Thank you so much, Bec, Damian, and Em! Your kindness and support helped us find our footing in Australia, and thanks to you, we even managed to pimp our campervan—a dream come true! We couldn’t be more grateful for the warmth, laughter, and unforgettable moments shared. Looking forward to staying in touch and sending you stories from the road! Here is a little poem about our stay: Our room is filled with colors so bright Purple, blue and red from the chandelier light. Waking up with the dogs and ending the day with dinner, Who will be the real Phase 10 winner? We scrub, we paint, we laugh everyday Enjoying the peace of this great workaway.

It was great to host such a lovely and helpful person, especially when we had a big party to organise for my mother's 90th birthday! Thank you Claudia.

I had the privilege of staying in Chris’ home for a month and taking care of the animals while he was away. The dogs were wonderful company- lovable, adorable, and sweet. I had a lot of fun feeding the ducks & geese and eventually making friends with Eggsy the goose! Although I’ve only been gone a few days, I already miss the animals dearly. The accommodations left nothing to be desired, with your own bedroom and bathroom. The house is modern and well thought out, with stunning views. It’s easy to spend time there or walking around the ponds at the back of the property. If I wanted to go out for a day trip, the family and roommate were usually able to let the dogs out, which allowed for sightseeing. I highly recommend staying with Chris. He is a genuine person who cares about both parties having a great experience, and he and his family are absolutely lovely.

It was a wonderful experience working and spending two weeks with Ervin and his family. They are friendly, easygoing, and made us feel welcome from day one. Communication during work was always clear, and the tasks were exactly as described—straightforward and manageable. During our free time, they were always eager to offer suggestions for great places to visit, share their bikes, and drive us around sometimes. We truly enjoyed our stay and the time we spent with them. If we return to Umag, we would definitely love to visit them again!

This was my first workaway, and i think it was the best choice I made. Oier is a great host: he knows how to make you feel welcomed and puts in a lot of effort to show you what there is to see on the Island. I'm very grateful for the unexpected and meaningful moments I shared with people there, this Island and Host have a lot to share that will stay with you for life. Arturo - best cat in the world!

Gene was an absolutely amazing host. For a very first Workaway experience, it's set our expectations pretty high. He is very unique and definitely left a strong impression, despite us only being there a little over a week. He showed us a plethora of cool local places to eat and made a strong effort to be hospitable and give Workawayers a taste of what living in Seattle is like. We’re both from the U.S., but I still think the cultural difference in Seattle is very noticeable—being much more open and progressive. A pretty shocking thing for us was going to the beach at sunrise and being encouraged to swim in the frigid Puget Sound. It was invigorating! It’s something I’d never have done on my own, but it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience, despite the cold. Gene has traveled all over the world, is very open-minded, and has so many fun life stories to share. He’s also really funny—on accident, I think. Conversations never got old, and I feel like there’s still so much more to hear. He took us to the community garden as part of our work, and we had some surprisingly good fall weather, which really brought out the beauty and color of the garden and the city as a whole. The kitchen—and the house in general—is so nice and organized, which made cooking a lot easier. The system of people making food was really cool, and it was nice to have so many delicious home-cooked meals while also getting to practice my own cooking. The house is also in an amazing location, close to downtown and the college campus. It’s really easy to go out on your own, make new friends, and find cool activities nearby. Overall, Gene is an amazing host who we can’t recommend enough. It’s a lot more than just a place to stay and work—it’s a truly memorable experience I won’t forget. I’ve already been missing Seattle, and it’s so amazing to have made a good friend there. We’re looking forward to visiting again in the future!

I really enjoyed the 3 months I work traded at Rainbow Bridge. It is a beautiful property, overflowing with more fruit than you could possibly eat, adorable animal friends, and beautiful waterfalls. The team is caring and compassionate, and is an excellent opportunity to learn how to exist within community. The four days a week work schedule is structured with community dinners and there are plenty of opportunities to relax, explore the island, and join in community events. The residents are passionate about what they do, have multiple projects occurring simultaneously, and are very good about placing work traders in positions that play to their strengths according to the need of the farm. Other than regular maintenance tasks, the work is varied, and it is a great opportunity to learn skills and apply them in an environment that allows for independent work and critical thinking skills with no micromanaging. I absolutely recommend work trading for Rainbow Bridge if you appreciate connection with people, animals, and the spirit of the land here on Hawaii.

