This place is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I learnt so much about Buddhism, community, and what I’m capable of. I left with a brand new perspective on life and a real motivation to create the reality that I want. The work was really varied and enjoyable. There was weeding, baking, working a festival booth, helping to set up spaces, lifting/moving things around, catering, cleaning, washing dishes, general chores around the village. The other compulsory activities were meditation, yebul (service/ceremony), study (like a seminar), teatimes, and 108 bows each evening. Even though we had a strict schedule to follow, on many days something unexpected came along and the routine went out the window. If you simply surrender to the flow of the community, the spontaneity is really enjoyable. It also taught me acceptance in a practical, everyday way- if you can embrace whatever you are asked to do, you can kind of conquer anything. What a valuable lesson. The food here is absolutely incredible, I’ve never eaten so well in my life. Though most meals were completely vegan, note that they don’t currently accept strict vegans. You will be asked to be flexible during the time that you are at the Village. As a vegan myself, I did my best with this, but this was a of contention at times. If this concerns you, free to ask Doahn beopwoonim questions before applying or accepting your place here! She will explain it well and then you can decide for yourself. Also be aware that the hours are very long and sometimes there is very little sleep. (Some days I got 2 or 3 hours). This was a challenge but also not as hard as I thought. I was able to trust the community and just go with it! Only a few people at the village speak English, so it will really help if you know some Korean, but it’s not essential. You’ll feel the support of the community either way, and Doahn beopwoonim will kindly translate teatimes for you. Overall, I am so grateful I got to meet the wonderful members of the community and experience their way of living. As I left this place, I felt more open, more grateful, more excited by life, and I found myself wanting to give to others without promise of return. I recommend this to anyone seeking challenge, something different from their day-to-day life, and who is willing to completely open themselves to the community way. You’ll see for yourself what magic emerges when you let go!

Jack is a very pleasant and friendly person with a lovely sense of English humor. It was great to have him around, and he was helpful, even if his girlfriend Anna contributed a bit more on the work side ;-) We’re happy to warmly recommend him (and as a team with Anna) to other hosts — he’s truly a great guy :-) Jack ist ein sehr sympathischer freundlicher Mensch mit schönem englischen Humor. Es war schön ihn um uns zu haben und er hat uns gut geholfen, wenn auch seine Freundin Anna sich etwas mehr arbeitstechnisch eingebracht hat ;-) Wir empfehlen ihn aber sehr gerne (auch im Team mit Anna) anderen Hosts, er ist ein wirklich lieber Kerl :-)

Trinity is a very beautiful person, it was great to have her around. Surpricenly strong and absolute happy to help with all kind of projects. Sometimes I did hear a little gigle out of joy for what she was doing. I never did ask for doing the dishes but suddenly all was clean when Trinity has been in the kitchen. We had some real nice conversations, very open and I found that very interesting. Thanks a lot Trinity , and I would love to see you again one day!

I had an excellent experience staying with the family. They are extremely kind people ready to share their culture and learn from others. There are very globally minded and are interested in learning about music and the way of living in other countries. They have a talented musician and they are both great cooks. I stayed with them for about a week. I helped out a few hours a day with gardening. I was given my own room to stay in. In the end I had to leave earlier than expected due to construction work on the train tracks which made commuting difficult. When the trains are working it shouldn't take more than 40 min door to door to get into Amsterdam. Overall I would recommend this work away experience!

Emma and Charles are a very down-to-earth and approachable couple. Both are highly sensitive and have the ability to relate to others with great empathy. Respectful and attentive, I believe they could be a valuable resource to host. A big hug and good luck with everything.

Giulia was an absolute joy to host! She brought such a fun and open-hearted energy to the house from the very first day. She helped with several projects — painting a room and some furniture beautifully, and later tackling the garden with great enthusiasm. She’s creative and takes initiative; one of my favorite touches was when she arranged pictures of my family together — such a thoughtful idea! Beyond the work, Giulia was great company. We went out often, shared plenty of laughs, and she made every day lighter and more enjoyable. She’s hardworking, kind, and full of life — I’d host her again anytime and highly recommend her to any future host!

This was my very first workaway experience. I stayed with Joo for 5 weeks and it was absolutely wonderfull. Joo is a great communicator, he is very open en clear in saying what and how he wants to do things, which makes it easy to feel safe. He is also very open for your ideas about how to do things. The main tasks consist of taking care of the animals, you can feel he really loves them, which is beautifull to see. I immediatly saw that the vegetable garden needed some love, so I had my own side project from day one. I asked and checked with him on how to do things, but he also let me do my own thing which was great. I cleaned up the whole vegetable garden, prepared it for spring and made some new beds. Also, he took us for walks in the forest, swimming in the sea, visiting nearby towns and cities and took us to restaurants and cocktail bars! I was welcome every saturday morning to join his qigong / meditation / yoga class which wss amazing! He always made sure there was enough food in the house to eat 3 times a day, and he even bought my favorite beers for me ;) He is a very open, kind and loving person, we had amazing deep conversations, but could also sit in silence without it being awkward. Thank you Joo for making my first workaway experience so nice and special!! I will miss him and I will miss the land and I will return there for sure! BIG LOVE

Manami is an exceptional person, and it’s hard to capture in words just how much she has to offer. She is an absolute pleasure to be around — kind, humble, intelligent, organized, a fantastic cook, and simply a joy to spend time with. During her stay, Manami helped us with several projects — from getting our space back into a clean and presentable state to preparing incredibly delicious, economical, and healthy Japanese lunches for six of us. We enjoyed an amazing week of dining together and sharing stories. We truly hope to welcome Manami back one day, and we also hope to visit her in Japan. We cannot recommend her highly enough — it was an absolute pleasure hosting her, and we wish her all the very best.

