Our family had the pleasure of staying with Ruben, Marta, Roger and Arnau for 2 weeks. Our girls are the same age as Roger and Arnau and they really enjoyed spending time together. The whole family made us feel welcome straight away, including us in their activities, cooking us fantastic dinners, sharing information about Cardedeu and Barcelona, and even organising for our girls to visit the local schools. We agreed on the work required at the start of our stay and Ruben and Marta were very flexible with how we managed our time. They were very generous throughout our time in Cardedeu, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend this workaway to anyone wanting a cultural experience close to Barcelona.

Florian and Christiane was great hosts with a lot of knowledge on farming! We felt that we learned a lot, even though we only had a short stay of two weeks. It was our first workaway, and we were happy that we chose this place. He had a lot of different tasks for us so it was not boring at all, and the family was very welcomming. They had quite late dinners, so for us it was easier to cook by ourselves in a nice kitchen they had downstairs.

Paolo was super accommodating and kind from the very first meeting. I really loved the area, the town and the accommodation was super comfy. You can easily immerse yourself into swiss culture as you work with people completing their civil service. The work itself can be quite physical from time to time, but your work schedule is very flexible and Paolo always tries to comply(always worked for me) with requests you have. I recommend everyone to go here it's really fun and you will see a sode of switzerland not many people will experience:)

If a host is looking for workers to accompany their children, Francesca and Giovanni are highly recommended. Francesca brings a lot of artistic creativity and Giovanni can make kids laugh until they cannot stop anymore. They both have a natural ability to connect with kids that is really amazing. Not having the same language, they still had a lot of fun with our daughter and she is so sad, that they had to leave. The both of them also did every task they were given very nicely, they were able to work independently and also we did a lot of work together. From gardening, to animal care to renovations, they were happy to do anything they were asked to. They have been respectful with our animals and connected good with them. They were always communicating well and we are happy we met them. We would always invite them back to stay with us.

I stayed with Jethro for a few weeks over two months ago. We still message back and forth about life, love, meditation, reading, and writing. That should give an idea of the connection I made with Jethro. In a way I am biased, because I feel unusually like a soul-relative of his rather than someone who simply appreciated a workaway experience. About the workaway: Jethro is incredibly clear and fair about start and end times for work, and will happily interrupt you with tea-breaks as you work. For me it was mostly weeding and yard maintenance. Good, simple stuff. But on the backside we have Jethro. Extraordinary naturalist: took me immediately from the bus-stop to picnic and see whale-sharks flipping off the coast for a few hours. We went snorkelling in a river. We wandered all over the Burren and the coast, which Jethro may have a right to knowing better than almost anyone. Philosopher's spirit: widely read, intrigued in maintaining a meditation practice, interested in basically all perspectives on life and in talking about them with intense curiosity. Artist, Romantic, Rascal: a funny chap always willing to laugh (and try southern biscuits and gravy!) He has a strong connection to music. Many old and rare blues, jazz, folk vinyls always playing. When I visited he was taking voice lessons and we sang some Townes Van Zandt and gospel (as sinners) together. He has a slow and lyrical heart and is in touch with the absurdity of life and not taking himself and all of his and the world's mistakes too seriously. Here's what I recommend to you other than letting Jethro show you a good time: as much as you can, as quickly as you can, guide him in the wholesome practices you love: meditation, art, music, etc.. I felt like halfway through my visit I wished we had meditated more together but I was hesitant to suggest imposing any kind of schedule. I think he is open to this sort of thing and would like some healing and exploration play-mates. Thanks Jethro. We will be in touch, aye ya dog? J

I spent a month here with these two excellent fellas (Owen and Mark,) their kitchen staff, and one other workawayer. It was a treat to work with the birds and do my best to help build some winter insulation from wood and some concrete work. Owen is an incredibly easygoing teacher--he was not only patient when Elaina or I were struggling to perform some task--he would actually take the time to teach it to us, making sure we felt comfortable. Oxton is a quaint town, so if you go, you had better like birds or quaintness. Owen was also incredibly generous and flexible in when we could take time off (to hit Edinburgh or Glasgow). So make sure to take care of him because he works too hard. Although he does like it. Owen, you're an inspiring person. Thanks for the experience in Scotland. A lifetime of happiness to you, Mark, the birds, and co. Jake

We call him the Clint Eastwood of Volunteering. If Pete says he can and will do something for you it will happen, with no fuss nor hassle. He is simply the best volunteer we have hosted amongst 100´s . Pete is hard working, highly intelligent, very skilled, highly self motivated, totally reliable and honest. He is also polite, diplomatic and tactful. He is very aware interpersonally and sensitive to people no matter their age, gender etc... He is absolutely a pleasure to be with. And of course everything else written in the Feedbacks below is so true. With love, Francis & Helen, Ordis.

Thank you Daniel, Coco, Alejandra, Ilya, and everyone! The actual location is gorgeous, on many acres of mountain woodland. Everyone was welcoming, funny, and dedicated to food. This was absolutely the best food experience of my life. For that alone, I recommend it to anyone. This operation seems to me like the sort of thing many people are aiming at: a community without a rigid ideology, and where privacy is respected. We picked chestnuts all day (and sometimes roasted them at night.) These are some wonderful folks. Thank you, guys. (Your food is much better than Florence.)

