the 3 week stay at Thamy and Stein was my first experience with Workaway and I'm really happy to have chosen them! they are two fantastic people who welcomed me with great enthusiasm. I'm happy to have taken part in the construction of their house, I can say that there is also a piece of me within those walls! Thamy and Stein were very patient with my English and I thank them very much, I never felt uncomfortable. Otte is too sweet, I liked playing with her. I will never forget the evenings around the bonfire. THANK YOU<3

Christopher was true to his word and commited to helping us from May until mid Sept. ,months before our season began. Of course this can be worrisome receiving a "YES" far in advance as other opportunities can come up for workawayers . Christopher was true to his word and showed up on time early May and stayed until the end. He is friendly, polite and was an asset to our Smoothie Season. He made Smoothies in our industrial blender, unloaded supplies, Hitched up a concession trailer, headed off to Market in early mornings ,and made transactions dealing with point of sale and making change. He is a confident driver and holds an international driver's licence. Wishing him all the best as he explores Canada! Don't hesitate to hire him.

I had a wonderful 3 weeks here. The hostel work was relaxed, maybe an hour cleaning in the morning then general help around the evening but always time to go off and walk around Mardin. On days off Huseyin organised trips to nearby villages to meet his friends and explore the surrounding area, we even made kurdish wine one time! Quite quickly made connections around the town and got invited to lots of local events. If you are wanting to visit mardin, volunteering here is the best way to do that. Also the hostel is always open to improvements. One of mine being 'every hostel should have a map' - There is now a big world map, which sparked lots of conversations with guests. Thank you Hüseyin, I appreciate you. I will be back! 🙏

Our workaway with Pablo and Mili was our first workaway experience, and we couldn't have asked for anything better! Pablo and Mili are wonderful hosts: with their two little girls, Alma and Agui, they are a very welcoming and warm family who offer a genuine cultural exchange by sharing their daily lives with us. The working hours, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., pass particularly quickly, with music and a very warm atmosphere, and when you love crafts and books, it doesn't even feel like work! Pablo speaks English very well, which makes communication much easier even for people who speak little or no Spanish, and that doesn't stop us from learning the language: in the three weeks we spent there, our level improved enormously. Pablo and Mili's family makes us feel like we're with our own family, and yet the time spent in private is perfectly balanced with the time spent together! The conversations are rich, the meals are excellent and very healthy, and everyone's tasks are perfectly balanced! We can only recommend this Workaway 100%. We now know that we have real friends in Chile and we will not hesitate to come back during our trip!

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful farm. Phil and Helen were incredibly welcoming and kind. Helen’s cooking was absolutely delicious, and I learned so much from Phil . His passion and knowledge about permaculture are truly inspiring. Even though I didn’t get the chance to do many different activities, Phil always took the time to explain everything to me with patience and enthusiasm. As a beginner in permaculture, I really appreciated how much I learned during my stay. Thank you again for this amazing experience!

This was my first Workaway and I had such a lovely time in this place Amimi was a very communicative and welcoming host, and made the whole process of planning my visit very seamless. The village is about an hour away from Durban and you can coordinate a pick up with Amimi or take an inexpensive Uber. While there, I had such a variety of experiences, including a sunrise river hike, helping prepare the center for and then attending a massive tourism launch event, playing with local kids in the afternoons, and even attending a multi-day traditional wedding. I opted to stay with a host family who took such good care of me! They cooked delicious meals, offered me a super comfortable room to stay in, and even dressed me up to attend the wedding. I'm very grateful to everyone who welcomed me so kindly, and to have experienced such immersion in Zulu culture.

We spent 3 weeks at Jerome's place and had a great time there. Jerome is a kind and helpful person. He is thoughtful and open-minded, and we had a lot of interesting conversations about life, spirituality, culture, history and many other things. The work we did was very varied. We helped with garden maintenance, cleaned the water tank, repaired tiles and stonewalls with cement and did cleaning and cooking. Even though some of the work was hard, it was never overwhelmingly so and we learned some new things along the way which was nice. Jerome makes sure that the fridge is always filled with healthy and filling groceries which was lovely. Also, he has probably the best olive oil in the whole damn world made from olives from his own land 😄 The house is placed in a cozy little village a small hour north of Granada. We drove there in our own car, which was helpful. It's a little remote, so you may feel a little isolated if you don't have a car. Jerome is great company but also has his own life to maintain. In that regard, we were happy that we were two people going together as it might get a little lonely otherwise. He has a very sweet and friendly dog named Neo who we and our own dog became good friends with! The view from his place is breathtaking and serves as the most gorgeous backdrop for your time there. All in all we recommend going to Jerome's for your Workaway and we appreciate the time we spent there. Thank you Jerome! ♥️

Louisa stayed with us for four weeks in july 2025. She is a very kind and humble person. Always eager to help and learn. We enjoyed her calm and pleasant company and her sense of responsibility in taking care of the farms animals and vegetablebeds.

