Xena was here for more than a week, interrupted by two days in Tavira. So we worked together in two blocks of several days. It was very pleasant and productive. We were able to finish some garden projects and start others. As a teacher and athlete, Xena brought good energy and responsibility with her. Our conversations were very informative for me, as they gave me a little insight into the world of Generation Z. Overall, it was a very pleasant and fruitful experience. I wish Xena interesting encounters and insights on her further journey.

I spent three weeks volunteering at this place under the wonderful guidance of Ceci and Sabrina. From day one, I was welcomed into an environment that truly feels magical — a place full of compassion, dedication, and purpose. During my time there, I helped with the daily care of the dogs and puppies, including feeding, cleaning, and grooming. I also assisted in rescuing dogs found on the roadside and helping them adjust to their new, safe surroundings. One of the most rewarding experiences was helping prepare dogs for their journeys to new homes in Canada, ensuring they were ready and cared for before their flights. I was fortunate to assist during a local conference, where I helped introduce puppies to visitors and support fundraising efforts for the shelter. Additionally, I spent time assisting in the surgery room and in the post-recovery area — an incredible opportunity to learn and contribute to the dogs’ healing process. Ceci and Sabrina, are some of the most dedicated and welcoming people I’ve met. The accommodation provided is comfortable and sufficient, complete with a kitchen and all you need during your stay. This is a truly special place — beautifully located and filled with heart. If I’d had more time, I would have gladly stayed longer. For anyone considering volunteering with animals, this is the perfect place to do it. You’ll learn, contribute, and leave knowing you’ve made a real difference. Big love to Ceci, Sabrina, Fernanda + of course Otto! 😇

It’s hard to find the right words to do my wonderful stay with Robin and Sally justice, but I’ll try my best! I feel very grateful to have spent four lovely days on their beautiful property and to have experienced their warm hospitality. The accommodation was perfect, the little cottage is absolutely charming, and I really enjoyed having my own cozy space for a few days. The work was varied, engaging, and very enjoyable. Being outdoors on their land was a pleasure and brought me so much joy (I was lucky with mostly sunny days!), and I loved learning about gardening, plants, birds and so much more. The instructions were always clear and thoughtful, and both Robin and Sally were happy to answer all my questions, which helped me learn a lot. We shared the most delicious meals — they are truly amazing cooks — often prepared with produce from their own garden, which made every meal feel special. I also deeply appreciated the inspiring and wide-ranging conversations we had, learning about their travels, work in education, creative interests, and many other fascinating topics. The days flew by far too quickly, and I’m already looking forward to visiting them again in the future. Thank you both for taking such good care of me!

Manuel is the one who will give you the objective view on everything. Whenever you are looking for objective ultimate truth, Manu is the guy to go to. Even when it comes to body building competitions. Or jams (tasting). Or cooking (cooking and eating). Or weeding. Manu stayed with us for a while, so he got to meet quite a few volunteers. And also Lays the cat (AKA "Madame") got used to him. They would watch birds together for hours: Manu with some binoculars, and Lays with her own eyes. Manu is one of those people who can get along with folks from different cultures and backgrounds. He is gentle, kind, and hard-working. And also loves a good laugh, a cool beer (we only had alcohol-free...sorry) and a great hike to the lake. So much so, that he managed to do this walk as a morning activity. And also swim in the rapidly-chilling lake. We also got lucky when his brother came to visit (and stayed to help a bit). There were many dinners, many conversations, many walks and much conviviality. He also helped me with a village fête, selling jewelry and jams. And he immersed himself in the French language which he so loves as much as possible. The one issue was that with all his wisdom and teaching experience, Manu could not manage to teach Callum how to pronounce some useful German words. Thank you so much for everything, Manu! You know you are welcome to join again whenever you want! Lays is keeping all the dead mice and lizards for you! And birds too!!!!!

Laurene and Aimè were amazing hosts, and really made us feel at home! We worked together on building mud walls, and bamboo beds. They're amazing vegetarian cooks too, and very helpful with tips and insights on things to do and see. We even shared a quite interesting ride to Santa Marta on the muddy road, but Laurene knows how to drive and we arrived safe and sound :) Thanks!

Danielle and Noah- where to begin with only positive things to say about them both as a couple and individually. Words don't do their work ethics justice in how professional, extremely hard working, productive, time efficient + always going that extra mile and the results were always a job more than well done. They even voluntarily worked overtime to get a job finished. My home interior has never looked so spotless (light switches included!) with my newly painted fence and freshly mown grass all looking very professional. Thank you so much Danielle and Noah! Their vibrant yet calm, kind, always smiling, respectful and relaxed presence was always appreciated. We had many interesting and thoughtful conversations and laughs during their stay. With 11 extended family members of mine having a potluck dinner at my home during their stay, Danielle and Noah were a big hit amongst my family also. I’m not surprised! I look forward to hosting you both as friends (no work required :D ) before you depart NZ in the new year. All the best Danielle and Noah, may your adventurous sunny selves continue to flourish in all that you have to offer this world of ours. I 110% highly recommend Danielle and Noah to other hosts.

I had the absolute pleasure of hosting Millie for a week through Workaway, and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment she arrived, Millie brought a wonderful energy, curiosity, and kindness into every space she entered. She eagerly jumped into assisting in my classes, offering thoughtful support to the students and bringing a genuine warmth that made everyone feel comfortable and encouraged. Millie’s enthusiasm, adaptability, and positive attitude made her an absolute joy to have around. She showed incredible dedication, always ready to help, and her presence brightened both the classroom and our home. I am deeply grateful for her time, her help, and the wonderful spirit she shared with us. Any host would be lucky to have Millie, and I wholeheartedly recommend her for any opportunity she pursues.

