My stay with Marke was amazing! She was communicative, flexible and very welcoming. She made me feel like I could be comfortable and at home. When it came to helping she explained things and answered any questions I had. She was also forgiving and light hearted when I had to correct some of my work. She has a very easy going and peaceful lifestyle and was easy to get along with. The accomodations were very cozy and charming. She provided healthy and delicious meals and asked for input on them as well. Some highlights were using the sauna, nature walks, and conversations with Marke as we worked on painting an entryway. I enjoyed my stay very much and would recommend it to anyone!

What a wonderful family and stay! Sherry and Troy truly saved us after a difficult Workaway experience and welcomed us on very short notice for a two-week stay. From the first day, they made us feel part of the family. We shared lovely evenings with them, their kids and Sherry’s sister Amber, enjoying delicious and healthy meals together with great conversations. We helped out in the garden with weeding, sanding a log cabin, cutting boards, and even learned how to use a sawmill. Our accommodation was an amazing, well-kept camping trailer that felt like a cozy little home. During the last few days, we house-sat for them, taking care of their sweet dog Josie, their three cats and the plants. Thank you so much, Sherry and Troy, for your kindness, generosity and for making our stay such a positive and memorable experience!

My stay at Amelia & Nick's place was a extremely last-minute decision and also the shortest stay I've had on Workaway so far. Thank you so much for making everything work out so spontaneously and perfectly. I only had a week, but I never thought I would see and experience so much of Edmonton. We always started work early so that the afternoon was free for adventures, such as Muttart or the West Edmonton Mall. Roofing and laying floors was so much fun and I learned a lot. Thank you to all the other Workawayers, it was really nice working alongside you. It's impossible to get bored in Edmonton, and if you do, there are free things to do that will fill your day (ice cream hunt😃 yummy!!) I hope to come back to attend one of the winter events that Amelia recommended. Thanks again and I wish you all the best!

We stayed with Minette, Florian and their three lovely kids for about two weeks in July on their beautiful farm and another week at Florian’s parents’ ranch just across the road. From the first day, they welcomed us as part of their big family and even took us along to a local pub gathering. We learned so much, from feeding pigs, collecting eggs, driving quad, moving cows and fences, clearing fence lines with a chainsaw and weed wacker, to harvesting and drying hundreds of garlic plants and helping prepare the barn for a wedding. There was always plenty to do, but it was lots of fun! We also joined in family celebrations, spent sunny days swimming in the lake and tubing down the river, enjoyed great barbecues, and met many wonderful people. Carina even got to celebrate her birthday surrounded by everyone, which made it feel truly special. With fresh meat and amazing homemade sausages from the grandparents’ butchery, the food was another highlight. Thank you all for sharing your warm and active family life with us! It was an unforgettable time and we hope to see you again one day!

We spent almost 6 wonderful weeks in Mai-July with Peter, Brigitte and Helga who welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home after many months on the road. We enjoyed the delicious meals (and cookies!), fun evenings playing darts or Azul and the variety of tasks: from gardening to staining and chinking the cabin in Sayward, building frames or whitewashing wooden planks for interior use. In all this time we learned so much! Being able to use the car, tools and materials to built our own camper interior was a huge help. Wildlife encounters were a real highlight, from deer with their fawns and hummingbirds to elk, eagles and even a curious raccoon. And at home we spend a lot of time cuddeling with their sweet cats. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness! We hope to see you again and will keep in touch!

Leo stayed with us for two weeks at harvest time. He pitched in happily with whatever task was to hand: apple picking and storing, mucking out the animal sheds, harvesting potatoes, clearing weeds from the lake. He is strong and fit (his height was super handy for the apple picking!) and works well in a team. He fitted very well into our little community, bringing his kind-hearted nature to all interactions - even organising a couple of football kickarounds with the children here which they loved. Thoroughly recommended: he is a lovely man and would be an asset to any project. We wish him well on his travels and hope to see him again.

It was wonderful having Alex and Elsa here. The energy they brought to the house was so nice. They were very social and independent at the same time. Their help with the renovation was really good as Alex has a lot of building experience it was very helpful that he was assisting my friend. Besides that they cooked meals and help out where ever they could around the house. They take initiative and offer help but leave space to go about your own ways. I love it that we made music together. That they took time to draw and play games with the kids. And it was good that some days we all went our own way. They were a wonderful addition to our family and they will be missed. So we hope to see them come back some day For now we wish them all the best on their journey through Europe. JB was a great volunteer who got on well with the other volunteers and who loves working with a machete more than anything else! We will all miss him and I hope he has a great trip!

We loved hosting Dominik. He is super chilled but still has an excellent work ethic. He got through an impressive list of jobs while staying. Everything from chainsawing down privet, moving a huge pile of wood mulch, building a tall gate, cleaning & tidying our garage, line trimming grass, mowing grass, feeding lambs, feeding chickens, catching chickens, processing chickens, digging a ditch and filling it with stones to help with drainage, removing weeds, repairing a hole in a door sill. He seemed to really appreciate our lifestyle and often suggested ways he could help. Thankful of our meals and Chris' beer, Dominik was very easy to share out home with. If he was in a position to do workaway again I can 100% recommend hosts take him on. We wish him well with his time travelling and hope to see him again when he next passes by.

