Ninon was an absolute pleasure to have stay with us. She’s cheerful, fun, and an all-around lovely person to have in the house — the kids adored her and still talk about her! She was a huge help at our cheese factory, always positive and willing to lend a hand wherever needed. She also took wonderful care of our dog Luna, walking her regularly and giving her lots of love. Ninon was the perfect house guest, respectful, easygoing, and great company. We’d welcome her back anytime.

Volunteers, welcome to the region’s best kept secret - Alto Monte Alvão!! An immersive rural experience away from the city, where tall buildings are replaced by majestic mountains, and noisy traffic is muffled by an eclectic family of dogs, cats, chickens and cows. Iara, a fantastic host, is a great team player who will accompany you throughout the journey, completing work alongside you and truly caring for volunteers’ well-being. Each day presents different tasks and activities, with refreshing variety and your own unique skills being utilised. We explored the region of Caeté, hiked and climbed Monte Alvão, with Iara guiding and inspiring us with her unique travelling stories, unparalleled work ethic, and ambitious mindset. We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Sophie and Finn for 4 amazing weeks here in Taltal, and what an incredible experience it was! From day one, they were super easygoing, funny, open-minded, and so professional in everything they did. Both are proactive, responsible, and always ready to help with a big smile. Finn is such an amazing guy — super intelligent! It’s always a joy to talk with him; he knows so much about everything. (He can even guess a country just by its shape — and he’s seriously good at it!) And Sophie — wow! She’s incredibly clever and sharp. Did you know she can name all the U.S. states in alphabetical order? She’s that smart! But beyond that, she’s kind, friendly, and a real pleasure to be around. We truly enjoyed every moment with them — you’ll not only get great help but also have so much fun together. They bring great energy wherever they go. Highly, highly recommended!

Ive been having a hard time finding words to describe my lovely time at Leticia and Sokratis' lovely, unique farm house. I can only strongly recommend this experience for anyone interested in taking some time to work with their hands and the ground, explore a lovely, quiet and remote area, have fascinating conversations with this special couple and the colorful friends and guests that show up in this house from time to time. Sokratis and Leticia both accepted me instantly into their home, we had a lovely time working with the beautiful animals and any fruit or vegetable I can think of, cooking and enjoying the fresh produce and exploring the town and area. I hope to come again!

Chanti, una chica joven espectacular, nos ayudo en la limpieza de nuestras chacras y tambien disfruto mucho de las montañas aqui, hizo el Nevado Mateo y la laguna 513 junto a los otros voluntarios. Además cocino una comida tipica vegetariana muy deliciosa. La pasamos bien en la fiesta local del pueblo y en una discoteca, baila muy bien. Le deseamos lo mejor, y esperamos vernos en Europa!

I stayed with Lee and his family for 2 weeks in October 2025 and had the most amazing time - thank you for having me! The family instantly made me feel very welcome and made sure to feed me very well during my stay - with plenty of traditional Korean food which id never eaten before - Lee's mother is an amazing cook. The work was really interesting, and could be busy at times, but Lee was very communicative when we were arranging the workaway and explained that this is a busy time of year for them, and there were also plenty of breaks and a long lunch. Tasks included picking chestnuts, sorting chestnuts and preparing the farm for end of harvest - bringing the nets in. It wasn't all just work though as I was lucky enough to be staying with them during the local Baekje cultural festival which Lee took us volunteers to several times - a really interesting way to learn about the history of the region, try new foods, and even see some K-pop and fireworks. The accommodation was good - volunteers stay with Lee's parents and I shared a room with another volunteer. Overall I had a great experience, and would love to return again in the future to see the farm and Cheongyang in a different season.

I had a wonderful two weeks staying here. It is easy to forget you are in Santiago while staying in this bubble of creative energy with a wonderful lush garden. But you are, and can be in the center quite quickly so it's also a great place to explore from. The projects depend on what is necessary, when I was there I mostly did work in the garden, some electrical work and a little bit of helping in the house (which mostly consisted of doing the dishes). The amount of work is very reasonable for the exchange and there is a lot of flexibility in when you spend the hours. Almendra is very sweet and does what she can to make sure your stay is comfortable. The family lives a healthy lifestyle so you can rest assured the meals you share will not only feed the body, but also the soul. For me the balance between spending time on my own and hanging out together was really good. She can be busy at times but when we spent time together we had some good talks. We also had a night where she would show me Chilean artists which was a nice way for me to get a little bit into the culture.

En Espanol : Pasé 3 semanas excelentes. El refugio está ubicado en el centro de la isla de Santa Cruz, 4 km antes del pueblo de Santa Rosa. Hay 35 perros y 7 gatos en el refugio (octubre de 2025). Todos tienen personalidades diferentes y son muy entrañables. Traigan su comida, la tienda más barata está en Bellavista. Hay dos habitaciones disponibles en el refugio para voluntarios; el baño es compartido y el agua de la ducha es fría. Edwin es la persona que trabaja todo el año y también vive allí. Es súper amable y me enseñó mucho, a pesar de mi bajo nivel de español. Logramos entendernos con la traducción. Gracias por todo y a Jheymi. Mucha suerte para el futuro y lo recomiendo al 100%. In English : I spent 3 amazing weeks. The place is located in the center of the island of Santa Cruz, 4km before the village of Santa Rosa. There are 35 dogs at the shelter and 7 cats (October 2025). They all have different personalities and they are very endearing. Bring your food, the cheapest store are in Bellavista. The house are 2 rooms available at the shelter for volunteers, the bathroom is shared and the shower water is cold. Edwin is the person who works year-round and who also lives there. He is super friendly and taught me a lot of things, despite my poor level of Spanish. We managed to understand each other with the translation. Thank you for everything and also to Jheymi. Good luck for the future and I recommend 100%.

