I had the best time at Adam’s place and met many great people. He provided everything we needed, and I could use his e-bike to explore the beautiful area around the farm. The work was varied and fair, which made every day enjoyable and interesting. I stayed there for two weeks and definitely want to come back one day. We had some amazing nights going out in town, having bonfires on the farm, and even camping near the beach. Adam is such a kind and welcoming person — I can highly recommend everyone to visit his farm.

Weronika The and Tom stayed with us for just over two weeks. In that time they made some incredible improvement to our property. They were well organised, well planned and independent. Really enjoyed their company, they are an intelligent couple and able to have some interesting conversation. Good luck with your travels in the speed wagon …she looks great!

Kristy, Danny and Billy made us feel part of their family. As soon as we met them, they were attentive to our needs and wanted to adapt to our interests. They frequently asked how we found the tasks and if we were enjoying what we were doing. They are very thoughtful people, always looking out for others and for ways to make us appreciate our time here. Which we did, we were completely charmed by Russell and its close-knit community. Kristy and Danny played a big part in our appreciation of this little town by generously bringing us along in their activities. The tasks we had to do were various and we learned new skills while helping Danny in building their cabin and new vocabulary while playing with Billy! It did not feel like work! We experienced a lot of Kiwi classics here and Kristy rose the bar high for our next meat pies (and meals in general). We had great conversations and good laughs. Our stay with Kristy, Danny and Billy was what we would call in french a “coup de coeur” which would badly translate to a heart stroke but really means something we fell in love with, an immediate favorite. We would come back anytime :)

Alice is a wonderful person and a great, helpful volunteer. She stayed with us for a little less than two weeks and assisted in the kitchen — cooking for the team and helping with housekeeping. The meals she prepared were very tasty, and all tasks were completed responsibly and on time. Alice also painted a few lovely pictures of our pets and gifted them to us — we’ll definitely frame them and hang them in a visible place. We truly enjoyed hosting her and would gladly recommend her to any host.

Dennis was a huge help during his one week stay. He has good practical skills - more than the average Workawayer! His skills, knowledge and energy meant we achieved a lot as he was worked with my adult son to clean up areas of our old barn, taking loads of farm junk to the dump and then worked on dismantling and repairing part of the barn roof. I am so grateful to have another big area tidied up thanks to his help. He brings a positive attitude and is a very hard worker! Dennis is also good fun and a very pleasant guest to have in the house. He was appreciative of meals, offering to help out and left the accommodation area immaculate. I would thoroughly recommend hosting him. All the best for your continued journey Dennis...I look forward to following your travels!

I had such a great time with Liz, Dom, and their son for two weeks and a few days. It was my first time using Workaway, so I was a bit nervous to go to their house, but they and their cute pets welcomed me warmly. My English wasn’t very good, but they always tried to understand me and have nice conversations with me. The workload was reasonable, and every meal was great — I always asked for seconds! 😋 They let me take proper days off and always picked me up and dropped me off between the station and their house. Whenever I asked them something about Ballarat or Melbourne, they explained everything to me in detail. They also kindly taught me about gardening from scratch, even though I didn’t know anything about it. I was really happy and grateful for that. Everything was really helpful for me, and I had many wonderful experiences that I couldn’t have had living alone I really appreciate your family’s kindness 💛

extremely friendly staff and volunteers, they are very patient with the new volunteers and make you feel welcomed into the family, great work experience especially teaching the easy riders and staff English and checking in everyone. I loved volunteering here definitely will be back again.

This was my first Workaway experience, and it couldn’t have been better. The family, the house, and their lovely dog Freddie were all amazing. I was supposed to stay for about two and a half weeks, but I ended up extending my stay because I felt so comfortable and welcomed. I really enjoyed spending time with Freddie and helping around the house. Thank you so much for everything .I truly hope to see you again when I come back to Sydney!

We couldn’t have asked for better first Workaway hosts! We stayed with Dallas and John for about three weeks, but honestly, we could have imagined staying for many, many more. It’s hard to describe just how amazing these two are: inspiring, welcoming, caring, and so much fun. We stayed in their beautiful private guest house, “The Barn,” just a short two-minute walk from the main house. The Barn is the cosiest place, with a lovely bedroom, living room and an incredible view of the garden. Everything was spotless, tidy, and thoroughly equipped — the kitchen had everything you could possibly need if you wanted to cook. That said, we were lucky enough to have lunch and dinner with Dallas and John most days, and their meals were truly delicious! The work was varied and enjoyable. We helped with gardening, planting seeds, weeding, filling vegetable and flower beds with soil and mulch, and taking part in building and painting projects. We even made some cute signs and created the “insect kingdom” and butterfly garden — seeing it all come together was so rewarding. Surrounded by their geese and chickens, cat Zeppy (and of course, the wonderful company of Dallas and John), it was just amazing. Beyond the work, Dallas and John went above and beyond in making our stay unforgettable. They took us on little trips, introduced us to Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), sushi making and shared their incredible knowledge and stories from around the world. They’re both such well-travelled, educated, and interesting people — you can learn so much just by spending time with them. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough to anyone looking to work hard, have fun, and experience the beauty of Waihi in the best possible way.