Giovanni! such a wonderful acquaintance, he is helpful, attentive, openminded, quick to understand the task and doesn’t hesitate til it’s done. Giovanni did a lot of repair things, he did gardening, build a bench in the workaway kitchen and had always very fine ideas how to solve the given task. We loved to have him here and send him the very best recommendations

We came with the intent to stay for 2 weeks, and ended up staying for 2 months! ✨️ Thank you LeAnne and Ian (Halo, Pip and Woody too!) for the most incredible time on the farm. As we came in the thick of calving season, we experienced it all - from watching calves be born to bringing them back to the shed and rearing them for the next few weeks before walking/ driving them to the outdoor paddocks where they had their freedom runs! Outside of working with the calves, we also joined in milking sessions, frolicked with lambs alot, watched the start of the next mating season, and even a homekill! We had plenty of time to explore many of the Taranaki sights, and LeAnne and Ian always made sure we made the most of good weather to explore. LeAnne and Ian were also always so generous with their knowledge and time (despite their long working hours!), and we learnt so much from them about calf rearing, working with cows, and running a working farm. We saw how much love, thought and effort (truly blood sweat and tears!) go into raising animals and ensuring they had top-notch care round the clock, which then produced happy animals and high-quality meat and dairy products. LeAnne made the most sumptious, hearty, homecooked kiwi meals with homegrown meat, and there was often also baking or kiwi lollies for dessert. Outside of that, we had alot of liberty in the kitchen, which is really well-stocked, so Hiroki tried many new recipes. There were also good conversations, lots of gratitude, boardgames, kiwi movies, naps, walks with dogs, and plenty of snuggles with calves. We left with our bodies strong, hearts and souls full, and hope to be back again! 💕

It was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have been happier. James, Sahra, Bertie, and Arabella are simply amazing — not to forget Mogul, the family dog. Everyone was unbelievably kind and welcoming. I was there on short notice, but they were so kind to have me, for which I am really grateful. I had an incredible time on the farm, which is unbelievably beautiful in itself. We had many interesting conversations, great hikes, and bike rides — which became one of the best experiences on my trip. The woodwork on the farm was very cool and fun. Personally, I loved it. James and Bertie are great teachers. It was also really fun to feed the animals and build a connection with them. It was a truly amazing experience, and I learned a lot. Thank you for this incredible time, it’s definitely left me with everlasting memories.

I spent two weeks at the farm in September – a perfect time to experience the transition from summer to autumn. It was a wonderful, enriching and inspiring experience. I enjoyed every part of it – from living in a cozy caravan and waking up with the sunrise to sharing lunches together out in the fields. Working with the soil felt like meditation to me, and synchronizing with the rhythm of nature really calmed my wandering mind. ;) My daily tasks included harvesting vegetables in the greenhouses, feeding the sheep, collecting eggs from the chicken house, planting, preparing boxes with crops for the community, picking fruit from the trees, packing and labeling farm products. They all allowed me to learn about biodynamic farming in my favorite way – by doing and asking questions along the way. Florian and Franz were great hosts, welcoming, open and always willing to share their stories, values and perspectives. They created a truly special place, both in terms of farming and community. I’m so happy they welcomed me together with my dog – having her by my side made my stay even more special. Danke schön, Flo & Franz!
I wish that everything on your farm – and in your lives – continues to grow and flourish. :)

I had an amazing experience at Victor’s place. His family is the most welcoming, eager to share about their lives and Salamanca, a place full of history and interesting stories. Thanks to them I learned a lot about Chile. The place is a dream, a well equipped house hidden in a beautiful valley surrounded by nature. If you love remote places with beautiful views and you like working independently, this is the place for you. Victor is running his project with a lot of passion so there is always things to around the house but you can also be creative with the way you want to contribute. You can spend your free time horse riding, hiking with the dogs or enjoying the quiet town of Salamanca. Thank you Victor for the beautiful experience!

Céline and Kodo were a wonderful addition to our family during the two and a half weeks they stayed with us. From the moment they arrived, they were warm, kind, and eager to help with anything we needed 🙌. They took on every task with enthusiasm — including painting one of the rooms in our house 🎨, which made such a beautiful and drastic change for us. Every time we walk into that room, it brings a smile to our faces knowing they left a permanent footprint here and something for us to always remember them by 💛. In addition to being hard workers, they were also so much fun! 😄 We loved our board game nights 🎲, the easy and genuine conversations about their lives back home and their adventures on the road 🌍, and the constant laughter that filled our home. Whenever we were busy, they could easily entertain themselves — always cheerful, creative, and full of good energy ☀️. They were so appreciative of the meals made for them🍲 and kind enough to share a few of their own delicious recipes with us 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳. We truly loved our pasta night together and their delicious crepes — both absolute highlights! 🍝🥞 They also bonded wonderfully with our little one 👶, who still mentions them often and lights up at the memory of their time here. And their sweet dog Esme 🐶 was a delight — calm, well-behaved, and easy going. All in all, hosting Céline and Kodo (and Esme!) was an absolute joy 💫. They left a beautiful mark on our home and our hearts ❤️. We wish them nothing but the very best in all their future adventures — and truly hope our paths cross again someday 🌈.

Celia has been so awesome to have at our house! She is great with kids - my son says she is the best ever to play with. She is an awesome cook, and she is very open to any jobs you need doing. She is kind and funny and fun to talk to, and I have loved exchanging languages and cultures with her. She's was my first Workaway experience, and it was such a positive experience.

Jule was an absolute joy to host. From the moment she arrived, she brought such warmth, curiosity, and a genuinely positive spirit to our home and community. She helped with childcare, gardening, and cooking — and approached each task with care, creativity, and initiative. Whether she was engaging the kids with patience and laughter, helping harvest vegetables, or preparing beautiful shared meals, Jule’s presence made every day brighter. She was also reliable, tidy, and thoughtful — someone you can completely trust to work independently or as part of a team. Beyond her work, she was simply a lovely person to have around: kind, easygoing, and full of good conversation. We felt an immediate connection and were honestly sad to see her go. Any host would be very lucky to welcome Jule — we can’t recommend her enough and hope she’ll come back someday!