Having Negien stay was a mystical experience! From her calming presence in the morning, to her flowing pants walking through the garden, she worked and communicated in a very peaceful way. Negien is a great conversationalist and always has interesting opinions to share with those around her. She had a positive bubbly attitude and got along with everyone in the house, especially my father who was very grateful to have deep and meaningful conversations. She did the tasks asked of her and spent her free time in a wholesome way, which gave a lovely new feeling to the farm, thank you for that Negien! She is an easygoing, sweet and strong young woman with a very open mind, ready to take on new experiences and learn new skills. She also prepared a DELICIOUS shakshuka for everyone and lit up the house with her funky tunes. She painted the doors very well and got so invested that she almost turned blue herself. This was very entertaining for everyone. She also meticulously cleaned the side garden and dog area which was a mess before! She did all of this without complaining and asked for clarification when needed so she could do the job to the best of her abilities. I highly recommend having Negien as a workawayer, she will not disappoint! Negien I wish you all the best on your solo travels, you're going to do some very cool things I know it. Please come back to the farm! Our door is open for you :)

I had the absolute joy of volunteering at here for ten weeks. From the moment I arrived, Kevin and the wonderful souls on the land welcomed me with genuine warmth and kindness, instantly making me feel like part of their family. I was enveloped in an overwhelming sense of safety and belonging. Kevin’s boundless generosity astounded me each day, reinforcing my sense of being cherished and valued within the eco-village. My experience included volunteering at the Girt Dog Gathering, an incredible weekend filled with love, hope, and magick. Together with about twenty other volunteers, we rotated shifts in the kitchen, bar, and various aspects of festival operations. It was hard work, but I loved every moment. Collaborating as a cohesive team in the lead-up to the festival and throughout the event was a beautiful bonding experience. As the buzzing energy of the festival faded and peace and tranquility returned to the land, I dedicated my days to tending to the garden, designing flyers for upcoming events, cooking, and cleaning. Kevin consistently offered me the freedom and autonomy to take the initiative in identifying what needed to be done for ‘work’. I say ‘work’ because if you enjoy this way of life, the line between work and free time blurs beautifully here. I cherished every element of life here, but it was the like-minded souls around me that truly ignited my hope for the future. Thank you, Kevin, for curating such a safe haven for those wanting to make a change in the world. This place will always hold a special place in my heart - until next year ✨🐕

Je viens de passer une douzaine de jours chez Annie et Michel. Ce fût une belle expérience. J'ai été très bien accueilli dans un cadre exceptionnel, montagnard, fait de basaltes, de chaumières, et de lauzes. Annie et Michel ont une ouverture d'esprit propre à ceux qui sont dans l'accueil, passionné par la Nature (et en harmonie avec elle). J'ai pu apprendre à monter un mur en pierres, Michel est très pédagogue, m'aiguillant dans l'exécution des tâches. J'ai pu aussi découvrir la boulangerie avec les explications de Michel (boulanger !) et faire du jardinage. J'ai été nourri par les soins d'Annie, savourant une bonne soupe après une journée de travail... ou une pizza ;) , sans oublier l'artisou ! Nous nous retrouvions le soir au coin du feu, à échanger sur divers sujets non moins intéressants. J'étais logé dans leur gîte, aux petits soins, aux petits oignons, profitant d'un espace intime. J'ai grandement apprécié de leur rendre service, et d'apprendre d'eux. Le Puy en Velay est un coin à découvrir, chargé d'histoire, d'énergies... Un grand merci pour ce séjour ; votre ouverture et votre bienveillance naturelle, Au plaisir de vous revoir dans le futur, entre deux workaways, Belle continuation à tous les deux, sans oublier Martial, Ismael, ... .... J'ai plus qu'adoré mon séjour chez Kathleen qui est une hôte d'exception, super acceuillante et bienveillante. Les mots me manquent pour exprimer mes émotions..! C'était un véritable plaisir de travailler dans son magnifique jardin, de cuisiner ensemble, de regarder des films, ou encore de découvrir la ville en se balandant ou en allant dans un café, à un concert et au cinéma (tant de choses faites en si peu de temps, extra!). Palafrugell est une petite ville charmante, dynamique, amplement accessible, et à 5km de la côte avec de superbes plages à découvrir et des chemins de randonnée les reliant, que demander de plus?! Quant à Kathleen, elle est à l'écoute et a su répondre à mes attentes en termes d'échange linguistique et culturel, je n'ai rien à redire de cette précieuse expérience, c'est une femme cultivée qui ne manquera pas de conversation, et ce, en plusieurs langues! Ça en fait une hôte super intéressante avec qui on ne s'ennuie pas le moins du monde, j'ai grandement apprécié nos échanges tout au long de nos journées passées ensemble et j'en garderai de très très bons souvenirs. Comme beaucoup de Workawayers avant moi, je la recommande les yeux fermés!