I spent two weeks here for the olive harvest and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Stefano and Angela are the kindest people and made my stay in Sicily amazing. I stayed in the caravan outside the main house and it was very cozy with a great view of the sunrise from bed. They always made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The work was enjoyable and I never felt pressured to do more than I could handle. Their property is beautiful, with so many fruits and vegetables grown, and they will give you great recommendations for things to do in the surrounding area. I definitely miss spending time here; great meals and great company in a beautiful location. Stay with them if you have the chance!

For someone looking for an English teaching experience, this opportunity is really perfect. I stayed in a comfortable apartment in a good location in Florencia. It is on the same street as the English Academy, and close to the downtown which has anything you could need. The academy is a well organised institute, with many students. Most are teenagers or young adults, with some students less than 12 or in their late 20s. Everyone is very keen to learn from you, which is a great feeling. I received invites from students and teachers to do various activities: in the river, going out for dinner, playing volleyball/football/pool. This filled a lot my free time, but there is still spare time in your day. I recommend the experience highly, for someone looking for this type of experience.

We had been chatting with Liam for a while before he came over, and when he did, we already felt he was already part of the team. An open, kind person, Liam feels totally at ease in all weather conditions and with all tasks. He did a lot of weeding, working with the veg both outside and in the big greenhouse, and helping with some big end of summer cleanups. Liam was actually with us during the transition time from end of summer to early fall, so his experience with plants was very helpful. Liam also explored the wonderful nature around us. He is an expert in forestry. During his walks in our forests, he kindly pinpointed some dead trees so we could remove them. Liam was much liked by the other volunteers at the farm, took some great walks with them and even managed to practice some of his French (not always easy with everyone around speaks English). We would love to have him stay in touch with us.... for now we are getting photos and share updates on some funny vegetables (yeah yeah... some funny looking natural creations do happen), as well as photos of other helpers that he knows. This is all part of the community. We had some great laughs together! Come back and visit!!!!

Oliver spent almost a month with us here at the ANS. He was always eager to help us with the classes, he planned activities to help students foster the communicative skills and enjoyed leading classes. He is a responsible professional, with an advanced level of Spanish proficiency. We consider he would be a great asset to any project or organization related to education. We wish you the best, for your future endeavors.

Staying with William, Laura and the kids was an amazing time I would recommend to anyone hoping to reconnect with nature and themselves. We almost always had the option to socialize and talk philosophy if we wanted, while also being able to find solitude down by the creek or in the neighbor's grape fields if we needed quieter moments. Everyone here was a great personality to get to know, and I was thoroughly charmed by the breadth of life experience from all present. Not to mention the love they all share and extend to their guests :,)

My apologies for my late feedback to Jay. I spent 15 days in his warm little house in Teotitlán del Valle, a charming town like Jay, a very kind, caring, and gentlemanly person. Jay, I wish you the best in the world. When I return to Teotitlán, I'll let you know so I can come see you and walk around this town full of culture and magic again. In the meantime, take care of yourself. It was a pleasure meeting you. You are a great friend and always will be. Thank you so much for everything. A big hug, and I wish you the best in the world. Tell your children to always come see you. Mila :)

My time at this place was so cool! Meghann and Ryan are really friendly and I learned so much new stuff during my stay. Mostly me and the other workawayer did firewood and prepared the property for winter. During my days off I spent much time hiking and going to the national park. Also Meghann and Ryan took me and the other workawayer on a rafting tour one day which was really cool. The last day Ryan even took us on a shooting ranch! All in all I think grew so much and got so many new impressions. I hope I can visit Meghann, Ryan, Benji and Margaret again one day!

I stayed with them for three weeks in August this summer. It was my first workaway experience, so I was very nervous, but I have to say that thanks to all the volunteers and the wonderful people who work at the stables, they made me feel at home. The town of Milton Keynes where I stayed is quiet and perfect for getting around England by train or bus. In just three weeks, with every Saturday and Sunday free, I managed to see London, Cambridge, and Oxford, and all the wonderful parks and green spaces of Milton Keynes. The work is tiring, yes, but truly very rewarding. They teach you everything there, they are welcoming and good, and they helped me a lot with my English—great emotional and loving support. Thank you for the wonderful experience you gave me. Best regards, Lavinia, from Italy.❤️

........................................................................ It's been a pleasure volunteering at this place. I was there for a month, and during that month, I learned a lot. That's because Allan organized the time for us to do something different every day, so I was never bored. The volunteer house has some basic foods like flour and sugar, and I really enjoyed experimenting with making dishes from scratch. There isn't much to do in the neighborhood, so I didn't mind taking the time to do so. I also needed to buy some things like vegetables and protein sources to have more diversity in my diet. It's over an hour's walk to the nearest supermarket, so it would be nice to have a bike at the farm. Another thing I would change would be to remove the camera from the common area of the volunteer house. I guess it's for safety, but I felt a little uncomfortable and observed by the camera. The atmosphere with the other volunteers was very pleasant, and I'm grateful for the pleasant moments we shared with the other volunteers, Allan, his partner, and her daughter. Thanks for everything, and see you next time!
