I really enjoyed Jamie's company and help over the week and a bit that he stayed. Like me, he is relatively quiet and self-contained, but he evidently enjoyed sessions with Sam and Tye who were also here as Workaway guests. Jamie is clearly a bright guy who observes the world with a thinking eye. I appreciated his close interest in the sustainability and growing initiatives that I am trying to imbue in this project. It is easy to imagine him doing something similar himself one day. His enthusiasm for the undertaking was reflected in his commitment to helping and he put a good effort into the mulching, transplanting, digging and weed control tasks that he undertook. Another thing that I enjoyed in Jamie is his interest in the natural world and getting out on foot to explore. I really hope that he realises his ambition to walk a decent portion of the Te Araroa route whilst here Thanks for all your help, Jamie. Hope your girlfriend manages to join you.

One of the most wonderful experiences of my life... the Sunims are extremely kind, helpful and good teachers. The food is superb. And the work is enjoyable. I highly recommend you go there! Thank you again for your hospitality and for the wonderful moments we spent together ❤️❤️❤️❤️🫶

A pleasure to have had Sam join me for about 10 days, alongside Tye and Jamie who were also here as Workaway guests. My sense of Sam is that he is a deep thinker and that he has a big heart. He carries these qualities quietly, so it took a few days to get a feeling for his way of being. He is a friendly and thoughtful guy who seemed to be as comfortable being independent as socialising with the other men staying. On the work front, I was impressed with the effort that he devoted, particularly as someone who normally enjoys a more relaxed life than comes with helping to improve a reasonable area of land, as I am attempting. There were a few times where he put in a bit of extra time to complete a task and he gladly launched himself into the activities happening, even though some were a bit demanding. He helped to move quite a bit of mulch, did some timber staining, planted comfrey roots and spread fertiliser as his contribution. He also topped up some of my raised beds and planted up one of them on the eve of his departure (plans already growing well) Thanks for your help, Sam. Lorraine and Jack have created a dynamic environment where education, building, and fun are at the forefront. Jack knows a lot about everything, and I enjoyed playing basketball with him and the kids after a work day. Awesome place and people and am grateful for the experience

Estuvimos 45 dias en la casa de Mariza, un lugar muy acogedor y comodo. Estando ahí tuvimos la posibilidad de experimentar la cultura local de Aruba. Leo, el perro, es muy amigable y fácil de querer, obediente y tranquilo. Salíamos a caminar todos los dias por la zona que es hermosa, con paisajes llenos de cactus, y muy cerca de la casa y llena de senderos para explorar. No conocimos a Mariza personalmente, pero ella nos acompañó todo el tiempo con consejos acerca de que hacer en la isla, atenta a nuestra estadia y disponible para lo que necesitemos. Volveríamos una y mil veces a su casa, a Aruba y por supuesto a pasear con Leo, que lo extrañamos. Mariza: eternamente agradecidos.

We were happy to host Laura and Ida for one week. Mainly, we did some gardening all together and one morning we went to our orchard 😎. These lovely girls were very kind and quiet, enjoying our deck with their favorite activity: knit with colorful yarn 😍. Last evening, they cooked a delicious Danish meal which we enjoyed so much ! Highly recommended to host them. Thanks again for spending time with us girls.

Tye joined me for three weeks, not long after he arrived in the country. He's a very chill bloke who is friendly, adaptable and fits in well with others - he soon established a strong report with the two other guys that overlapped with much of his time here. It was good to have a few small construction jobs waiting in the wings for him, as I got the impression that he is most comfortable with building things vs the sorts of tasks that are typical in the permaculture and ecological management side of my project. His legacy is in a large box with a hinged lid for my gas bottles and recycling on concrete slab, a bunch of wooden sump lids and much of the construction of a timber vehicle wheel-stop. He tackled these little constructions with steady progress and a conscientious attitude. Great to have these items ticked off my long list, so thanks for all your help, Tye. And best wishes for the rest of your NZ stay.

Lleu et Hollin sont deux garçons bien sympathiques. Malgré leur jeune àge ils nous ont beaucoup aidés pour nettoyer un terrain envahi de ronces. Ils ont intégré la famille très vite et ont participé aux sorties que nous leur proposons, randonnées en montagne, fêtes locales, championnat d’escalade. Ils m’ont bien fait plaisir en dévorant de bon cœur les petits plats français que je leur ai préparé. Bienvenue quand vous voudrez les garçons.

Agata and Liam were highly organised in their arrangements and came on the back of very good communication. It was nice to see them making the most of being in this area with trips to all the local sites, as well as checking out Whangarei's culinary offerings. They were equally sorted with their working days, being timely and well set up for the tasks ahead of them. Their arrival coincided with the end of the planting season and warming temps, so I gave them somewhat demanding tasks of moving chipper mulch and planting a very steep bank. They completed those jobs to a decent standard and with steady commitment. Liam's trailer driving skills were an added bonus. A very considerate approach to staying and their friendly nature made the stay a nice one for me and I hope that they got some benefit from their time here. Thanks guys

Regan was a wonderful guest always ready to help in the gardens and with the housework. Regan was amazing with the dogs and they will certainly miss the walks and playtime with her. We can highly recommend Regan to any host.