If like to have a chill dude around, Stefano is your guy! While his english still has some work it allready improved so much during his stay with us. He has lots of wonderfull stories about his hometown and we loved hearing about those. Stefano is very sweet and social and did very well with our daughter and other workawayer. Our daughter loved playing football with him during his stay. Don't let Stefano come if you cut your spaghetti with a knive (he is ruthless about that ;) )

Ivy was truly one of the most lovely heartwarming workawayers we ever had the pleasure of hosting. She is interessted, enthousiastic and soo easy to hang around with. She stayed with us for 3 weeks, and that was way too short. We hope to see her again in the future. If you love zucchini bread or corn bread, Ivy is your girl !

La meva experiència ha estat increïble. Als matins feia unes hores d’anglès a un institut-escola i vaig poder aprendre molt sobre com funciona l’educació aquí al Perú. A les tardes, en el meu cas, vaig tenir l’oportunitat de fer un munt d’activitats amb els infants: classes de cuina, manualitats, plastilina, jocs, polseres, guitarra… sempre hi havia alguna cosa divertida per fer! La Jennifer és una persona meravellosa, molt propera i amb qui és un plaer conversar. Els voltants de Quillabamba i la ciutat en si són preciosos, natura, calma i bona energia per tot arreu. Ah, i un consell pràctic: porta antimosquits! 😉 Ha estat la meva primera experiència amb Workaway i no podria haver anat millor. Moltíssimes gràcies🥰 CAST: Mi experiencia ha sido increíble. Por las mañanas dedicaba unas horas a enseñar inglés en un instituto-escuela, y pude aprender mucho sobre cómo funciona la educación aquí en Perú. Por las tardes, en mi caso, tuve la oportunidad de hacer un montón de actividades con los niños: clases de cocina, manualidades, plastilina, juegos, pulseras, guitarra… ¡siempre había algo divertido que hacer! Jennifer es una persona maravillosa, muy cercana y con la que da gusto conversar. Los alrededores de Quillabamba y la ciudad en sí son preciosos: naturaleza, tranquilidad y buena energía por todas partes. Ah, y un consejo práctico: ¡lleva repelente de mosquitos! 😉 Ha sido mi primera experiencia con Workaway y no podría haber ido mejor. Muchas gracias🥰

Seba and Eli and the broader family are very welcoming, and we enjoyed staying in our own apartment, helping out with lots of different activities, picking grapes, a bit of cleaning, gardening, and preparing the property for winter. We were taken to visit local attractions, joined in with family celebrations, and felt very much a part of the family. The location is beautiful, vineyards on the Mosel river, castles, and picturesque villages. Cochem is nearby, and Trier is an easy train ride. Fantastic Workaway hosts.

Fleur, Ana and Jojo made me feel completely welcome and at home! The work was really flexible, there were no scheduled hours and I could essentially help out with whatever I wanted to. I mostly helped with watching the kids and household chores. I would also go back and forth to explore Cologne on my own (which is about an hour and a half away on the train). This was totally fine with them! There was a lot of freedom to choose what I wanted to get out of this experience. The children are an absolute delight, I really fell in love with them. They are so caring, creative and sweet and a testament to Fleur, Ana and Jojo’s parenting. I learnt so much through observing the family, mainly about gender non-confirmative and gentle parenting, but also about anti-racism, kitchen-table polyamory… or just whatever topic we discussed. You will certainly not be short of interesting conversation here!! They took me to Cologne with them for a vegan picnic meetup, language exchange nights, amazing vegan food, for a queer night out, to an outdoor cinema on the river to see Wicked, and we even travelled to a few other German cities together…the list goes on! I loved playing board games, watching movies together, taking part in Shabbat and Sunday family breakfasts. They made effort to make sure we made great memories together which I am eternally grateful for! Most of all, I’m just so happy I met this family. They are so open hearted. I could be my authentic self, and there is such freedom in that. I feel like I now have family in Germany :’) Thank you for everything

I spent three wonderful weeks with Werner and Ce, and it was an amazing experience. Morro de São Paulo is truly a paradise — the perfect place to relax while doing just a few hours of work each day. My tasks included going for bread in the morning, cleaning stairways from leaves, and helping out with other small things when needed (construction, painting walls, etc.). The work was usually around two to three hours a day, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the sea, nature, and the town. Werner and Ce are kind, welcoming, and very clear about everything. They made me feel at home from the start. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a calm and beautiful place to stay. Thank you for everything!
