and I´ve really appreciated living with you. Not to forgot their cute little daughter. I had so much fun with her and she has a special place in my heart. This was my first experience with Workaway and I definitely don´t regret it at all. I´m very thankful to met you and hope I´ll see you again someday:)

Gillian and Thomas were a perfect match for us, and it is rather hard to express how happy we were with them choosing us. The most negative point was without a doubt that they stayed only a month. With people like this, we would by very happy to break our record of hosting one set of volunteers for seven months! Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn a wide range of things made tough jobs lighter, and boring jobs fun. Their love for the animals that they spent so much time with was another wonderul thing about them. The animals were not just a chore for them, but they truly saw and treated them like the feeling and sentient beings that they are. One of the biggest and most important jobs that we did together was shearing all our nine sheep with hand shears on a shearing table. They learned very quickly, and did a wonderful job. Never did any of the sheep simply become a chore that needed finishing. With many volunteers, even if they care more than average for the animals they take care of, that does tend to happen after a while of shearing. Gillian and Thomas were special in that they maintained warm conscious contact with the animal throughout, without losing efficiency. For me that matters a lot. For the sheep, too, I'm sure, since it translated into the sheep loving them as well! Shearing was but one part of the sheep work. They took part in the whole management, and by the time they left, they knew more about holistically planned grazing than I did when I started with it in 2020, and obviously had a lot more experience with the method as well. Amon gst the things they learned are: 1. physically moving a group of sheep from one paddock to the next; 2. Determining when it is time for that move, based on grass condition, as well as sheep gut fill and condition; 3. Determining when a piece of grazed or mown land has recovered enough to be grazed or mown again with the goal of regenerating the vegetation, the soil, etc.; 4. The beginnings of being able to actually plan the grazing, rather than merely grazing in a rotational way, with for example the huge benefit of being able to build up a winter (or dry season) stockpile of grass which can feed the animals for months, while most other graziers have to turn to hay. 5. etc. They actually broke our record for how quickly I trusted volunteers to move sheep without supervision! Scything was another daily job. Scything to produce hay was not necessary any more, and so their scything was limited to daily short sessions to feed the rabbits. This is still a very well-filled big wheelbarrow's worth, and so they got pretty good at it. The rabbits also received a lot of attention from Gillian and Thomas. There were many young rabbits while they were here, and they cared for them as well as possible, and the time they spent with them, petting and cuddling, helped make the rabbits quite tame. They also learned how to safely and effectively cut down a spruce of up to 30 cm diameter with an axe. Other jobs included: 1. Gardening work, from weeding to harvesting; 2. Helping to gather berries and mushrooms in the surrounding forests; 3. Hauling cut down tree sections from our steep forest up to the meadow where car and trailer could pick them up (heavy work!); 4. Finding young tree seedlings in the surroundings where they would not be able to survive, and transplanting them to our own forest to improve functional diversity; 5. And many more things as they came up! Apart from their love and care for the farm and its inhabitants and their reliability, they were simply very lovely people to have around. We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot, but also shared talks about more challenging subjects. We certainly spent quite a bit more time together than just the working hours and meals because of the very nice connection. And mentioning meals, especially Thomas (but Gillian also!) regularly treated us to exceptionally finely prepared dinners. What luxury it was for us not to always do the dinner preparations, but even more so because of the quality of the food! Gillian and Thomas, you came as volunteers, but left as friends. We very much hope to meet again. You will always be welcome!

We had amazing time with Ada and Rino. The wineyard is in a beautiful spot with a sea view and a quick access to most beautiful beaches in Gallura and Aglientu. We helped with vendemmia and other tasks on the land and cantine and we stayed one month. Ada and Rino have open hearts and lots of patience. We didn't speak any Italian when coming to them and we started do understand a lot before we left. Ada cooked delicious food for us and we also had a few Polish lunches and one event trip together. It was very rich and relaxing time, a real flavour of Sardinian way of life. Thank you!

My experience in the farm was really good, my objective in my trip wasn’t mainly workaway. I came to visit some friends and travel around Germany but I really enjoyed spending time with the family, they were very welcoming and helpful. I shared more time with Anika and Björn during work and lunchtime, during breakfast I spent time with Angelika and Johannes, which despite the language barrier they did their best to spend this time with me. All of the people that I met in this experience are wonderful people with a lot of things to learn from them. The work was relatively simple but because it was my first workaway experience sometimes I found it a bit tiring but I got used to it. Anika was flexible and helpful with my plans to travel around Germany and going out during the weekends so I appreciated that a lot . Overall a wonderful experience.