They’re such a warm and friendly family who made me feel right at home from day one. The farm is full of life — with the adorable dog Otis, lots of beautiful horses, sheep, and funny goats wandering around. There’s always something happening, and the atmosphere is really positive and relaxed. The dinners were always amazing — so tasty and generous, and it was really nice to sit together and chat after the day’s work. I also learned a lot about horses and gardening while staying there, which I really enjoyed. Thank you, Jen, for being such a kind and caring host — I had a really happy time on your farm and will definitely miss everyone (and Otis!) 🐶🌿💛

Qué suerte haber podido compartir los días en el camping de Pato y Nati. La vida en el camping es tranquila, bonita y llena de buena energía. El tiempo parece pasar a la velocidad justa. Entre mirar pajaritos, salir a caminar con José y Nina, charlar con Pato y Nati, y perderme en la Vía Láctea, no dejé de maravillarme con la naturaleza que rodea el camping y con la hermosa casa que ellos han creado ahí mismo. Las tareas eran de todo un poco: avanzar con la construcción de la cocina común, cuidar el huerto, preparar las cabañas para los próximos huéspedes y decorar o reorganizar distintas partes del camping. Gracias por hacerme sentir parte de su proyecto y de su casa. Y también por la rica leche y el queso de cabra, la buena música, las clases de chilenismos, y tantas otras cosas más ! Amazing experience! I stayed for two weeks, helping out Janet and Dick with weeding, cleaning, and other small tasks. They were always inviting us to social activities and encouraging us to meet new people. My friend and I stayed in the apartment above the garage, and as mentioned, the view does not disappoint! While I did not have a car, Dick and Janet were super duper accommodating with transportation, eager to share the beauty of the place they call home. From hiking Glacier National Park to rafting and attending get-togethers with the community, the work was worth it to say the least, a life-changing two weeks! Totally reccomend.

I absolutely loved my stay with the Bridges! From the very first minute, I felt completely at home and warmly welcomed. The food was always amazing — I was truly spoiled with delicious meals every day! I also had such a great time with the kids, made my week full of laughter and joy. The work I did felt incredibly fair compared to what I received in return — a beautiful home, great company, and such kindness. I can wholeheartedly recommend this Family, thank you so much for an unforgettable week!

Having Phil and Julie stay with us was an absolut pleasure! I'm going to miss them very much. Phil is an incredible teacher - both my students and I loved his lessons. He gave English lessons at the private Language school where I work, it was an amazing experience. Julie helped around the house, doing some painting and even more than what she was asked to as she is very helpful and was always eager to give a hand. I highly recommend everyone to host them, - they are lovely people and I hope we can meet again one day!

I stayed for one month at Shirley’s property. Shirley is an energetic and determined young woman with many creative ideas for the future. She is doing her best to manage this ongoing project, which includes house and area renovations, backyard and garden remodeling, learning about planting, and caring for newly adopted horses and pets. Since there are many animals living on the property, it requires regular feeding, cleaning of farmanimals and pets, also as hands-on support both inside and outside the house. During my stay, I occasionally carried out deep cleaning in the house, laundry and housekeeping tasks, daily maintenance around the property, and cleaning of both campers. I planted and watered plants, flowers and vegetables, cared for the garden, and helped feed the small dogs, goats, sheep, chickens, and Jo’s two dogs and cat while he was away. Keeping the outdoor areas clean from dog, horse, and chicken waste was also an important part of maintenance. In the near future, creating a compost area and redesigning the animal shelters and sites would greatly improve hygiene, structure, and comfort for all pets and farm animals — as well as for residents, volunteers, and future guests. We had an amazing international team of kind and helpful volunteers. Together we shared lovely moments — visiting nearby towns, enjoying authentic Indian food with friendly neighbors, swimming at a nearby waterfall, celebrating Jo’s birthday, and meeting other Workaway host and volunteers. It was a vibrant and valuable life experience for me, especially as someone with no previous farming background. I learned a lot and would be happy to return again to see how Shirley’s inspiring project continues to grow

We had a wonderful time here. We feel such deep nostalgia and can’t wait to come back one day to keep contributing to the amazing work that this place does every day for our furry friends. Everything is exactly as it seems — the profile is accurate, and going there is a guarantee! We highly recommend it to anyone thinking about reaching out to them. Every kind-hearted person who wants to help is more than welcome. They have many exciting projects in development, all focused on the well-being of the dogs. Our main tasks were simple and routine: taking care of the dogs’ basic needs and keeping the HQ clean. Then we had plenty of opportunities to take part in vet visits, visit the dog shelter in Zihuatanejo, and care for some street dogs (or neighborhood family dogs) with different health issues. In short, there was always something to do! All of this constantly motivated us and made us feel that we were truly helping the community and our dogs. This review could go on for miles, but to keep it short: it’s a place that’s truly worth it. So thank you! You made us feel at home from the very first moment, and we had two incredible months. We think of you often — “thank you” just isn’t enough. In Troncones, besides the loving dogs who gave us unconditional love, we also found friends: Sandrine, Paty, Eva, and Nathalie! We love you all.

A little bit overdue but there's not enough to be said about staying with this host! The property and dogs are now like a second home to me after my 20 day stay. Such a beautiful town and amazing locals. I had dinner and drinks at a local's home with their family after visiting their food stall several times during my stay. Using the scooter to get around was perfect even during the September rains while I was there. The beaches, temples and food markets are amazing. The fireflies, butterflies and other wildlife make the property such a magical place to be. The dogs are well behaved and absolute suckers for attention. I have been away a month and think about my stay in Khuraburi often! Thank you for such a beautiful visit to the area!

The stay of Isabell and her two lovely daughters was great and at the very right time in the Last Moment. Thanks to her we could manage to cook about 80 litres of grape Juice or even more and she helped with a Lot of daily Tasks while Samuel was away. I think we never Had a volunteer doing that many dishes! Thank you for that!! Also the Children got along very Well which was great for the whole experience alltogether. We enjoyed spending time and Life on the Farm together and showing them a little Bit from our way of Life. A unexpected present for my Kids after the stay showed me how much Isabell valued the experience!
