great workaway, lovely hosts and especially amazing family! very good communication and location is beautiful

This was my first experience with Workaway, and it turned out to be a great one. Fabien facilitates communication and is hospitable. It makes things much easier and is appreciated. He made sure to speak French, and even though we didn't share common points of view, it was enriching to get to know him and how a true French person lives. I learned a lot about gardening, how to take care of a pool, even politics. He's highly recommended. Je vous recommade de rencontrer Fabien!

Mercedes est une hôte très accueillante et attentionnée, toujours prête à aider et à échanger tout en respectant parfaitement notre intimité/temps personnels. La maison est très grande et magnifique, entourée de nature, avec deux chiens et un chat. On mange très bien (plutôt cuisine traditionnelle, pas végétarienne) et les horaires sont bien respectés. Les tâches sont variées : entretien du terrain, petites réparations, plantations, nettoyage au karcher, vernissage, etc. Il y a aussi eu la construction d’un chenil en bois. Les moutons occupent la propriété (ainsi que quelques serpents suivant la saison) C’est un endroit idéal si vous aimez le calme, la nature et prendre du temps pour vos projets personnels. L’endroit est isolé (environ 25 minutes du terminal de bus de Rocha) À noter aussi : ne pas venir spécialement pour les chevaux, ou en tout cas bien en parler avec Mercedes avant, ils vivent en troupeaux dans les 50 hectares de la propriété et ne sont pas facilement manipulables. Enfin nous n’avons pas su correctement partager de moments pleinement conviviaux avec la famille.

Mladen and his family welcomed me warmly from the very first day. Thanks to them, I had the chance to explore the center of Podgorica, the beach, and other beautiful spots in the area. The place itself is very peaceful and a little outside the city, making it perfect for disconnecting, enjoying nature, and going on walks. There’s also a bus that passes by every hour (but there's not in Sunday). The tasks were simple and varied, from helping clean the rooms and assisting with guest hospitality, to some farm work like feeding the chickens or helping Mladen with the land by cutting trees. Mladen’s sense of humor is quite unique and intense, so it’s something to keep in mind. I recommend this place to anyone looking to disconnect from the city and enjoy a calm, welcoming environment.

Ante is a good hearted, clever and funny person. We enjoyed our time on the island and laughed a lot with the group. What we liked most about the work was the change of scenery as Ante took us to different places to harvest on the island. Ante has ambitious plans for the future and we wish him all the best making them come true :)

Wir verbrachten 2,5 Wochen mit Astrid & Chris, Max & Sina und ihren Hunden, Katzen, Hühnern, Pferden UND dem Affen. Als Workawayer hat man es hier sehr entspannt. Der anstrengendste, aber auch schönste Teil der Arbeit ist der Affe. Er treibt einen in den Wahnsinn – man lernt schnell, dass nichts vor ihm sicher ist. Aber wenn er abends auf deiner Schulter einschläft, schließt man ihn sofort ins Herz. Tägliche Aufgaben wie das Füttern der Hühner, das Sauberhalten des Grills und des Pools sowie das Laubfegen sind schnell erledigt. Natürlich gibt es immer auch andere Aufgaben: Manchmal wird Marmelade gekocht, manchmal muss der Hühnerstall gründlich gereinigt werden, und wenn man sich mit Fahrzeugen auskennt, kann man Chris immer in der Werkstatt helfen. Chris & Astrid sind unglaublich freundliche und sympathische Menschen, die einem viel Freiheit bei der Arbeit und im Umgang miteinander lassen. Sie haben das Herz am rechten Fleck! Die gemeinsamen Abende waren wirklich schön und fanden oft mit anderen Gästen statt. Ein eigenes kleines Häuschen im Garten mit eigenem Bad und Astrids Koch- und Backkünsten ist ein echter Luxus! Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit mit euch, vielen Dank :-)!

My time on the farm was unforgettable. Rarely have I fallen so in love with a place and the people around it! From the very first moment, I felt at home and enjoyed working on the farm and spending time in nature. Living with Gabriel and the other Workawayers was very pleasant. Food was always tasty. Communicating with Gabriel is very easy, and the conversations we had over dinner or a cup of tea were incredibly inspiring and informative. There is so much to learn from him! The farm is surrounded by beautiful places and views. Going to the lake became a ritual. Helen came by once a week and it always felt like Christmas because she brought lots of clothes, croissants and jams. I also got to spend a day with her at a market and experience her excellent sales skills. The work in the field and the Greenhouse (harvesting, field maintenance and planting) was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Thank you Gabriel, Helen and all the other Workawayers for this unique experience. À la prochaine!

I've had a great stay with Snædis, Stefan and the kids in the heart of Reykjavik. I stayed 7 weeks in total and it was mine and their first Workaway experience (but I worked as an Au Pair before). It's three kids, so expect a full house and always something going on. It's barely ever quiet, but there is never a dull moment and always fun! The daughter is an absolute sweetheart, she's so lovely and mature and helped me a lot with her two brothers (especially with translating as she speaks good English). The boys are really nice and sweet as well. They are kids, so of course they might throw a tantrum, but they will also run happily to you and give you a hug when you pick them up from kindergarden 😊 The work is fairly easy and mainly some hours after school/kindergarden with the kids (pick ups, after school activities, playing with them etc) and some light household duties during the day (emptying the dishwasher, tidying up a bit etc). Additionally maybe some babysitting in the evening every now and then. The weekends I mainly used to explore the beautiful country. One weekend I had the opportunity to join the host grandparents for a trip to the North - amazing! Thanks for having me!

