We stayed at Gagan Farm for six peaceful and beautiful days. The children and grandchild were away this time, but Laxmi and Krishna welcomed us with warmth and made sure we had a great time. They cooked Nepali food and every evening we sat together in the kitchen playing cards, laughing and feeling at home. Krishna took us to a nearby waterfall and to a local statue, showing us places we would not have found on our own. During our stay more volunteers arrived and it was lovely to meet people from different parts of the world, share meals and work together in the fields. Gagan Farm is a calm and friendly place that reminds you how good life feels when you are close to the earth and kind people.

I was blessed with my first workaway experience to be 10/10. I specifically joined for the olive harvest as I was interested how olive oil is made. Vincenzo (the host) picked me and my friend (I met on this platform) from the train station, so to get to his home was a pleasant drive and lots of chatting. Olive oil experience: We were involved in olive picking, visited olive oil making factory, bottled the oil, labeled the bottles and basically now know of the whole process. It is very interesting and fulfilling to be involved in the whole life cycle. The work on the field is pleasant, around nature, the weather is not that hot in October (we actually stil lwere able to swim in the sea on beach days). We were working in 7-9 people, Vincenzo's workers joined us and were guiding the whole process, which made the whole process easier to grasp and contribute from day 1. Tip: make sure you have your old clothes and sneakers with you, since you will get dirty :) Sunscreen and a hat is a must. Community: I met wonderful people with this workaway experience. Everyone was helping each other on the field and shared good laughs, amazing meals and beach drives. At first I thought it will be just me and my friend, but we ended up being 6 of us, which felt like a little family of Vincenzo :) Add 4 cats and a dog here, and you get a full happy house! Vincenzo aka the host. The communication with him was positive from the very first contact. He had positive energy from the day one. The meals he cooked for us, the stories he shared, the way how he opened his heart and home to all of us, will forever stay in my memory. Vincenzo is kind, generous and easy to work/find common ground with person :) He also introduced us to his friends who were the nicest people! I am truly grateful for these 12 days I spent in Vincenzo's home and getting to know him. His house is welcoming and I will be happy to come back! I am recommending this workaway experience 10/10.

I had the privilege of helping out at the school here in Chiti. The atmosphere that Shamser had created, both at the school as for the volunteers, is something really unique. I helped with painting (both mural decorative painting and wall painting) in the new building, gardening, the morning moral greetings with the children and assisting in the kitchen, each offering unforgettable experiences. The highlight of my stay was the one-on-one teaching sessions with children with disabilities. A challenging but incredible rewarding part of the experience here. Finding playful yet educational ways to teach using gentle parenting methods was both powerful and profound. Wow, what an experience! Lastly, the volunteer group played such a vital role. Every single person shared the same mindset: wanting to help out, learn from the children and each other, and create a safe space where we could brainstorm and share both the highs and lows. Special thanks to Shamser for creating this unique project with such dedication and love, you truly carry it with all your heart. I feel so thankful to have had the chance to be a part of it! Much love, Floor

Milan was an absolutely fantastic volunteer. He returned twice to offer his invaluable assistance. I've known him for three years and we're always in touch because he's a wonderful guy! He's friendly, helpful, and always ready to help. His positive attitude and enthusiasm make it a pleasure to work with him. Milan is tireless, ready to get involved whenever there's work to be done, and he knows how to enjoy moments of celebration and relaxation. He works perfectly in a team, demonstrating great collaboration skills, and is always attentive and thoughtful. Furthermore, Milan is punctual and respects all scheduled times, demonstrating his reliability and commitment. Overall, Milan has been a valuable asset to my team and I highly recommend him for any future opportunities! I will miss him greatly and hope to host him again in my home. Milan! This will always be your home whenever you want to return. Even the Parrots will miss you greatly :P A big hug from Trieste ciao Massimo

Jade was with us in Sept/Oct.. A resourceful and practical girl, she got into the routine of the place easily. When there was no solar she had no difficulty starting the fire to heat the water for the shower. She did all the usual jobs/tasks around the place very well. In particular using the machete to chop weeds for composting. She can drive the brouette very well. Always willing to help, we made a lot of apple juice and tidied up the garden for the winter. A very nice girl , her English is perfect, we had no difficulty communicating, especially with her very good vocabulary. She could play the flute very well and got into the Tai Chi in the morning. Thanks for all your help, we will miss you Love Paddy

I have had one of the most beautiful months of my life at Angelo's place. The property is absolutely stunning with amazing views of Etna everywhere. Angelo is an amazing host and has been super comunicative from the first contact, offering information and help every step of the way. He is also an amazing chef, I have many fond memories if eating delicious home cooked meals while talking about all kinds of topics. I truly felt at home while staying with him. The tasks were quite diverse and pretty simple and Angelo took the time to explain what he needed so everything was always clear. my main task was to feed and walk an adorable, friendly older dog twice a day and then I did whatever was needed in the garden and sometimes around the house. I also had the pleasure of meeting some of Angelos friends, who are very interesting, friendly and welcoming people. I was lucky to join them for many dinner parties and excursions in the area. I truly could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much, Angelo!

