Thiago is a very reliable person, very responsible, he thinks he cant speak English very well, but he is actually much better in person face to face and texting through whatssapp, he is trustworthy looking after keys and is very meticulous person, we would definitely recommend him to any future workawayers and i know he will return to our area soon as he adores it.

I stayed here for a little over two weeks and helped Brandon redesign three of their websites, plus made a few short videos for social media. It was low season, so things were pretty chill at the hostel. Brandon wasn’t around during my stay, but we stayed in touch through WhatsApp to collaborate — which wasn’t a problem for me at all. His wife Joy, her friend Ate Apol, and the rest of the staff were all super nice and accommodating. They always made sure I had what I needed as long as I communicated it. There were also times they’d invite me to join their meals, which I really appreciated since my setup only included free accommodation in exchange for a few hours of work on weekdays. Overall, I didn’t have any issues! Brandon even offered to arrange a ride to the airport for me before I left, which was such a thoughtful gesture since he couldn’t be there in person. It was a really great experience — I had a lot of fun during my days off exploring the island and going on tours 🌴✨

I spent two weeks with Roberto and Marina. It was a wonderful experience! The work consisted of renovating the house and building furniture during the mornings. The surrounding area is very pretty, with pleasant bike paths and hiking trails. I highly recommend it!

Lazar was so welcoming. We had conversations in Russian and shared our experiences of volunteering, which was so interesting, thank you for the discussion! We ate lots of pears and even made morning porridge and pancakes!

I went here twice in one week to help out with the reading sessions and had an amazing experience! Hoang created such a beautiful community hub and the kids were so sweet and had amazing English skills. I've been telling everyone I meet who's going to Hoi An to volunteer here, especially in a touristy place like Hoi An, it's nice to see another side of the town and get involved with the community a little bit!!

I had the privilege of spending six unforgettable weeks at this beautiful sanctuary and I am incredibly grateful for the experience! From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed and got to know all the animals – each and every one of them has its own touching story. Alice and Noel care for the animals and their volunteers with so much love and dedication. Thanks to their extensive knowledge about animals, the environment and veganism, I learned a lot. The community with the other volunteers was also something very special! We worked together, cuddled animals, had lots of fun, sat together in the evenings and had deep conversations - I met many lovely people that were always there when you needed help, someone to talk to, advice or just a hug 🫂 I miss the lovely animals (especially the belly rubs for the pigs 😊), the people and their positive energy as well as feeling rooted and connected to yourself. Thank you, Alice and Noel, for creating such a safe space where you can grow, learn and just be! ❤️

I had an incredible stay with Shannon, Karl, theirs dogs and the other volunteers. I was supposed to stay 2 weeks, turned into almost a month. I loved my time there. We had great time all together around good supper or during the tasks we had to do Shannon makes sure the work we do is safe, and she wants us to let her know if we have interests for a certain type of job So I spent lots of time with firewood ! It was on of my best workaway, she's an exemple, how she run her businness, her kindness ,I felt at the right place, doing things for a business that matter ! Thank you so much Shannon !

My stay here was simply amazing. I’ll never be thankful enough to Sara and Alessandro, two wonderful hosts and truly special human beings, who welcomed me into their lives. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the magical and calm atmosphere of a Berber village like Sidi Kaouki. I already miss exploring new places with Alessandro, practicing yoga with Sara, and chatting in perfect Italian with Mohamed. I can’t wait to go back, that place truly feels like home now.