Gail was a gracious host and generous with her knowledge of farming, tending to livestock, and PNW natural lore. Her plot is amazing with views of the Olympic mountains range, and any workawayer would enjoy some time spent here. The animals also welcomed me to the pack and gave me quite a few belly laughs as they're a might naughty sometimes, in a good way. Anyone working here will likely enjoy the memories. Plenty of organic food, homegrown, fresh eggs, and good times.

Marko was a pleasure to have help us . He was willing to do any task and applied himself 100%. His knowledge and practical thinking were very useful and he was keen for anything. We worked well together and he was completely capable doing things on his own. I enjoyed his company and work ethic and can highly recommend him

Veronika and Rudi are a lovely couple and their children are really well behaved and a pleasure to be around. Our kids loved the time spent with them! Rudi is very handy and capable of many things, Veronika is hard working and a lovely lady. We really enjoyed the time they were here and wish them all the best on their travels!

We stayed with Pam and her lovely boy for about a week and had a really pleasant time. Pam’s finca is absolutely beautiful — surrounded by nature, calm, and the perfect place to relax and unwind. We even had a whole house to ourselves, which made our stay very comfortable. We shared most meals with Pam and her son and often cooked together, while breakfast we usually prepared on our own. During the week, we mainly spent time with her boy — playing, keeping him entertained, and helping out around the house. Her son is a bright, energetic, and curious little boy who loves to play and interact! We ended up spending more hours at the house with her son than we had originally expected, which might also have been because Pam was sick at the time and needed some extra help. We also realized that we hadn’t clearly discussed the daily schedule when we arrived. Pam made sure we felt welcome and comfortable, and we had some lovely conversations together. Overall, it was a warm and lively experience. If you prefer a more structured routine or fixed working hours, this might not be the perfect fit — but if you enjoy spending time with kids and being part of a family’s daily life in a beautiful setting, you’ll have a wonderful time here.

We are truly grateful that Laura spent time volunteering here. As a native speaker, she taught English at our primary school, and the children loved her. Thank you again for the great time I had :) The whole family was incredibly welcoming and I felt at home really quickly. I enjoyed the calmness of the work and the surroundings a lot and one day I will definitely come back!

We stayed with Tom and Elena for 12 days right before winter. They were amazing hosts, fully organized and they gave us delicious, fresh and nutritious meals everyday. They both went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help us out in any way possible. Tom is super straight forward with everything and as long as you're honest and clear with him, the relationship will be a good one. Their house is a little piece of heaven and if you have the chance to help them out, you will leave their place with a great experience. Thank you again Tom and Elena for everything, we wish you the best and we hope our paths cross again someday.

We had a great experience being volunteers here for 5 weeks. We had a wonderful experience with the staff and the fellow students; all were really kind, welcoming and fun to be around. We worked 5-6 hours a day so not the 3 hours as described in the profile. Regardless we had a really good experience and the activity's we were hosting for the students were usually a lot of fun. We really appreciated the opportunity to learning Spanish two hours a day and woulden't have had it any other way. Nicole lived and worked here for several months, and their contribution was exceptional. From the beginning, Nicole demonstrated a proactive and engaged approach to the project. Rather than asking, “What’s the minimum I need to do?”, they consistently went above and beyond expectations — bringing both insight and productivity to every aspect of their work. In particular, Nicole showed remarkable initiative in areas that aligned with their passions. When something resonated with them, they invested additional energy and creativity, often leading to visible and lasting improvements in the project. Their enthusiasm and follow-through elevated the quality of the work for everyone involved. Beyond their direct contributions, Nicole became an active and valued member of our local community. They participated in neighborhood potlucks, volunteered in community projects, and helped strengthen social connections within our area. Even now, months later, neighbors still ask how Nicole is doing — a testament to the positive impact they had during their stay. Overall, hosting Nicole was an absolutely wonderful experience. They approached both work and community life with authenticity, care, and purpose. If I had to summarize their time here in one sentence, I would say that Nicole truly lives in alignment with the values they represent. Their presence here not only benefited our project but also inspired personal reflection and growth in those around them. I would enthusiastically recommend Nicole to any future hosts — their integrity, initiative, and community spirit make them an outstanding WorkAway volunteer.

The days with Ondra flew so fast: we are very grateful we had him with us. He was our first Workawayer and we enjoyed every day as friends, he helped us a lot with a lot of different tasks... He was always enthusiast and hard working, the time together was great! We highly recommend Ondrej also because he is very respectful and Cezch culture is very interesting! J'ai reçu Malena pour quelques jours de jardinage à la maison. Tout a été bien fait comme demandé, elle n'a pas peur d'apprendre. C'est une femme solaire et sensible avec qui il est très agréable d'échanger. Elle m'a expliquer beaucoup de choses concernant l'astrologie et nous avons échangé avec une grande confiance. I had the chance to introduce Juliette to my daughter Meryem and my students, and we spent a few wonderful days together. At the science fair, my students guided her around the technology stands, and she even joined us at our own stand, helping out and supporting the team. We also enjoyed an Old Town tour and visited several museums. She is not only very successful in her profession but also cultured and truly warm-hearted. She connected with my students so well — it was a very special experience for all of us.