I spent 2 weeks full of good experiences at the beautiful Farm.Emma and Robbie are incredibly kind and give a home to so many people from different places. Whether friends, relatives or strangers, everyone feels accepted here. I had a really good time with nice and warm hearted people and lovely animals. I hope many more people will be allowed to be your guests, I wish you the best for your garden and building projects and cultural exchanges.

I stayed at the farm for a month and it was a great experience, takeoff care of the pigs the chicken and helping around was a really good time. Marlène and Hervé are really nice people taking care of your needs making sure you got everything. Time spent there is really good for getting away from cities breathe fresh air and spend time outside. The place is really pretty work is not too hard and the little mobile home is a great spot. I enjoyed my time there and would recommend 100% if you want to learn a little about farm work.

I stayed at the monastery for two months. My interest in Buddhism grew every day. I had the chance to learn and talk with the nuns regularly. At first, it was hard to be alone. But little by little, I learned to use that solitude to reconnect with myself. Meditation helped a lot but I realized it’s not enough. Mindfulness must be practiced in every moment. The daily tasks were simple and pleasant. It was always a pleasure to help and contribute to the community. I also loved exploring the area and spending time with the nuns and other volunteers. Thank you for this beautiful experience !

Vamos Locos!

I stayed a few weeks at this Workaway this autumn and very much enjoyed the experience. The work can be quite hard, leveling the ground, harvesting dirt with a pickaxe, mixing the dirt with water (and sometimes watering the plants), but it was super cool to see this traditional way of making bricks and all the steps that are necessary. The food was always good and plentiful. It was nice experiencing the real Moroccan food and way of eating. Joudy and Abdelghafour are very kind; I especially enjoyed playing board games or going on trips with Joudy. It was also fun to visit the (giant) local market, climb the hill behind the house for some internet connection, or see how traditional Moroccan bread is made. I am excited to see how the project turns out! Thank you for having me!

I spent roughly 3 weeks at this Workaway this autumn. And I have to say that Silvia is one of the nicest hosts I've met so far. She is hospitable, attentive, and kind. I had a lot of fun staying here playing card games or at the cultural evenings, playing with the dogs, doing some trips with Silvia and another Workawayer, or visiting the beach that's easy to get to by bike. The work consisted of gardening stuff, like mowing the grass, picking apples, getting outdoor furniture ready for winter, or cooking a lot of applesauce and apple jam. Thank you very much for having me!

Our stay with Francis and his family was wonderful. From the very first moment, they made us feel at home. They showed us incredible places like the hidden beach, gave us precise directions to visit Yalikavak, Bodrum, and the island of Kos. They made delicious typical Turkish meals and much more. We loved spending three weeks with this incredible family. Next time we'll try to spend more time together. Big hug!!! Carla and Ángel.

I took my time trying to find the right words, but they just don’t exist. Even though I only stayed for four weeks, this experience truly changed me. I found my path and the peace I’d been searching for in my life. Sunny, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for every single moment we shared. You’re an incredible woman, full of laughter, kindness, and never stressed. You’ve built so many beautiful things around you, and I know you’ll keep going. Working for you was pure joy, fun, and unforgettable. A huge thank you to your dad Rick (and those magical campfire nights), to all your animals (the dogs, the horses, and of course the donkey), and to your whole family. I’ll never forget a single thing… not even the metal saw. You’ll always be in my heart. See ya.

I’m always anxious about new volunteers, especially very young ones. And then came Saskia, a lovely 20 year old with the maturity and work ethic of a seasoned animal carer and dedicated volunteer. She jumped into action the second she arrived and never slowed down once. But she wasn’t just a hard worker, she was a fantastic animal carer, a great team player, a brilliant maker of banana bread, and a wonderful addition to my family. A great new friend. When she left to attend university in Canberra, she came back by bus to help on the very next weekend. That was crazy. But it was beautiful, and a true reflection of the type of person that Saskia is. Saskia is coming back again, and I am so happy that I will get to see her once more. Saskia is fantastic.

Will stayed with us in July and August 2024 then he came back this year in Septembre till mid october. He taught spoken English to several classes from Grade 6 to 12. At the beginning, he was a bit struggling to lead lessons fitting the level of the students but he learns quickly. Will went on one week vacation with my family and he was very flexible and adapted himself easily with our way of life. He becomes like one of my kids. He is very cool and open, he is also respectful of our culture. We laughed a lot together, and my little boy, 5 y o, loves playing with him. We can discuss things deeply or just talk about anything. I also love that he tries to learn our language and he learns quickly. Will is very friendly so he mingles with people individually and with group of people easily. He came back this year and his way of teaching has improved a lot.I am grateful he came back. Will is well loved by all the students and they were sad when Will is leaving. I highly recommend Will if you need a volunteer especially in English teaching, and think he can call himself a very good English language teacher now and our door is widely open to him whenever he wants to come back.