Fabian arrived with little experience working in an alpine environment, where the tasks involve a lot of hiking and practical help that require both manual skill and a sharp mind and he left almost like a pro! Once again, this proves to me that with the right mindset and motivation, even without prior experience, someone can thrive working outdoors. He quickly learned how to build and remove fences in challenging terrain, and handled the animals as if they were his own with great love and respect. He was a trustworthy, intelligent, and very talented helper. Often, I didn’t even need to explain much, as he took care of tasks independently and also worked well within the team. Since I’m always very busy, I truly appreciate helpers I can rely on completely and Fabian was exactly that. He managed the farm excellently. He came here twice, already familiar with the area and trusted by the animals, which made the second stay even easier for all of us. Fabian may be a city boy, but he has a country heart and a truly reliable attitude. I can fully recommend him to any future host.

The time Lukas stayed with us was excellent. He managed our social media with great skill and worked very well with the staff. We had a very positive experience with him. He also helped with one of our side projects involving children and showed excellent manners throughout. We were very happy to have him with us , he was flexible, responsible, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended! I believe he can adapt easily and thrive in any environment.

Ziba and Hasan are both very knowledgeable, kindhearted and generous people. I learnt plenty about farming, sustainable living, Cyprus and it’s political situation, the homegrown food and the cooking was amazing and in my free time I got to borrow their bike and go to a beautiful beach they recommended nearby. During my time here I did everything from taking care of the chickens, pruning, weeding, harvesting and taking care of the harvest to more creative tasks. I even got to join the olive harvest of the year! The work hours are very relaxed as I could distribute the hours however I wanted (except for chicken duties :)) and I was never asked to work overtime. Though, this is the kind of work you could do all day, it’s so peaceful and I got plenty of task options to choose from everyday, there was always something I found exciting. I had a truly enjoyable and peaceful time here. Ziba and Hasan, thank you for hosting me! I hope to be back some day🧚‍♀️

Coni was an absolute pleasure to host! From the moment she arrived, she blended effortlessly into our little community — caring for the pets with such affection, engaging thoughtfully in every project, and bringing a calm, positive energy to the house. Her enthusiasm and curiosity made every task more enjoyable, and she approached even simple chores with sincerity and creativity. It was wonderful sharing stories and ideas with her, and she quickly became part of the rhythm of daily life here. Coni’s appreciation for the home, the animals, and the vision behind our project truly meant a lot — it reminded me why I started hosting in the first place. We’re deeply grateful for her help and her kind spirit. Any host would be lucky to have her — she leaves a place better than she found it, and everyone around her happier. She’s always welcome back here anytime! 🌿🐾

Marilena is a wonderful person: autonomous, reliable, and capable in any situation. Whether it's caring for a sick person, driving in the dark, or handling hard work, you can always count on her. She is not demanding, but she thrives on meaningful exchange, appreciating simple pleasures like a city tour or a deep discussion around a campfire. Eager to share, she'll tell you a lot about Greece and its rich culture. I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and can genuinely say I made a new friend.

Dear Carrie and Grace, it was a pleasure to have you here! You were working so independently and diligently in the garden. You weeded the garden and caught snails so self-sufficiently and industriously, which was a great relief for us. You repaired the hut roof and did it so well, as if it were your own little hut! It was wonderful to share time and make music with you. Your song is still here and we play it often. Many heartfelt thanks, and you are always warmly welcome back! Lisa and Michael

Dear Aimee and Claira, it was wonderful, that you were here and participated in so many activities in our village in such a short time! The dance group remembers you well! You also joined in the choir and Pilates. Aaaand you were there live when the international jury came and we presented our village. Dear Remi, how nice that you were here and took care of the garden with your calm and reliable nature. You were cleaning our stream by boat. I'm happy about that. It was fun making music with you. Loved especially your French singing. Thanks for being here! Best regards from Lisa and Michael