I absolutely loved staying at Philipps place. He's such a generous, caring and intelligent person. Whenever you're interested in learning something new, he takes his time to teach you and treat you with all the love and patience. I admire all the self taught skills he has and the amazing place he has created. Not only did I gain some insight in practical stuff, but conversations with Philipp really made me think about the world in different ways. I found his work mentality very motivational, a true self made man with a big heart. Living on a hill with so many varieties of plants, loving animals and great kitchen tools is all you need. At Phillips place it's also very easy to create healthy rituals and habits. We eat healthy meals, have fun creating food from the garden and there's plenty of nice work-out opportunities. Philipp taught me that nothing is impossible, you just need to find your inner obsession and go for it! It's also a great place to practice some Spanish, since Philipp workers are amazing people who are happy to have some basic Spanish conversations :) And they like to put on some music too ;) I already miss Philipps presence, his unworldy cute and soft animals, the fantastic garlic grater and the esthetics of Philipp making his midday coffee.

For about 10 days, we’ve been taking care of Reece, a senior dog, in her own home. Although it took us a little while to connect at first — she preferred to stay upstairs doing her own thing — we eventually kept each other great company and enjoyed some lovely walks along the boardwalk. We know from our own experience how hard it can sometimes be to leave an older dog in someone else’s care. We believe that Yeska, our dog, ultimately helped bring us all closer together. Thank you, Jailin, for giving us this opportunity and for helping us whenever we needed it. It’s been a pleasure taking care of Reece and your beautiful home!

This was a wonderful experience, overall in all regards. I was so happy, felt at home and was sad to leave. Valeria's home is very comfortable and well organized. Communication and expectations were always clear, and the work expectations are very reasonable. She and her family were great hosts, and I hope to be back in 2026!

Living in Wind's place was super chill - we both left with tears (from gratitude :D) in our eyes because we could live together with so many cool and beautiful people! Wind has great trust in people and loves having creative, open people around him, so being able to live in his house and meet some of his friends, is a great pleasure and very fun. Also he seems to be good at attracting nice people because other workawayers were also super chill and cool people to live together with. So it's definitely a lovely place to visit if you're into communal life, hanging out with others, ready for fun surprises and enjoy creating together. Also a lot of music around there :) So if you like to play music - good place to visit. Work was also very chill and we could choose what fits our characters the best. So it's good that everybody can harness their strengths and make good use of their unique skills. Wind is very easy to communicate to, so whenever we had questions or doubts about anything, we could easily talk about it and find solutions fast. And besides working time or playing together in Wind's place, discovering the surroundings is - oh how epic. So beautiful views and the diversity of this land is just amazing ... Also Wind's house itself is in a very beautiful location. If you're lucky, you can just admire Harbour porpoise (looks like a dolphin) swimming by from the bathroom window ... or walk down the beach and just slide onto the water. And our dog was so lovingly accepted into the community (luckily she's very chill with sheep who might wonder around, just to keep in mind when thinking about coming with a doggo :)) Carrying a lot of laughter, epic views and beautiful moments in our hearts from Wind's home! Thank you for creating such open creation hub which makes you feel at home very fast.

I spend in total seven weeks on the ranch. After my first stay in August, I came back in October. The ranch is a wonderful place and I'm so glad I found it. I will miss many things, but especially the following five things. 1. The People: Danica and Kan are friendly and warm-hearted people who always made me feel very welcome. Bernie, Isobel, and Kalea are also very nice, and I really enjoyed spending time with them. 2. The Animals: I have grown very fond of all the dogs, even the little devil that lurks in the youngest of them. Of course, I will also miss Tilly, the bison calf that I was privileged to babysit. 3. The view: There is nothing better than waking up and looking out of the window onto a beautiful valley. The sunrises I experienced and the view of the clear stars were spectacular. 4. The food: Whether pancakes, brownies, sandwiches, spaghetti, or roasted marshmallows, everything I ate at the ranch was delicious. 5. Work: Even though I sometimes complained about the monotony of operating the wood splitter, I had a lot of fun at work. The best tasks were, of course, those that required riding the quad bike. Nightshifts with Tilly killed my sleep rhythm but the time I spent with her was worth it. Thank you so much for everything. I will keep this memory forever and never forget what I learned from you. I hope we stay in contact and see each other again.

Lucas has volunteered at our hostel twice — the first time last winter and now again in September and October. He is a fantastic guy who brings great energy to the team and works efficiently on all the tasks assigned to him. He helped with cleaning, reception duties and in the kitchen during our BBQ night. We also trusted him with organizing beach set-ups and a couple of exciting Brazilian music events, as he’s a very sociable person with a natural talent for connecting with people. During his stay, he made many friends, and it’s always a real pleasure to have him around. We are really thankful for his precious help, and he’s always welcome back here. We absolutely recommend him as a Workawayer!