Living with Tarla, David, and Leelou was a wonderful experience. The tasks were spread out evenly, but we spent most of our time outdoors in nature, which was so beautiful. I really appreciate the balanced atmosphere in their home. That's why I would return to this dreamlike island anytime to spend time with Tala and David.

Maho una chica muy especial, alegre y muy amorosa! Ella habla español muy bien, pudimos verla bailar, incluso se puso un traje local de aquí, de nuestro pueblo y se puso a bailar! Ella es tan amable que siempre todos van a quererla!!! Nos ayudo en la chacra y tambien en la casa, junto a los demas workawayers la pasamos muy bonito. Todos la extrañamos!

I spent a week at Zeze’s farm and had a truly wonderful time 🥰 It’s a spacious, peaceful place, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The main tasks include feeding the dogs and helping out in the kitchen when there are guests. Overall, the work is really light, and there’s plenty of free time to enjoy the surroundings. If you're interested in working with the horses, that’s definitely possible too, but you’ll need to ask, as Elmer usually takes care of them on his own. You can also go for a beautiful ride if you let them know in advance! Zeze was a fantastic host, always kind, helpful, and available when we needed anything. We even cooked together a few times, which was a lovely experience. The dogs were all incredibly sweet, and I already miss them so much. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm and rewarding farm stay.

Maria was amazing. She is proactive and know what needed to be done before I did. And amazing woman and not a lazy bone in her body. Her positive attitude made everybody around her smile. No wonder she has excellent all the way through. She has earned it. I can’t say enough things about her and hope one day she will return

Kinga i Michał to świetny zespół, wzajemnie sie uzupełniali i świetnie wykonywali powierzone im zadania. Nasz Natan 13 lat dzieki Michałowi zdał egzamin roczny z informatyki na 5, Kinga dzieki temu że zabrała trójkę naszych żywiołowych chłopców na kilka godzinny spacer do lasu, pomogła mi wykonać wiele czynności których z dziećmi nie dałbym rady. Pomagali wiele przy zwierzakach i byli bardzo otwarci na nowe rzeczy. Dziękujemy i zapraszamy ponownie 😊👋

Such a lovely couple. Very respectful, fun to work with and totally involved with the project. They brought such a positive actitud, eager to learn, to jump into any adventure or task. Suuuper clean. The kind of people you don’t need to show how to unpack the dishwasher hehe ;) Without them this event would have not been the same at all!! Charlotte was an angel in the right time. She works hard and always with a smile. We share conversations, meals and now a cute friendship plant;) Looking forward to see her again on her way back.

I thought I had already left my feedback. But something must have gone wrong, so I repeat my excellent experience with Jury who stood with us for about a fortnight in September. Jury did not only understand and fullfilled each and every task - even the unpleasent ones - with pacience and thoughtfulnes and brought them to a propper end, but was also one of the best companions we've had so far. His good will, humor, knowledge and wisdom makes him such a good entertainer that we could hardly find an end of talks and dicussions after dinner to separate for bedtime. We had endless joy and fun with him just as much as we sharished to discuss and exchange views in various fields of cultur, historie, pilosophy and politics. Without any dought we will keep him in our hearts and will hopefully stay in contact especially while he stays close in Berlin. For his future we wish him nothing but the best and recomend him warmly to any other host he may want to widen his experience with.

I got the Chance to spend three incredible weeks with Arjan. But I have to admit this place and the talks with Arjan made my workaway experience to one of the best and definitely most memorable ones. Arjan is such a good listener, who really is interested in your story and who you can easily have conversation with by talking about everything. He is a very inspiring guy with a lot of stories to tell. Especially the deep talks next to the fire were great. Next to the work in his house by doing gardening some painting or household chores his lovely chickens and his cat have to be fed. He is such a creative man with a mind full of ideas for his projects. And he is a great singer by the way. I would recommend this place to everybody who wants to combine garden and construction work with a calm athmosphere in the mountains. He likes to show you other places around as well and if your are lucky you should not miss the nights in Pigna when people celebrate outside a Pizzeria and dance together. Being also able to attend his retreat, was an life changing experience for me. So if you look for answers to some personal questions, Arjan and his house are the perfect spot. Or if you only want to focus on yourself and do not work, then join privately his retreat. Hartelijk bedankt and see you next time! :)

Claire was wonderful to have with us. She is responsible, helpful, and great with the dogs. She fit right into the rhythm of the daily shelter tasks and contributed good vibes to the team. She would be an asset to any project.