Thanks Ashish for such a wonderful Workaway experience in Uttarakhand! I never expected to find so much peace in India. I’m really grateful for everything — the amazing food, the kindness of everyone in the house, and how everyone always made an effort to communicate and make us feel comfortable, even when English was limited. Beautiful food, beautiful place — I would come back anytime!

We absolutely loved having Lucy come stay with us! She was so respectful and skilled. We loved how quickly she bonded with our dog, Disco, and how she really took initiative to take on house and garden tasks. Lucy was such a joy to live with - very organised and kind. She was so easy to talk to and just great company. We are thrilled she has got a job here and is settling into Vancouver so well - it means we get to see her after the workaway has finished.

Hanna was a darling member of our flowing team of workawayers that becomes part of the family ...she was always ready to help with cleaning, organising, helping cook, be a helper for making sure everything was fine during a yoga retreat, help with the wildlife centre...she was always open to all tasks and her calm and happy energy was very welcome - come back whenever you are in brasil!!!

Ruth and Michael were very homey and excellent hosts! They were very helpful, had very reasonable expectations, and were a sincere delight! The food was delicious and the cookies spectacular. They allow space for creative help as well! There were a lot of hikers on the trails passing through and so many new people to talk to! Lots to do and take care of and lots to do. Very caring, thoughtful and if you love the outdoors, this is definitely one of the best places to be! Would definitely recommend and come back again if possible!!

Izzie and Julia stayed with us for 10 days, and it was truly a wonderful experience to have them here! This year, our harvest season ended much earlier than expected, so most of the time we were focusing on preparing the garden for winter and doing a big autumn clean-up. They were both incredibly enthusiastic, cheerful, and brought such a positive energy to our home. Always curious, open-minded, and very helpful — they approached every task with a smile and genuine interest. We especially loved how they shared their own experiences, stories, and traditions with us; it made our time together even more special. And of course, we’ll never forget our fun “tongue-twister evenings” — so many laughs! 😄 We can only recommend Izzie and Julia to any future host. They are wonderful people, hardworking, kind, and full of light. We truly hope our paths will cross again one day! With warm hugs, Júlia & Martin

My stay at Skalli’s was not too long, but awesome the same. As he had some technicians building the bathroom -where wonderful hot shower awaits you-, I mostly helped him with chores and cooking; but I also spent meditative hours picking delicious murta from the hillside. Working schedule is not strick, autonomy encouraged, and Skalli was always open to whatever project I felt like working on that day. We’ve talked a great deal of politics and culture, went to a friend’s birthday party together, but personal space was granted too. Skalli is not short on crazy stories and bold projects either. The place is mesmerising: the steep rocky coast, wild goats and the murta covered hillside is truly a unique scenery. Fairly different of other parts of the island. The volunteer’s accommodation is still rough, which leaves plenty of opportunities to turn the little cabin on the cliff into something amazing. 🙃 Besides, there’s also another option to say closer to the main house. Absolutely a place to be and a person to get to know!

One of the best and most genuine experiences of my travel in NZ staying with Jeremy, Vale, L., and Pablo in their cozy and beautiful house by the lake. I spent about 20 days with them and truly felt part of the family from the very first moment. They are such kind and positive people, and you can talk with them about so many different topics. The food is amazing — Jeremy is a fantastic chef — and Vale brings a lovely touch of Italian warmth that you’ll really enjoy. The work is varied and depends a bit on the time of year, but there’s always something useful to do to lend a hand. They were very flexible and made sure I had enough free time to explore their beautiful area. Everything was just perfect, and I’m really grateful to them. If you’re looking for a Workaway experience in Central Otago, you should definitely contact them!