I spend around 10 days with this nice team of three people and many pets. We took care of this beautiful big house surrounded by an amazing nature. I finaly get the chance to swim in black sea. I really recommand you this workaway because you will be host by truly nice people, that really care. Thank you Peter, Anna and Nikita !!

Kate & Rory were excellent Workawayers. By the time they arrived, we had signed a contract to sell our place, so the nature of the work to be done changed. They were very adaptable, and were happy to do whatever we asked of them. We can recommend them to anyone else as hard working, knowledgeable people.

It was a pleasure to stay at Nikki's farm. She over and beyond to make me feel comfortable there. Her son and I replaced a portion of the roof for her barn which she was very appreciative of what we had accomplished. Well worth the time there as a workawaya. would recommend highly.

Marco is a very big energetic Italian guy, very funny with lots of alternative ideas. He has a big heart; in fact, the local Filipinos have never been so nostalgic. He was the first to volunteer for extra work, whether it was picking coconuts or running errands in the nearby village. With his help, we completed the setup for growing mushrooms, dug a flat space into the sloping ground, and built some structures out of bamboo and regular wood. Marco showed us a life and lifestyle not followed by many. If you are into spirituality, fasting, fruitarianism or meditation, he is the person to be with. We are truly grateful to have met him. 🙏🏽✨

I stayed 1 week at luciana’s place, i it was a real immersive experience for true nature and off grid life lovers, being able to use mother earth to cook, wash, and many other thing is amazing, i’ll recommend it for all those who wants to discover their wild parts and be autonomous ! there are so much to say and i stayed only one week, first of all this place is magical, the quiet is notable and the landscape is breath taking like a true postal card ! then all animals lovers welcome because they are a lot, all with a different énergie but all lovely ! and Luciana, thanks again for this unique and beautiful experience ! you were the greatest teacher a ever had i my life, you’re passionate and full of love ! thanks for having me and sharing your knowledge.. Best first experience in Mexico ! Freedom, autonomy and sharing

Carolina is a lovely host, I really enjoyed the time I've spend at this place. The working hours were told at the beginning of the week, so I was able to plan my free time. The work at the reception is easy to learn and it's great to meet people from all over the world. Next to the reception work, I took pictures of the hostel with my camera for updating the pictures of the hostel. I can definitely recommend this place. Thank you for everything!

I recently spent 3 weeks in Manu and Rob's place just outside of Paris to help them prepare the house for sale. From the minute we connected on the Workaway site they were great communicators and very friendly people. My weeks spent with them and the other workawayer's were fantastic, we ate well, chatted often and built a really lovely connection. Each day we worked for 5 hours, breaking for coffee and morning tea, we ate lunch and dinner together and had some really nice conversations. Manu and Rob have a real interest in other peoples lives, are very reasonable people and also gave helpful advice and recommendations to make the most of my trip. If I ever come back to France, I'd be sure to see them again!

Thank you so much! I had such a good time at Emma's, Gatleys and Lloyd's lovely home! It was my first workaway experience and it really didn't feel like I left home at all, because they invited me to be part of the family from the first day on! I even participated at a family dinner, a meet up with their friends and they were so kind to take me on a trip in the school holidays! It was so amazing! I can definitely recommend them for 1000%, because you will have a good time, if you like a fair work and live balance, the cutest dogs of the world and obviously horses :) Emma even took me to show jumping events! I really appreciate everything you've done for me and can only say that it was a pleasure for me! I really feels like I have another family in New Zealand All the best and hopefully see you again!

Declan joined us for almost 2 weeks and we all loved having him stay. Bright and well travelled, we enjoyed some great conversations and he was so wonderful with our kids too! Declan helped us look after Maple when we went away on a holiday, and we are so grateful that we had such a reliable, caring and attentive person caring for our beloved dog. Declan also did an incredible job painting our guestroom - it looks like new! and the front facade to our home. He was at all times a considerate guest and helped us keep the house tidy and neat, and his room spotless when he left us. Thank you Declan for your visit and all your help, we hope you keep in touch and please visit us again if you travel through in the future. With so much appreciation from all 5 of us.