I came to this family with the idea of staying only 3 months but the experience loved me so much that I stayed 6 hahahahaha at Katheryn's house it has been much more than incredible, you will be eating very delicious and healthy, and you will have your private and very comfortable room. I wasn't a vegetarian before arriving at Katerin's house but the way she cooks the dishes made me adapt easily and even experiment cooking different things! He also has two lovely children JJ and Amelie; JJ is a very sweet boy and at first he was shy but after having confidence he will want to play with you all the time, he never gets tired 😅 and my English was not very good with Amelie but I tried, she is a teenager now, very outgoing and too funny, they will always treat you with respect and they will see you as part of the family 🏡 ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have to admit that my experience in Corsica was bittersweet. On one hand, I am deeply grateful for meeting Beate and Carolina, whose kindness and genuine care made me feel truly welcomed. They offered me a lovely cabin, and every day Carolina prepared meals that were absolutely delicious. Over the three weeks I spent there, we shared many special moments — talking, dancing, meditating, and working together. I am thankful for the chance to experience their unique way of living, so closely connected to and appreciative of the surrounding nature. That said, at times my stay was overshadowed by my interactions with Gerd. From the very beginning, I felt a lack of understanding between us. I initially brushed it off, telling myself that not everyone has to connect and that perhaps his way of being was simply very particular. However, my perspective shifted toward the end of my stay, when another workawayer, Marie, arrived. After a few days, we admitted to each other that our gut feelings aligned — we both felt uneasy in his presence. For me, the breaking point came on my last day. While Marie and I were working in the kitchen, Gerd walked in and “joked” (not in the presence of Beate or Carolina, who surely would have intervened) that it was just like in the “good old days” — the slaves were working, and the master had time to rest. That is a direct quote, and he seemed almost proud of himself for saying it. We were shocked and speechless. At that moment, I felt relieved to be leaving, but also deeply concerned for Marie. As a Black woman, she was already worried about how she might be treated in Corsica, and this incident made me fear for her well-being. A few days after I left, Marie reached out to me. She had hesitated at first, but eventually confided that things escalated after my departure. She no longer felt safe in their home, and Beate even told her that she wasn’t the first volunteer to cut their stay short because of Gerd’s behavior. #redacted - related to other persons experience# I feel it is my responsibility to share this, partly on Marie’s behalf. As her subscription to this platform expired, she was unable to post her review herself. While I understand that this community has many glowing reviews — which is one of the main reasons I trusted it would be a safe experience — I also believe it’s important for future volunteers to have insight into the other side of the reality before making their decision.

Noboku, Our time together was brief and we felt it was important for your to experience as much of the west of Ireland as possible in your short visit. We loved sharing our home/family with you and enjoyed learning more about Japanese culture from you. We look forward to keeping in touch and hope you will send lovely photos in the springtime when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. Love from Galway, Ron, Mona, Kye and Jack

Alessandro .... we were all so very sad to say goodbye to you as you headed back to the sunshine for the summer in Italy. We are certain our paths will cross again and really hope it is annually. Our time spent with you here in Galway is filled with lots of fun memories and delicious dinners and long evenings out on the deck. Your attentiveness to the work that needed attention daily, was so helpful during a really busy period of time in Galway for our family and the students. Looking forward to following your travels and can't wait to see you again soon xx Lots of love, Ron, Móna, Kye, Jack xx

I don't know where to start. this place was just truly amazing. It was my first Workaway experience and really great. I stayed at the hotel for 16 days. My work included caring for social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), doing gardening work and helping in the kitchen (I did that voluntarily because I wanted to learn how to cook) 😂. Everyone was just so so nice and helpful. I especially created friendships with other workers that worked in the kitchen. Even though they didn't speak proper English, we managed to communicate and used to play card games and swam in the pool a lot. Another worker (Rauff) showed me around the ancient city of Anuradhapura. he is probably on of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. All in all, I learned a lot during this time and had a great time enjoying the nature around to free my mind. 100% recommend this Workaway.

Anton is a workawayer I was really wishing for. It was very harmonious and easy going and I could 100% rely on him. He is very handy and skillful considerate and responsible. I felt relaxed and could focus on other things while he was fulfilling the tasks we talked about. We had also really nice talks and connection. I wished Anton could stay longer, but even though it was only 5 days I felt the support and relief, because he did things and also we did a supportive wall together, I couldn´t do on my own. Anton is also very good with animals, my cat loved him. He seems to be connected with nature, he was watching the birds a lot and did hikes in the area. Anton is anytime welcome again!
